Story
Winston is a sweet, energetic 1-year-old boy (born June 10, 2024). He’s one of our dogs’ puppies and has grown into a loving, playful companion. Winston is potty trained and will go to the door and ring a bell when he needs to go outside. He’s full of energy and would do best in a home with a yard where he can run and play. Despite his playful side, he’s a total lapdog who loves cuddling and watching TV. Winston gets very excited when people come home and may jump up in excitement, so he’d do best in a home with older children. He’s not aggressive—just happy and eager to play! He is great with other dogs with the exception of a previous neighbors dog that didn’t do well with other dogs. He likes to chase and play with cats, though his energy may be too much for some. He loves his rope toys and stuffed animals, and is happiest when he’s close to his people. Winston would make a wonderful companion for someone who can give him lots of love, attention, and space to play.

Story
Missy AnnSpayed Female Lab mix3 Years 60 lbs Tripod superstarMissy Ann has been on quite the journey — and what a glow-up it’s been. After months of dedicated care and every effort to save her injured leg, Missy ultimately underwent an amputation. And then? She absolutely thrived.Missy previously had a non-healing wound on one leg that was later diagnosed as chondrosarcoma (a type of bone cancer). To fully address this and give her the best chance at long-term health, the affected leg was amputated. Based on her treatment and recovery, we believe Missy is now cancer-free. While she does not require any further medical care at this time, we want adopters to be aware of her history.Losing her leg hasn’t slowed her down one bit. Missy Ann has adjusted beautifully and gets around like it was never any other way. She’s been an honorary office dog during her recovery and has stolen hearts left and right with her playful, happy-go-lucky lab personality. She loves toys, enjoys playtime, and brings that classic lab joy wherever she goes. Missy Ann can be a little selective with other dogs, so a meet and greet is required to ensure a good match, but with the right fit she will be an amazing companion. After more than 4 months with us, we’ve grown incredibly attached to this special girl — which is exactly why we want nothing but the very best for her. Missy Ann has faced everything with resilience and grace, and now she’s ready for what she’s always deserved: a loving home of her own.You can read more about chondrosarcoma below https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/chondrosarcoma-in-dogs

Story
Hi! My name is Penelope and I am 1 years old. I am a shy girl that needs a patient family to take a chance on me. I am very sweet, VERY sweet, but I came from a home with quite a few other dogs and I have not met a lot of humans that were not my people. Strangers can be scary at first, but once I realize how kind you are, I will enjoy your presence! I am used to a warm couch and warm bodies to sleep next to, so I am a little confused on why I am on cold concrete all day, separated from my friends. I get to see them every once in a while of course, but I miss snuggling in a warm home. I do well with other dogs, and I would do well with kids too. If you have the ability, please come out to meet me and please be patient with me.Give the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at info@awlwarsaw.com if you have any questions about me!
