Story
Arya is a beautiful lab/pit mix. She came to us as a rescue in november. We believe that she was kept tied out or in a crate for most of her life before we got her. She is a very sweet girl. She loves to cuddle and she is very quick at learning new tricks. She does have separation anxiety and we'll need a home where she can have someone with her or be with someone who has the time to work with her. We would love to keep her but we both work and commute for work and feel that we are not able to give her the time and attention that she needs to live her best life. She is completely up to date on all of her shots and has recently been spayed. She gets a monthly groom and nail trim and all the girls at The Grooming place love her. She is such an amazing dog and we really want her to go to a home that will love her deeply for her whole life. She is Crate trained. She is very loved and occasionally very spoiled.

Story
Meet Chase! He’s a loving and sweet boy looking for a forever home.. He would do best as an only pet or in a home with no small animals. Chase is incredibly food-motivated and eager to learn, making him a trainable companion. ***All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm tested before adoption.******We can not guarantee that a dog will be good with children, dogs, or cats. You'll need a meet & greet if you currently have a dog.******To do this safely and effectively, your dog will need to be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations before approval of a dog adoption through Boone Area Humane Society.***All animals have been spayed/neutered, have been tested for heartworm/feline leukemia, have had age appropriate vaccinations, been dewormed, is on flea and parasite prevention and has been microchipped.

Story
Sky is a gorgeous 3 year old 40ish lb lab mix who came to us with a gunshot wound and had to have her front leg amputated. She has recovered remarkably well and even does stairs just fine now. Sky's needs include a place with a fully fenced yard - she will take days if not a week or two to completely adjust to new people. This includes barking and not wanting to be touched much until she trusts you, so no apartments or young children for her forever home please. When she does feel comfortable with someone she will be their little shadow dog and never leave them alone - but with her past she does have stranger danger. She will likely need a few meets and at least a month long trial run to ensure she adjusts well to a new space. She would *love* another dog to play with and follow around in her forever home - she has seen cats and doesn't seem to want to destroy them so should be okay with those as well. This girl will be your best friend when she knows it's safe for her.Her adoption fee is $250 and she's fully vetted. If you have the setup and patience to give Sky a chance at forever, please put an application in at www.foreverhomedogs.org and we will get some meets set up!All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.

Story
Rowena is a 10ish year old lab mix (we did a DNA test and it came back lab/chow/golden retriever/pointer and several others) - about 60 lbs. She is house/kennel trained, and definitely wants to learn how to dog! She was found in 2019 living in a wood pile in Oklahoma protecting her puppies, so has some trauma there that needs worked through and a dedicated adopter will do so much for her. She needs a very structured living environment and a strong dog-savvy owner. She loves to be outside so would enjoy a nice physically fenced yard (no invisible fencing with her history, sorry). Privacy fencing will be preferred as she guards her territory. She will not do well in an apartment setting since she has a fear of strangers and needs muzzled on walks in strange places. She has been through heartworm treatment and will require an adopter who will keep her on preventatives and regular testing. She does well with dogs as long as they aren't tiny/can't be mistaken for squirrels or rabbits. She chases cats. She is food protective with other dogs, so will need to be fed separate / in kennel as a precaution. Once she is comfortable with you, she likes to snuggle and give kisses and hugs -- but it may take a few weeks for her to warm up fully. No kids for Roe -- fast movements and small creatures with her don't mix. Her adoption fee is $250. If you have an easy-going and patient lifestyle that will give this girl the structure she needs and are interested in meeting Rowena, please put an application in at www.foreverhomedogs.org and we will set up a meet with you!All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Story
- Sweet, funny boy who loves toys, belly rubs and soft dog beds - Don't be surprised if he gives you kisses once he knows you! - Previous family said he knows sit, down, shake, sit pretty, speak, and high-five; very treat-motivated and fun to teach - Does pretty well on a leash and enjoys going on walks - Young children can make him nervous, so he's looking for a teens-and-up home right now- Tends to be very uncomfortable around other dogs and avoid interacting with them; needs to be the only dog in his home right now All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
