Story
Are you a lonely introvert looking for a devoted, super smart, and completely goofy best friend? I just might be your guy! Here at MAS I am staying in the quieter building; when I go home I would like to keep my living situation more low-key as well. Because I am a nervous-nelly, my adopter needs be a confident and experienced leader willing to take it slow and really get to know me before I go home. It is much more comfortable for me to build up to a relationship with new people (I am kinda like an introvert myself); I like to take it easy and go for a couple walks before we label our relationship as friends. Once we are friends, I am known for my "Trevor hugs" with my favorite people and I am quite a cuddley boy (I love belly rubs)! Car rides are one of my favorite things, usually car rides mean fun adventures together! If there is potential for water activities, you may want to bring a towel - because you better believe I am going to be jumping in! Going for rural, more scenic walks is another big highlight in my days. Not to brag, but my leash manners are pretty good (except when there's something I have to mark as mine - then I will lead the way there). As far as the nitty-gritty details go, I would be happy to befriend your cat, but I am not very interested in hanging around other dogs or kids. I have some allergies and anxiety that I have long-term medications for, but the MAS staff will go over the details before I go home. DOB: 1/21/2015 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.
