Story
Introducing, Lucy! Lucy and her brother Linus ended up in a rural animal shelter where they waited a month for rescue. Despite having a rough start to their lives, these pups are super sweet and loving. Lucy is about 4 months old and a petite little girl weighing 12 lbs. She is doing great with housetraining, walks well on leash, and loves to cuddle. Lucy can be a little timid in new situations but warms up quickly. We think she would love a home with a confident dog and an owner willing to share their bed with her. Interested in learning more about Lucy? Apply at www.novapetsalive.org/adopt. *Lucy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, was given dewormer and monthly preventatives, and is microchipped.

Story
Calling all Terrier Lovers! Meet Stewart, aka Stewie! This scruffy little character was spotted running as a stray before making his way to safety. Since arriving, Stewie has proven himself to be bright, funny, and incredibly affectionate. He’s 1–2 years old, 17 lbs, and appears to be a wire-coat Jack Russell Terrier mix. His scruffy coat and signature “poodle-hawk” tuft make him irresistibly adorable. Stewie is currently being fostered with two moms and five other dogs. He does best with playful pups and would love a young, active buddy in his new home. He’s a wonderful mix of goofy, clever, affectionate, and fun. While he can be a little shy with new people, he warms up quickly and becomes a total velcro dog, following his humans from room to room as his silly, slightly chaotic, always-lovable personality comes out. Stewie is crate-trained and almost fully potty-trained. You still need to keep an eye on him and give him consistent breaks, but he’s really getting the hang of it! His foster mom has been doing structured crate nap times, and he now settles quickly. At bedtime, he sleeps quietly in his crate, and even trots right in on his own when the treat routine starts. Good boy, Stewie! Stewart is great on leash. He stays close, doesn’t pull much, and while he can get a bit nervous with passing people or heavy traffic, he doesn’t panic. He’s already made great progress with desensitization walks and is even more confident with a dog buddy by his side. This cute, goofy boy is also an incredibly sweet and snuggly companion. He’s an active pup who loves fun and will keep you laughing, but after a good walk or some yard zoomies, he’s perfectly happy to relax on the couch or entertain himself with a toy. Stewart is ready for a family who will enjoy his spark and help him continue blossoming into the wonderful dog he’s meant to be. Apply today! BREED ESTIMATE: JRT/Poodle Mix GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  17 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~  1-2 years old COAT TYPE: Scruffy, wiry coat needs regular grooming ADOPTION FEE: $425 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neutered/microchipped LOCATION:  Herndon, VA   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to https://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application. Story
Sparkle was surrendered when her family moved out of state. She was found 4 years earlier as a stray. She originally came in with a submissive maltipoo that always let her eat first. She has learned to eat from her own bowl and eats with 5 other small dogs without any aggressive behavior. She is a sweet affectionate little girl that loves walks and car rides. She is completely vetted, microchipped and house trained. Her buddy was already adopted and now it is her turn to find the perfect home for her. own home that will allow her to sparkle. She is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. Please let me know if you have any questions and email us for the link to the adoption application

Story
Leo is 7 years old. He was 1 of 2 in a litter. We initially adopted his brother from an acquaintance. Around 2 months old, the family that had Leo had a family emergency and asked us to watch him. 3 months later they returned and suggested we keep him since he bonded to us and our other dogs - including his litter brother. As they both aged, play-fighting got more and more aggressive. They are both neutered but no help. My wife spends a lot of time traveling for work and often takes the brother. When without the other, these dogs are great with other dogs. And always good with people. They both had formal training but that does not seem to help when they get worked up. At this point, I think Leo would be better off with the anxiety he feels around his brother. I am not in a rush to rehome him. Especially if it means finding Leo the best new family.

Visit our event page (https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) to see which one—event listings are usually updated on Fridays with attending dogs. Meet Josie Ann, the little lady with big energy and an even bigger heart! This sweet 2-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix is ready to jump right into your life—and your lap! Mostly white with adorable tan markings on her face, she’s as cute as she is full of spunk and love. This friendly, outgoing girl greets everyone with tail wags and enthusiasm to spare. On walks, she’s easy to manage and loves to sniff and explore, always keeping an eye out for interesting critters like squirrels and birds. She’s excited to meet every dog and person along the way, and she never turns down a good play session with her favorite toys. Josie Ann takes treats gently and will “sit” with a bit of coaxing using a tasty treat. After an adventure, she loves nothing more than curling up in your lap for some cuddle time. Found as a stray in southwestern Virginia, Josie Ann is ready for her next chapter—one filled with love, laughter, and plenty of outdoor fun. If you're looking for a lively new adventure buddy, then Josie Ann is your girl!
