Story
He was adopted at Nassau humane society. He does struggle with anxiety but as long as he has a confident provider, water at hand, and a gentle touch he will be the most loving and loyal dog. He is kennel and house trained. He is high energy so he will need a yard or dog park to play in and release all his energy. He is 5 years old so he is past the chaotic puppy phase and in his calm loving phase. We love him so much but unfortunately we cannot give him the time or attention that he deserves. We can provide a kennel, dog bed, food bowl, toys, and more.

Story
This dog has been at the shelter for over four months waiting for a home. Because they have been waiting so long, their adoption fee has been discounted by half, making them just $45 to adopt! This dog also has a special need: they are heartworm positive. While a heartworm diagnosis may sound intimidating, dogs with heartworm disease can live happy, high-quality lives when given appropriate care and treatment. Our heartworm-positive dogs have just as much love, companionship, and joy to offer their adopters as any other dog, and they deserve the same chance at finding a loving home.Being heartworm positive and a long-term resident does not make this dog any less special or worthy of being chosen. They may have been overlooked, but sometimes the dogs who wait the longest simply need a little more time for the right person to find them. ❤️Heartworm disease is relatively common in the United States, and caring adopters willing to open their homes to heartworm-positive dogs can make a truly life-changing difference.Ask our staff about the Stormie Rain Heartworm Fund and what assistance may be available to help with heartworm treatment expenses. Please come by the shelter to meet this dog! Our staff would be happy to tell you more about their personality, what they enjoy, their heartworm status and treatment needs, and what kind of home may be the best fit. They've already waited more than four months. Maybe today is the day someone finally chooses them. 🐾❤️ADOPTION PROCESS:Our adoption process is simple and straightforward.Start by completing our pre-screening application: https://tinyurl.com/adoptfromHSCCApplications are typically approved or declined the same day. Once approved and all parties agree, adoption fees are paid and the contract is signed. If the pet is not yet spayed/neutered or current on a rabies vaccine, they will not go home the same day. An appointment will be scheduled, and you’ll receive further instructions at that time.We hope this helps answer your questions!

Luna is 6 years old. She is very loving and requires a lot of hugs. Unfortunately for her we have added two more children to our family and at times she can be overwhelmed when forgotten about. She is protective of and stays quiet. She loves chew toys.
