Story
Murray was rescued from an older couple who did not have the capacity to take care of Murray and the many puppies he sired. HART received a plea for assistance and, as a result, Murray is now a proud member of the HART family. Murray is actually slightly smaller than his offspring and has the youthful mannerisms of a puppy. Truly adorable! Murray has lived with many dogs and has been around young and older children alike but does not care for cats. His previous family reports that he is very affectionate and likes to cuddle. That said, as expected with this transition, Murray is a bit scared yet, as evidenced by the photos, Murray is receptive to being held which seems to have a calming effect. In sum, Murray simply needs time to adjust and we are hopeful that Murray can spend this period of adjustment in a foster home, rather than the kennel, thereby providing Murray the love and stability he so richly deserves. Story
Our Popeye may not have superhuman strength (like the cartoon character), but he sure has super canine cuteness! He is basically like a canine toddler, who finds everything you do fascinating, so he wants to be a part of it. He enjoys other dogs to play with, toys to chew on, walks, with you by his side, and any and all attention you offer him. He is a true lap dog and reserves the right to yours every evening. This puppy is crate trained and house trained already. Sleeps through the night. His happy place is by you on the couch or your bed. If you are interested in this most adorable bundle please let us know. Thank you for your interest in Popeye! KNOWN WITH CATS: We're not sure how Gabe is with cats. Let us know if you'd like us to find out! KNOWN WITH KIDS: Gabe is still a bit shy meeting new people so right now, we'd recommend older teens or just adults for Gabe KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Gabe settles nicely in his crate. He is house trained. KNOWN LIKES: Liver treats, people that go at his pace KNOWN DISLIKES: People moving too fast with him About Gabe: Gabe is an 8-year-old terrier mix who was returned to Homeward Trails due to his medical requirements. He was diagnosed with pulmonary edema, which causes fluid accumulation in his lungs. At present, he is receiving medication to help control his condition. Despite having pulmonary edema, Gabe enjoys his favorite activities, such as lounging on his bed with his toys, soaking up the sun by the windows, following his foster mother around the condo, and exploring the outdoors for interesting scents. He often pauses to observe passing cars or sanitation trucks. Gabe would thrive in a household where he is the sole dog or with other dogs that understand his need for rest, as he tends to sleep for the majority of the day. He is a gentle and affectionate dog who appreciates short walks and cuddling with his human companions. Gabe is not particularly enthusiastic about long walks and prefers the comfort of a warm, cozy home. During his walks, he has shown little interest in other dogs; when he encounters one, he typically stops and watches. It is recommended for him to have access to a yard, as he experiences anxiety when walking outside. Gabe closely follows his foster around the house and rarely barks, spending most of his time resting. He only barks in response to noises in the hallway but can be easily redirected, even when barking at dogs outside. Gabe is a sweet and affectionate companion who is simple to care for. What does Gabe cherish the most? He loves spending time with people and cuddling with them. Could you be his forever person? If so, please submit an application.
