Story
Meet Tess! Hello there, my name is Tess. I'm just a young adult, weighing in at just 42 pounds, so foster mom says they watch so I don't lose too much weight. I had a loving family, and actually, they loved me so much that they surrendered me to Albert's when I got really sick and they couldn't fix me. After lots and lots of testing, we finally know what I have. It's called Cutaneous Prototheca. It's a very rare disease, and I will have to be on medicine (approximately $80 per month) 2 times a day for my whole life to make sure I'm comfortable. It affects my skin, and I get sores, but if I don't take medicine, it could go to my insides. The good news is, this disease doesn't hold me back from having a very regular life! I'm still happy and young and have lots of life left in me! I get along well with other dogs and love to play outside with them! Outside is one of my favorite places to be. Running in the yard, playing in the hose, swimming in the kiddie pool, all the things! I go outside to do my pottying, and I'm crate trained inside. I'm not a fan of other dogs being by my crate or food/water, so I can get quite bossy with them about it. I used to live with a 10 year old boy, and I loved him, but now I just live with adults, and I love them too! I'm a happy go lucky girl who loves my outside time. I would love adventures with my humans, and now it's my time to find my new family! Maybe you are ready to add a young new pooch who just deserves her own forever to your home? *Tess is being fostered in the Milton area. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair). Story
Meet Lucky Lou, an adorable 7-year old Black Lab Mix with white sox!! Lucky is an overall wonderful girl, great with dogs of all sizes; she loves to play with them and just hang out too! She loves people too! Lucky joined BAARK Dog Rescue along with a little senior Chihuahua named Sophie after their mom went into a nursing home. Sophie has some special needs that may make it difficult to find a home together. But after close observation in their foster, we feel both could do well on their own with different families. An ideal forever family for Lucky Lou is one who has plenty of time to spend with her, on long daily walks, just hanging out, and playing in a secure, fenced yard. Because she so enjoys the company of other dogs, another canine family member is also important! Lucky is up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. Lucky weighs about 50 lbs. If you are interested in adding this adorable girl to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. Note that BAARK is located in Barrington and adopts primarily within the Northwestern Suburbs of Chicagoland.

Story
Meet Buddy Buddy is a very handsome Black Lab, who was thought to be a senior, when he was pulled from a high-kill shelter in Kentucky. We are not so sure he’s that 10+ year-old as we were told. Sure, Buddy has that frosted face typical of a senior but most likely because he’s had a very tough neglectful life. After just a few days of realizing he’s safe, in a foster home with many canine friends, Buddy has proven to be playful, very sociable, and up for any adventure that comes his way!! He loves to give kisses to his new human as well as canine friends, chewing on chewy bones, barking at annoying people and things (and also when he’s anticipating breakfast or dinner!) and relaxing in the sun. He also likes to play outside with a couple of the younger dogs he has befriended. An ideal family and home for Buddy is one willing to commit to ensuring Buddy receives a good balance of activities, socializing, cuddling and napping. He’d really enjoy the company of one or two other mature adult dogs in the family; he’s good with female and other male dogs!! (We do not know how he is with cats). At times Buddy can be very enthusiastic, jumping up and down (but NOT jumping on people!!); this could be a bit much for smaller children. However he would enjoy the companionship of older kids in the family. A secure fenced yard would also be ideal for Buddy, since he enjoys hanging out in the sun. Overall, Buddy is an absolutely perfect boy….friendly, sociable, well behaved, a quick learner and of course very handsome. Buddy is fully vetted. He is up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention, neutered and microchipped. He weighs about 60 lbs, a perfect weight for him! In his foster home, Buddy has proven himself to be fully housebroken. But….it is important to recognize that no dog should be forced to “hold it” for more than six hours at any time. If you might be interested in adding Buddy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895 to obtain an adoption application. Note that Buddy is currently being fostered in Barrington IL; we adopt only local to the area.

