Story
Piper is a CKC registered Labradoodle. She loves to cuddle and get affection from her owners. She enjoys playing with balls the most but also loves her frisbee. Piper loves to play ball and run around outside. She loves to check in with her owner for pets and good job before her next lap. Piper would be best with active parents or where she has a yard to play in. She is good with other dogs and children. She would need patient introduction to cats as they are new to her. Piper is completely trained. She is crate trained for when the owner leaves the house. She knows all basic commands and is good off leash in a controlled environment. She does best on her harness but can be collar walked. Piper is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. She also gets monthly preventative medication. This includes flea & tick and heartworm. She does require regular teeth brushing to keep her teeth clean.

Story
Meet Evie — a 1-year-old, 36 lb black Lab mix bursting with love, energy, and charm! Quick Facts: Name: Evie Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix Age: 1 year old Weight: 36 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes - almost Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: No Good with Kids: Yes (best with school-aged kids who like to run and play) Energy Level: Medium to High Fence Required: Yes, preferred About Evie’s Breed: Labrador Retrievers are friendly, outgoing, and highly adaptable dogs that thrive as both family companions and working partners. They are known for their intelligence, trainability, and affectionate nature, which has made them one of the most popular breeds worldwide. An ideal home for a Labrador Retriever is one where they receive plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and companionship. Labs do well in active households that enjoy outdoor activities like walking, hiking, or swimming. They are happiest when they are part of the family’s daily life, whether in a spacious home with a yard or even smaller living spaces, as long as their needs for activity and attention are met. With consistent training and love, Labradors make loyal, joyful companions. All About Evie: Evie is house trained and nearly crate trained, making her a well-mannered pup who’s eager to please. She thrives in a home with a fenced yard where she can safely run and play, and she absolutely adores everyone she meets! With her adorable puppy energy, she’s especially great with kids, though school-aged children are the best match since she’s still a bit rambunctious. She’s wonderful with other dogs and loves playtime, though her enthusiasm can get a little rough, so supervision helps keep things fun and safe. Cats, on the other hand, aren’t always her best match—Evie wants to play with them but can be too rough. She has decent leash manners and would be happiest with an active family who enjoys walks, hikes, and outdoor adventures! Evie’s Highlights: • 1 year old, 26 lbs, full of puppy energy • House trained, nearly crate trained • Loves everyone, especially school-aged kids • Great with dogs, playful but sometimes a bit rough • Active lifestyle ready, enjoys walks, hikes, and adventures • Best with experienced owners, not ideal for first-time dog parents • Sweet and affectionate, loves to run, play, and cuddle Evie is the sweetest little girl who will bring joy, laughter, and endless love to the right family—one that can keep up with her playful spirit and give her the guidance she needs to grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below or at https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC  .      Herbie loves people.  He gets excited but doesn't bark or jump when people come in the house or when we walk by people outside. He sleeps by himself on the sofa during the day and all night, but loves it best when someone sits with him. He wants to be a lap dog!    Herbie loves food but is very patient when he is fed. He sits and waits for "OK" when we put his food bowl down.  He's pretty gentle taking treats and loves to work food puzzles.    Herbie loves our two 30 min walks.  But he would probably like even more walks.  He goes outside in the yard a few times a day to do his business but he doesn't just hang out in the yard or on the deck very long unless a human is with him.  He is a people focused dog! We think he'd do fine with a house or apt with no fenced yard and a just walks.   Herbie does fine on walks but does need further leash walking skills.  When we pass people he is calm and happy, and he sits on command to let people pass without approaching them. Herbie can be reactive when we see other dogs on walks. We cross the street or move off the trail/sidewalk 6-10 feel to give plenty of room.  He occasionally jumps and barks depeding on the other dog and how close we are. He's making  progress though.     Herbie does not need to be crated. We have left him for 3-4 hours at a time which works fine as long as he's had a walk/meal and is ready to settle for a while.  He is mainly housebroken.   He will stand by the back door and whine to let us know when he needs to go outside.    Herbie is very vocal when riding in a car.  A few trips to the vet is fine.  If  you want a dog for a cross country road trip, Herbie will not be packing his bags to come along with you!    Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING HERBIE?
