Donatello is a striking 7-month-old dog weighing approximately 60 pounds. His sleek, black coat gleams under the sunlight, while his intelligence shines through in his quick grasp of commands. In addition to being a genius, Donatello has a playful, derpy personality that never fails to bring a smile to faces. His goofiness adds charm to his personality, making him endearingly clumsy at times. Donatello is an active pup who would relish the opportunity to romp on the beach, chasing waves and playing in the sand. His friendly nature and love for interaction make him a great companion for large, playful canine buddies. This Labrador and Pit Bull Terrier mix is ready to embark on new adventures and create cherished memories with his human family. Donatello is crate and potty trained, neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines. His adoption fee is $275 and you can apply to bring him home at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/ ##1863588##

Our Michelangelo is the sweetest boy on the Earth. We adore him. He is a 25 pound, 5 month old Lab Mix with the cutest little face and the very best heart. He is incredibly loving and snugly, and he brings so much love and laughter to his foster home. This kind hearted, lovable soul has some health concerns that will be part of his life forever: he has hydrocephalus and will need to take Prilosec every day, and have regular check ups with a veterinary neurologist. Michelangelo is crate trained, and he does well with other dogs and humans of all ages. Michelangelo is neutered and up to date on shots. His adoption fee is $300. Atom is 3 years old and approximately 50 pounds. He is always down to play with other dogs, go for a walk, or show you how smart he is by learning new things faster than you can teach them. He is considering a career as a model if this whole adoption thing doesn't come through for him. But he would rather stick with finding a family. Atom is incredibly handsome, current on vaccines, microchipped, and will be neutered prior to his adoption.  His adoption fee is $250 and you can apply to love Atom forever at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/ ##1961119##

Story
Are you a lonely introvert looking for a devoted, super smart, and completely goofy best friend? I just might be your guy! Here at MAS I am staying in the quieter building; when I go home I would like to keep my living situation more low-key as well. Because I am a nervous-nelly, my adopter needs be a confident and experienced leader willing to take it slow and really get to know me before I go home. It is much more comfortable for me to build up to a relationship with new people (I am kinda like an introvert myself); I like to take it easy and go for a couple walks before we label our relationship as friends. Once we are friends, I am known for my "Trevor hugs" with my favorite people and I am quite a cuddley boy (I love belly rubs)! Car rides are one of my favorite things, usually car rides mean fun adventures together! If there is potential for water activities, you may want to bring a towel - because you better believe I am going to be jumping in! Going for rural, more scenic walks is another big highlight in my days. Not to brag, but my leash manners are pretty good (except when there's something I have to mark as mine - then I will lead the way there). As far as the nitty-gritty details go, I would be happy to befriend your cat, but I am not very interested in hanging around other dogs or kids. I have some allergies and anxiety that I have long-term medications for, but the MAS staff will go over the details before I go home. DOB: 1/21/2015 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Story
Oliver loves to play fetch, though he often needs encouragement to give the ball/stick back. He knows come, sit, lay down, and stay, though he doesn't always listen the first time. He is kennel-trained for over-night and while we are gone during the day. We are rehoming because he has now become over-protective of our son. His situation has also been complicated by his recent diagnosis of arthritis, which is unusual as he will only be 2 in May. He has never been aggressive toward our son or any other children, but he has snapped at adults if they reach for him before he gets a chance to sniff him or if they get between him and our son. He also struggles with some food aggression. He has not been around other dogs much, but when he is he's curious. He wants to play with our cats but is sometimes too rough. Oliver needs an experienced owner who has the capacity to give him the care and additional training that he needs. He can be a really great dog; we just can't risk our son's safety.

Story
Meet Rocky! Rocky came to us after his owners could no longer care for him so he is now searching for a new forever home! Rocky is a Lab/Mastiff mix that only about 1 year old and weighs about 85 pounds! Rocky has lots of love and energy and would love to find a family to love him. Rocky is housebroken and would do best with older kids. Rocky gets quite excited and no fault of his own may knock over small children by accident. Rocky would do best in a home without cats but does good with other dogs. We do require a dog intro with any future k-9 siblings to make sure everyone gets along. Rocky is up to date in his vaccinations, dewormed, flea treated, heartworm tested negative, microchipped & neutered! If you are interested in giving Rocky a forever home please contact the shelter directly at 989-831-7302 to set up an appointment! *All adoptions are done by appointment only*

Story
Titus, a senior 12 year old lab mix, is as gentle and sweet as can be! He is looking for the perfect home to live out his senior years. He currently lives with three kids (the youngest of which is 11). While he lives, and does well with, his foster family’s resident female dog, he does not do well with most other dogs. He also can not go to a home with cats. Titus absolutely loves every single person he’s ever met and he shows his excitement in the funniest ways! His ideal home would have someone who is home most of the day, although he can be left for several hours and do just fine. He loves being with people, but is also just as happy to nap in another room…just don’t be surprised when he shows up to check on you after he wakes up. Titus gets spurts of silly playfulness and enjoys playing with toys, especially bones and toys that make noise. He has a couple of habits his foster family would like you to know about. He likes to sleep on couches and dog beds. He loves going outside but, due to arthritis, he prefers not to go for walks. Also, he likes to carry his food bowl around room to room when he's eating…you can always find him by following the trail of spilled food. He'd do best if his bowl is stabilized so he can't move it. And when he meets a friendly person, he’ll walk in between their legs and stand there until he is petted. He’s a big dog and it is funny to see, but it can be rather unexpected to others! He came to his foster family with this habit and he is not interested in breaking it, it’s how he shows his affection! And speaking of food, Titus came to the rescue extremely overweight. His previous owner, who had him for about five months, worked very hard with him and helped him lose ten pounds. He has lost an additional 13 pounds while with his foster family. He is also a little picky with the food he will eat. Through trial and error, we've discovered some that make his 'favorite' list.Recent medical records state that Titus has arthritis, and he recently started taking medication. The medication is definitely helping him. He can do some stairs like when going outside, but he currently lives in a two story house and will not go up an entire flight of stairs. He also has some lipomas, likely due to his old age. He has had these checked out by the vet and no action/treatment was recommended for them.If you think you'd like to meet Titus to see if he'd be a good fit, you can check him out on the KAR's website. His foster parents are BValade.    The adoption fee for Titus is $200.Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Titus. A volunteer will contact you as soon as possible. Click here to go to the online adoption form All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue dogs & puppies are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs have been heartworm tested and if appropriate (age and time of year) all dogs and puppies are given heartworm preventative. All are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Dogs and puppies are given distemper vaccines and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional distemper vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Any canine over 4 months of age is brought current on the Rabies vaccine. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. Dogs are individually priced as above. Please note that we do not ship dogs and we cannot guarantee that a long trip to see a foster dog will result in an adoption or taking the dog home on that day. It is in the best interest of pooch and owner to enroll in an obedience class soon after adoption. After all, you have a lot to learn about your new friend. The Kalamazoo Dog Training Club offers a discount to owners with newly adopted dogs. Enroll before any behavior problems start - you won't regret it! Story
Bea is a very sweet girl who loves giving attention to anyone who comes her way. She is almost 2 years old, and spayed. She has never shown any signs of aggression, and plays well with other dogs. She would be best fitted in a home with a family who has lots of time to spend and play with her, especially with a big backyard. She loves the beach and water, going on walks, and napping next to you on the couch. She does have epilepsy that has become controlled on two medications. She also has a patellar luxation on her R hind leg that is worse in the cold, and she can take an as needed pain medication for that.
