Story
8 year old Yesenia is a lab x boxer looking for a home. Yesenia was surviving when kind strangers might feed her, but had to be a strong resilient girl. They suspect she may have been used for breeding and was subjected to having her tail docked. When they no longer wanted her they just left her to fend for herself. Yesenia reads people well and likes to be comforted by them. Yesenia prefers male dogs and isn’t a fan of cats. She is spayed and vaccinated, weighing a perfect 45 lbs. If you think you might be Yesenia’s second chance as either an adopter or foster, she’d love to hear from you by emailing us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com or going direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw (please check your junk mail in case we get redirected)

Story
Blaire's play buddy, Goober, has been adopted, but where are the adopters for Blaire? Blaire is a young adult who is ready to go for any kind of adventure, then curl up with his family for a long cuddle session. He's an awesome dog for the right people looking for a playful and loving young fellow with a drive to learn!Blaire knows his basic commands and is eager to please, so he responds well to positive reinforcement training. Blaire enjoys going for walks and can initially get over-excited, maybe jumping up. He then calms down but does pull a bit, so he could benefit from loose-leash walking training with treats and lots of praise. This young lad would love life living in an active family of adults, and dog-savvy older children could be a good fit as well. An experienced home with people who are excited to teach and train him would make this sweet boy so happy. Blaire can be a sensitive boy, and a very loving and caring environment would be ideal to help him open up to new experiences. When he is not on adventures, he loves nothing more than to cuddle up with his people and soak up attention and affection.Do you think you could be Blaire's person? Here are some ways to find out?ORSubmit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions, an online applicantYou would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.*Side note: the more you add to your application about you and what you are looking for in a companion, the better we can match animals with adopters! Story
**Note: Lullu is ready for his flight to Toronto upon adoption. Background: Lullu was rescued from a city pound in Milyang, Korea last fall. After spending a few months in a foster home, he moved to our boarding house, where he’s been living with other dogs while waiting for his forever family. Personality and Social Life: Lullu is a happy, affectionate boy who loves people—whether he’s meeting someone new or cuddling with someone he knows. He’s very social and gets along well with all kinds of dogs, big or small, young or old. He especially enjoys playing with friendly and playful pups. His energy level is just right—he loves to play but also knows how to relax. He’s calm, easygoing, and enjoys simply hanging out with others. Behaviour: Lullu is quiet and well-behaved indoors. He may bark once or twice when someone new enters the house, but he settles quickly. While he was recovering from heartworm treatment in his foster home, he showed no signs of separation anxiety and was very easy to care for. He prefers to do his business outside but will hold it if needed. He can get a bit carsick on long rides but does fine on shorter trips. Bath time and vet visits can make him a little nervous, but he stays calm, especially when someone he trusts is with him. He’s playful when it’s time to play and relaxed when it’s time to rest. Lullu isn’t needy or hyper—he’s just a lovely dog to have around. Health and Diet: When Lullu was rescued, he was treated for heartworms and anaplasmosis, and he also had surgery for cherry eye in his left eye. He has recovered fully and is now healthy and happy. Lullu is neutered, fully vaccinated, and takes monthly parasite prevention. He eats dry kibble twice a day and has no known allergies. Ideal Home: Lullu would do best in a home where he’s not left alone for long—someone who works from home or has another friendly dog would be great. He’s an affectionate and friendly boy, good for first-time dog parents or anyone looking for a second dog. Lullu has so much love to give. He’ll make a wonderful, loyal addition to any home. Whoever adopts him will be very lucky. Apply to adopt Lullu through link below: https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/lullu/

Story
Meet Nellie - A Gentle Soul Ready to Shine. Nellie is a one or two year old Labrador mix with the kind of soft and soulful eyes that instantly melt your heart. Though she may be a little reserved at first, this sweet girl has a quiet courage that blossoms beautifully with kindness and patience. Every day Nellie is showing us more of her loving personality. She is greeting new people, exploring on her walks and proving just how brave and resilient she really is. She is looking for a calm and steady home where she can continue to gain confidence and grow into the amazing companion we know she is meant to be. Nellie is gentle, affectionate and deeply rewarding for those who take the time to get to know her. She will thrive with a family who understands the beauty of going at her pace and celebrates her small but mighty victories along the way. Her ideal home is a quieter one where she can settle in comfortably. She may enjoy being your one and only or could do well with a calm and respectful canine friend. We recommend a home with older children aged fifteen and up but would happily chat about younger kids if it feels like the right fit. We have not been able to test her with cats yet. If you are someone who finds joy in building trust and watching a shy dog blossom into a loyal and loving companion, Nellie could be the perfect addition to your family. Come meet Nellie and let her show you just how magical a gentle heart can be. ------------------------------------------ At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption.
