Story
- Energetic guy who loves playing fetch and running around outside; LOVES tennis balls and is sometimes more interested in carrying them around than bringing them back to you - Likes to play by himself and will even roll his tennis ball around on his own - A snuggler, and his previous family said he liked to be close to them, especially at night - Loves food and food-based enrichment like treat puzzles- Was crate-trained in his previous home and has been potty trained here in the shelter; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule - Not a fan of loud noises, including fireworks - May be choosy about his dog friends and may like some dogs more than others (dog intro recommended) - Needs a home with no cats This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Grey Weight: 58.5 Age: 3yrs 8mths 1wks

Story
- Prefers to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Can be nervous around new people and things and is looking for someone who will treat him with understanding and take things at his pace until he feels comfortable - Knows sit - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for him; would benefit from a more mature home where all family members can help him build confidence - Can be an introvert around other dogs and may prefer one-on-one interactions or smaller groups of dog friends; may enjoy a like-minded dog friend in his new home (dog intro recommended) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Story
- Prefers to explore and do her own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once she's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - May need some time to warm up to new people, but once she knows you she likes to stick near you - Loves playing with toys and will bring them all back to you so you can throw them again; loves to play tug, and toys are a great way to bond with her! - Does best with a harness on walks - Looking for a teens-and-up home where everyone is old enough to enjoy her energy and help her build confidence - Can be socially awkward and tends to be a linebacker-type player with other dogs; will likely do best with a select group of rough-and-tumble dog friends with a similar play style (dog intro required) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program.
