HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email Petbehavior@arl-iowa.org. ---- Prefers to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Can be nervous around new people and things and is looking for someone who will treat him with understanding and take things at his pace until he feels comfortable - Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip: "Very sweet pup who LOVES truck rides. Has a lot of energy to keep going on walks, but will lay down and relax with you if needed." - Likes to stick his head out the window on car rides - Will like having durable toys he can chew on as much as he wants - Enjoys the occasional tummy rub - Knows sit and quickly learned shake - Prefers to eat his food in peace; looking for a teens-and-up home right now where everyone is old enough to understand this, and if he goes to a multi-pet home, this will also need to be managed - we're happy to talk with you about ways to work with him on this when you visit - Can be an introvert around other dogs and may prefer one-on-one interactions or smaller groups of dog friends; may enjoy a like-minded dog friend in his new home (dog intro recommended) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Brown Weight: 50 Age: 2yrs 1mths 2wks

Story
- Energetic guy who loves playing fetch and running around outside; LOVES tennis balls - will carry them around and roll them so he can chase them - Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip: "My son and I had Aesir for the day. He was such a sweet boy. He loved going for a car ride and sitting between the seats so he could feel the cool air. He did so good on the leash walking him around Copper Creek, and he absolutely loved going to Dairy Zone for a pup cup." - A snuggler who likes to be close to his family, especially at night - Loves food and food-based enrichment like treat puzzles- Was crate-trained in his previous home and has been potty trained here in the shelter; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule - Not a fan of loud noises, including fireworks - May be choosy about his dog friends and may like some dogs more than others, but has done well in dog play groups here in the shelter and overall has enjoyed playing and lounging with the other dogs during those sessions (dog intro recommended) - Needs a home with no cats This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. - Goofy pup who loves toys - May need a little time to get to know new people- May prefer to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Knows sit and down - Does best with a harness on walks - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for him; would benefit from a more mature home where everyone is old enough to understand his signals - Can be socially awkward around other dogs (dog intro required) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. - Spent time in a foster home and was definitely a couch potato; he loved to be around his foster family and was happy to just lounge - Likes tennis balls, squeaky toys and attention- Prefers to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Knows sit and shake and walks nicely on a leash - Lived with another dog previously, but can be socially awkward around new dogs (dog intro required) - Did well with the cats in his foster home and left them alone for the most part This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- A cuddle bug once he has had time to warm up - Will do anything for food and treats - it's the fastest way to make friends with him - Loves scratching his back on grass and carpet and rolls over and wiggles around like a cutie - Can curl into the most perfect circle just like a cat - Knows sit and likes treats - Enjoys walks and chewing on antlers- Sometimes when he's sleeping he won't want to actually wake up and get up, but you can tell he's listening from the thump of his tail wagging - Has had no potty accidents in his foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine- Not a fan of loud noises or thunderstorms - Can be nervous outside his home, particularly with energetic or fast-moving children or strangers; looking for a home with more mature family members who can help him build confidence and learn to socialize with people outside his circle - Enjoys like-minded dog friends and did great with the dog in his foster home; also participated in dog play groups here at the shelter and can adapt to several different play styles; seems to warm up best when there's another dog present to take cues from, and we think he'll do best if he has a dog friend in his new homeThe ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs.
