She does not get on furniture or chew on items left out. She will face outbound while outdoors as a protector response.She has had professional training for basic commands.

- Loves spending time with people and will do best with a family who does not leave him for long periods of time - Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip: "He is very adventurous and energetic. He'd do great with an active family! He's also pretty goofy, and spent a lot of time rolling around in the grass and trying to grab a bite of nearby leaves when we weren't watching. He's super affectionate and playful and does well with strangers." - Is not the biggest fan of the kennel and may need some help from his new family with that - Lived with young children in a previous home - Has done well in dog playgroups here in the shelter and would likely do well in doggy daycare - Needs a home with no cats This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. Story
Mickey needs more room to play and a best buddy hooman! He was born on an Arizona Native Am Reservation and roamed free. We adopted him at 5 mo. and he was a ball of polar bear love. Mickey is now turning 7 and 65 lbs of lean athleticism. He has less fluffy coat than most great pyr dogs and has never worked as a guard on a ranch, but he has always had a big yard to run and play. Now we've been forced to move to a small house and yard due to the dire illness of his owner. Mickey has female dog-mates at home but doesn't get along with male dogs when around his female sisters. Meeting new people of all ages is one of his favorite things. He loves to play ball, collect stuffy toys, and play with friends. His new owner should know this strong opinionated breed. He barks at dogs going by, but not continuing. "Heel" still needs work, but he has leash training. Sit, stay, come, down, leave-it, gentle, drop-it, all work! Mickey is available at Animal Rescue League in Des Moines.
