Story
Domino was found as a stray and never claimed. He was born in March of 2022. He is an 80 lb Lab mixed with an energetic goofball. He should be fine with older kids and adults. Domino has some dog friends here, but isn't fond of others, so an introduction to your dog would be a good idea to see if they click. Domino also should be in a cat free home. Domino has a big personality and loves attention, he keeps a clean kennel here, so the transition to home should be easier. Domino really wants a home and a family. Will you come and make his dreams come true? All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Emmett arrived from the city pound on 7/12/2025 when his legal hold was finished. He had been found tied to a table at a local park. He is approximately 2 to 3 years old and is a mystery mixed breed. Maybe some hound, shepherd, lab...it's a guessing game. He does have some crazy double dew claws on his hind feet that give him a unique quality. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Emmett is a bit unsure of himself and can be quite shy at first. However he's really quite loving and goofy. We think he has the potential to be a fun companion. He does appear to be okay with other dogs. We don't know about cats at all. We're not sure if he has ever been around young kids. He will require some basic training in all areas and will need regular exercise. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 9, 2025, 9:11 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rello is an approximately 6 month old lab/husky mix who came to the shelter as an owner surrender. He wasn't allowed at a rental property. He's a happy and friendly young guy who would make a great addition to a family. He will be vet checked and neutered on Feb. 11th and his fee is $150. Rello did live in a home with kids and cats and did very well. He has also done well with other dogs. As a young dog, he does need some basic training but is enthusiastic and ready to learn. He's an active young dog who will need regular exercise. He still has some growing left to do so we do expect him to be a pretty large dog at maturity. His former owners were working on house training with him, but he still needs a little bit of work on that. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Margie is a happy go lucky doodle (mix of standard poodle and lab and/or golden retriever) who came to us from the city pound. She more than fulfilled her legal stray hold and no one ever claimed her. She is still fairly active although we did find out she is around 8 years old. She has a coarse, wiry coat and currently weighs 64 pounds. She has been vet checked, spayed, and microchipped, and her adoption fee is $150. Margie is a nice, strong girl, who appears to have had a little basic training. She loves to be with people so she's looking for a home in which she won't be alone for long hours. She is considered a senior but still has a lot of pep in her step. We do think she would do okay with another well mannered MALE dog. We found out from people who did know her previously that she's not a fan of cats. We think she'd be fine with kids, too, but she is large and strong so supervision is always needed.
