His DNA says 75% Great Pyrenees, 13% Lab, and 12% Bloodhound, and his looks match perfectly: Pyr body, Lab tail, and Bloodhound face! With his thick, soft, luxurious coat and adorable black “bandit” face, Mac is sure to turn heads. Mac came from a hoarding case in Tennessee and had never lived in a house before, so everything is new to him. He is housebroken and crate trained, very low energy, and happy to spend much of the day sleeping in the sunshine. He enjoys car rides, loves squeaky toys, and his favorite treat is beef liver. He is also learning to enjoy brushing and, more importantly, discovering that people can be trusted. Though very shy, Mac is making wonderful progress every day and has gone from fearful to beginning to ask for pets and attention. Mac does best with other dogs and absolutely needs a canine sibling to help show him how fun life can be. He enjoys playing with other dogs. He loves small children and even gave kisses to a visiting 3-year-old, but quieter, gentle children would be the best fit. He has not been exposed to cats, though his very laid-back personality suggests he may do well with them. He shows little interest in chickens, has a deep but non-excessive bark, and is not an escape artist. A securely fenced 5-foot yard is ideal. Mac’s perfect home will be patient, calm, and willing to let him build confidence at his own pace. An older couple or a family with gentle children and a friendly canine companion would be wonderful. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues.
