Huckleberry Finn - or Finn as we call him is an adorable low rider looking for his next adventure with you! Our best guess is that he is a 2 year old Jack Russel Terrier / Basset Hound mix. He is approximately 30 pounds and full of LOVE!! Finn came to SAAP ready to find his furever home but sadly we discovered that he was heartworm positive. So SAAP stepped in to get him the help and healing that he needed. Fin is ready to put all of that behind him and set out on a mission to find his family! Finn has been good with all the dogs in his foster home. He ignored the resident cat. His favorite place is with his humans! He loves doing rolly polly’s for belly rubs! We are working on potty training. He had been on steroids since he arrived at SAAP for treatment (which heightens the need to drink and urinate) and so we are now working to reinforce the need to potty outside. LORELAI GILMORE is a stunning scruffy young dog looking for a home. She is a timid girl, our best guess is a Jack Russell Terrier-type mix, about 11 months old and fully grown at 24 pounds. She's a beautiful girl who literally wears her heart on her hip. Lorelai loves her doggie friends. She's good with older, dog-savvy kids and kitties. She prefers women over men. Lorelai needs a home with a dog-experienced adopter who will take the time needed to earn her trust. She must have a confident, playful dog sibling and is best suited to a home with a physically-fenced yard. She's housebroken, crate trained and walks well on a leash. Lorelai and her sister Rory were found dumped in the woods earlier this year. Both girls were adopted a few months ago but Lorelai Gilmore was recently returned due to a change in family circumstances. Lorelai prefers women and is best suited to a quiet home where there won't be lots of strangers coming and going. If you'd like to meet Lorelai, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. All our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Hi, I'm Piñata! I may be young but I have had such an eventful life so far. The vet estimates my age at 3 but my foster family says I act more youthful. I have seen the world as a stray pup and raised 6 of the sweetest Sugar Skulls. Now that they are weaned and doing their own thing I'm ready for my next adventure!! I love toys especially balls. I can throw the ball and entertain myself but I love when someone else throws the ball for me to chase! I am all about spa days where I get pampered with a warm bath and rub down after. I love to travel(a throw back from my backpacking, stray pup days) I will do a little happy dance when it's time for a road trip. The best thing is after a day full of fun? Getting to curling up on the couch with my favorite person and a good movie! I'm a feisty red head looking for a place to put down roots. Do you need a partner to go with you on excursions? All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information.
