Hi there! My name is Delores,!I am a 9-year-old, medium-sized lab mix that was trying my best to survive living in the forest before AHeinz57 came and rescued me. Living in the forest was not easy for me, so my hard start to life has made me slow to trust people and leery of other dogs, but I have learned a lot since I arrived.The volunteers have described me as shy, sweet, and cautious, but when I see people I know, my tail wags with excitement! I have learned to take treats gently from hands, but I am still hesitant to be petted. I even allowed some of the volunteers to brush me and change my collar, which were big steps that were not so easy for me! I even love fluffy beds and keep my kennel clean. One thing is for sure is that the shelter life is so much better than the forest, but I would still love to be in a home to call my own!Since being here at the shelter, I not only do well with my buddy Howard and have grown closer enough to play with him in the yard, but I have also learned to play nicely with other dogs and may even do well with another dog in the home. Although I have not lived in a home with another dog, it may be a little difficult at first to find the right routine, but as long as I have proper and slow introductions to them, we can learn to get along. I would do best in an adult home since kids are too noisy and loud for me, as I can get scared easily. It will take multiple meetings with me and even then, I might not be the most social, but I promise to love you forgiving me a chance. I do require a fully fenced in yard as it will help keep me safe and secure from wandering away. With the fence being a requirement, an apartment or townhome would not work well for me, but I appreciate the thought of wishing me luck in finding the perfect home for me! Now that the majority of my pack have since been adopted, I hear the volunteers talk about how all of them are doing well in their homes, and how they wish the same for me and my buddy Howard. I would love the opportunity for a quiet, patient, and consistent home that will let me grow at my own pace but will also show me the perks of house living! All of us forest dogs have our little quirks, but that is what makes us special. After spending most of his life living outdoors alongside his sister, Cary, he`s now learning all about the comforts of living indoors. JD and Cary share a very special bond and absolutely love playing together. While they would love to find a home together, it is not a requirement, and JD is ready to find the perfect family of his own if needed.Because he spent much of his life outside, JD is still learning some of the basics of indoor living. He`s making great progress with potty training and is getting the hang of doing his business outside. He`s also learning to walk on a leash. It was a little scary for him at first, but with patience and encouragement, he`s becoming more comfortable every day.For JD`s safety and comfort, we are requiring a securely fenced yard in his adoptive home. Having a safe outdoor space helps him feel confident as he continues adjusting to life as a beloved family pet.JD appears to do well with other dogs and enjoys canine companionship. She`s learning the routine of pottying outside and is becoming more comfortable with all the new experiences that come her way. Like JD, she is also learning to walk on a leash. Because this handsome Lab mix is basically a professional cuddler with an athletic side hustle and he really should be living his best life in a home..with a person or family to call his own.Fenmore is an unbelievably cuddly, good-natured boy who will choose snuggles whenever they`re available. Dream job: Stuffy Tester His current ratings: all sruffies get an A+ for fun and an A for entertainment. Because really… what fun is a stuffy if you never get to see what it`s stuffed with?Best trait: His generosity. Fenmore believes cuddles should be given freely, frequently, and preferably while he`s smooshed right up against you.He`s also apparently been hiding an impressive athletic résumé. This boy can catch some serious air when he gets excited. High jumper in a past life? We`re not ruling it out.He would love a family with kiddos, although older kids may be the best match. He`s an enthusiastic guy and sometimes forgets that not everyone is built to withstand a full-speed Fenmore celebration. Fenmore is a fan of other dogs and has a blast in our playgroups. He proudly belongs to the Rough & Rowdy Crew because his philosophy is `if you`re gonna play… don`t do it halfway.`As with all of our doggos, a meet n greet with all family members residing in the home (people and doggos) is needed to make sure its a perfect match. Fenmore came to us after he and another one of our adoptables were found in an abandoned home. Their family had moved and left them behind along with their litter of puppies. We think it`s time he finds out what it`s really like to be a part of a loving family where he knows it`s for forever. Cuddly. Playful. Goofy. Athletic. Dog-friendly. People loving. Fenmore is just a sweet boy who is looking for a family to cuddle and love who will love him right back.
