LORELAI GILMORE is a stunning scruffy young dog looking for a home. She is a timid girl, our best guess is a Jack Russell Terrier-type mix, about 11 months old and fully grown at 24 pounds. She's a beautiful girl who literally wears her heart on her hip. Lorelai loves her doggie friends. She's good with older, dog-savvy kids and kitties. She prefers women over men. Lorelai needs a home with a dog-experienced adopter who will take the time needed to earn her trust. She must have a confident, playful dog sibling and is best suited to a home with a physically-fenced yard. She's housebroken, crate trained and walks well on a leash. Lorelai and her sister Rory were found dumped in the woods earlier this year. Both girls were adopted a few months ago but Lorelai Gilmore was recently returned due to a change in family circumstances. Lorelai prefers women and is best suited to a quiet home where there won't be lots of strangers coming and going. Huckleberry Finn - or Finn as we call him is an adorable low rider looking for his next adventure with you! Our best guess is that he is a 2 year old Jack Russel Terrier / Basset Hound mix. He is approximately 30 pounds and full of LOVE!! Finn came to SAAP ready to find his furever home but sadly we discovered that he was heartworm positive. So SAAP stepped in to get him the help and healing that he needed. Fin is ready to put all of that behind him and set out on a mission to find his family! Finn has been good with all the dogs in his foster home. He ignored the resident cat. His favorite place is with his humans! He loves doing rolly polly’s for belly rubs! We are working on potty training. He had been on steroids since he arrived at SAAP for treatment (which heightens the need to drink and urinate) and so we are now working to reinforce the need to potty outside. Meet Cookie. Cookie is one of those dogs who quietly steals your heart with her gentle presence. She is a 1.5-year-old wire-haired terrier mix, about 30 pounds, and a perfect small-to-medium-sized dog. Cookie was found as a stray by one of our shelter partners and brought into rescue, where she quickly became a favorite among the volunteers. They often took her out of her kennel to enjoy walks around the shelter grounds. Cookie is a sweet, gentle girl who is still building her confidence. She is learning to walk on a leash and is doing well overall, though she can get a little nervous at thresholds such as going in and out of doorways. With gentle encouragement (and maybe a hot dog or two — she’s a fan!), she continues to make steady progress. She may be a bit shy when first meeting new people or experiencing new situations, but after a couple of days she settles in and becomes much more comfortable. She does amazing with other dogs and is currently fostered with four dogs of various sizes. Cookie loves spending time with her furry friends and fits in seamlessly, but she does not necessarily need another dog in the home to be happy. She’s perfectly content stretching out on the couch, often choosing to lounge right next to the other dogs and enjoy a calm, quiet moment. Cookie is also working on her potty training, which is a work in progress as is common with rescue dogs. With a consistent routine and continued guidance, she will continue to improve. Cookie is a low-key, easygoing girl with a very go-with-the-flow personality. She doesn’t demand constant attention and is happiest simply being near her people. Once she warms up, she shows just how loving and loyal she can be and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a gentle, steady presence in their home.