Story
In spite of having a very tough start to his life, Toby is still hopeful that life will get better and there is a family out there who will love and care for him and give him the home he deserves. He’s a very sweet but very energetic Lab Mix who has lived most of his life outdoors by himself due to his previous family having allergies to him. In spite of his limited socializing, Toby is eager to be with people and very eager to please them. He’s such a nice dog, we knew we could not just leave him where he was, so we brought Toby into our program as an owner surrender. We knew we’d need help channeling Toby’s energy into constructive activities and training, so enrolled him into a local board-and-train. He has completed a 3 week board and train and would love to continue to learn more skills to show off his love for life. This program will also offer 2 training sessions for adopters so that they can continue helping Toby be the best pup he can be. Trainers report that everyone is falling in love with sweet Toby. He is working on leash manners, basic obedience, self-regulation and other skills that will make some adopter a very lucky person/family. Toby’s perfect family is a strong, patient, active couple or person who enjoys walks, running or hiking. Toby has shown that he is eager to please and very smart; he might even be a prospect for agility training and other dog sports. He would be happiest with a fenced in yard of his own to run and retrieve balls (and to chase the squirrels)! He loves to cuddle and thinks he's a lap dog! He is friendly towards other dogs but would be best with another large, energetic dog or as a single dog to get all the attention he deserves. NO cats. Children should be older as he is a large guy who doesn’t always realize his size and can accidentally knock over smaller children. He is crate trained and often goes in on his own for timeouts. While his foster mom works in the family room, he spends his time chewing on toys, begging for tummy rubs, and lounging in his bed. This handsome boy is a about 90 lbs, neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on year-round prevention, and microchipped. If you are interested in adding this handsome, super-smart, enthusiastic boy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the NW suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to the area.

Story
Comet is an adorable puppy, calm and a real sweetheart. He is thought to be a Black Lab Mix. His estimated date of birth is May 18th, 2023. At 5 months, Comet weighs 26lbs; his adult weight is not known. It is most important to note that we do not know just how big Comet will become as an adult…his new family must be willing to accept him, no matter what his adult size! Comet is very smart, a quick learner, very alert and playful, but overall pretty calm for a young boy!! This cute pup joined BAARK from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky earlier this year. When joining our rescue program, Comet appeared happy, calm & gentle, very friendly, and eager to move on to a better life!! He’s now ready to move along to a forever home of his own! Comet is very sociable, playful, and is great with dogs. Most likely, a young or middle-aged adult dog would prefer his company more so than a senior dog. An ideal family for Comet is one able to assimilate the enthusiasm and playfulness of a puppy into their lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Comet to be his best self! A secure fenced yard is ideal as is another younger or middle-aged pup in the family. Comet is crate-trained and is working on good house manners (housebreaking). He is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. His neuter is included in his adoption fee. For information about adding this adorable boy to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the NW suburbs of Chicago, and adopts only locally.

Story
Celeste is an adorable puppy, but is quite the firecracker….she’s playful, energetic, and VERY active!! She is thought to be a Black Lab Mix; she is very petite. Her very lean structure may be due to her high energy level! And desire to stay active at all times. In addition to running and playing with other dogs, she’s obsessed with water and cannot get enough of playing in it! Celeste’s estimated date of birth is April 1st, 2023. At 5 months, she weighs 25lbs; her adult weight is not known but estimated to be 40 or so lbs. It is most important to note that we do not know just how big Celeste will become as an adult…her new family must be willing to accept her, no matter what her adult size! Celeste is very smart, a quick learner, very alert and energetic and playful. If you are looking to energize your household with a puppy…….Celeste is your girl! This cute pup joined BAARK from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky earlier this year. When joining our rescue program, Celeste appeared happy, confident, very friendly, and eager to move on to a better life!! She’s now ready to move along to a forever home of her own! Celeste is great with dogs but does play pretty rough with them. Her new family definitely needs to work with her on manners and social skills. And be fully capable of establishing and consistently enforcing the rules of the household using positive reinforcement techniques. While good with other dogs, Celeste would definitely be too much for an older dog in the household. An ideal family for Celeste is one able to assimilate the ongoing energy, enthusiasm, and playfulness of a puppy into their lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Celeste to be the best version of herself! A secure fenced is required for this young pup; another younger or middle-aged pup in the family would also be advantageous. Celeste is crate-trained and is working on good house manners (housebreaking). She is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Her spay is included in her adoption fee. For information about adding this youngster to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the NW suburbs of Chicago, and adopts only locally.
