Story
Meet Otto Jones — a 12&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 11 lb. miniature Poodle mix who is as adorable as his name suggests!   Quick Facts: Name: Otto Jones Breed: Miniature Poodle Mix Age: 12 years old Weight: 11 lbs. House-Trained: Yes, but has occasional accidents (will wear a belly band) Crate-Trained: No – but does use a gated pen in his foster home Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested, likely fine Good with Kids: Not tested, likely fine with older, respectful kids Energy Level: Low Fence Required: No Special Needs: Otto Jones has cataracts in his left eye and partially visually impaired. He also seems to be a little hard of hearing. He is currently Heartworm Positive (which is treatable) and all treatment will be paid by CrisisDogsNC even if he is adopted prior to completing treatment. (Heartworm treatment includes 30 days of Doxycycline (“slow kill” method due to his age).   About Otto Jones’s Breed: Our best guess is that Otto Jones is a miniature poodle mixed breed. Miniature Poodles are known for their intelligence, affectionate nature, and gentle, people&#226&#128&#145oriented temperament, making them wonderful companions for families and seniors alike. They tend to bond closely with their humans and enjoy being part of daily routines, whether that’s relaxing on the couch, going for short walks, or simply following their person from room to room. Their bright minds and sensitive personalities often make them responsive, loyal, and eager to please.   An ideal home for a Mini Poodle is one that offers steady companionship, a calm environment, and gentle structure. They thrive with people who enjoy spending time with their dogs and can provide consistent routines, light exercise, and lots of affection. Because they’re social and emotionally attuned, they do especially well in homes where they’re not left alone for long periods and can enjoy the comfort of being near their favorite humans.   What to Love about Otto Jones: Despite being a senior, Otto still has a surprising pep in his step and enjoys short walks, exploring the yard, and being part of whatever his people are doing. His happiest moments are spent snuggled beside his person or curled up in his cozy dog bed. He loves belly rubs, being held, and soaking up affection — especially from his foster dad, whom he follows around like a devoted little shadow!   Otto has slightly impaired hearing and vision, including a cataract in his left eye, but it doesn’t slow him down or dampen his cheerful spirit. He’s very food&#226&#128&#145motivated, loves treats, and could chew on bones all day if you let him! He’s almost fully house trained, though he still wears diapers for the occasional accident, and consistent potty breaks help him stay on track. He does wonderfully with the other dogs in his foster home and fits right in. He hasn’t met cats or kids yet, but would likely do well with calm, respectful children.   He’s not a fan of being crated and would do best in a gated area with a comfy bed when left alone. At night, he’s happy to sleep in your bed or in his own bed right beside you! Otto is a lower&#226&#128&#145energy gentleman due to his age, but he still enjoys leisurely walks and is great on a leash. He is currently heartworm positive, and the rescue will fully cover his treatment — even if he’s adopted before it’s completed.   Otto Jones’s Outstanding Highlights: 12&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 11 lb miniature Poodle mix with a sweet, gentle temperament Still has a little pep in his step and enjoys short walks and exploring Loves snuggling, belly rubs, and being right beside his person, especially his foster dad Slightly impaired hearing and vision (blind in one eye) but still gets around confidently Very food&#226&#128&#145motivated and loves treats and chewing bones Almost fully house trained; wears diapers for occasional accidents and benefits from consistent potty breaks Does great with other dogs and would likely do well with calm, respectful kids and possibly cats Not crate&#226&#128&#145friendly; does best in a gated area with a comfy bed when left alone Sleeps happily in your bed or in his own bed beside you Lower&#226&#128&#145energy senior who just wants companionship and affection Currently heartworm positive, and his treatment will be fully covered by the rescue   Otto Jones is a gentle, loving, loyal little companion who wants nothing more than to spend his golden years by someone’s side, soaking up love and offering endless sweetness in return.   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. He shows his appreciation with endless love, soft eyes, and a happy presence that fills a room.
