Story
Meet Derek! At four and a half months old and just over 20 pounds, this curious pup is ready to discover the world with you. Derek arrived at BENCHS alongside his brother, and now he’s looking for an active home where he can continue to learn, play, and explore. He is incredibly inquisitive and loves engaging with people, always eager to see what you’re up to and be part of it. Toys are a big hit for him, and he’s at that fun stage where everything is an adventure. Derek is currently working on potty training and will need a home that can continue to guide him with consistency and patience as he polishes those skills. He would likely do well either as the only dog or with another social, friendly dog who can help show him the ropes. We are unsure how he would do with cats, though he has shown some interest. If you’re looking for a playful, people-loving puppy to grow alongside, Derek might just be your perfect match.

Robbie very obviously doesn’t believe in strangers and loves meeting new people and new animals. We believe Robbie can be a perfect edition to any home and we look forward to meeting a new family for him!! About Me: Hi! My name is Robbie. I came from Alabama with 9 of my siblings. It was a little scary at first but I get to see my brother from time to time and I love getting to play with him! I live with a cat right now and we get along very well. I love kisses and cuddling up with my foster family. I love my toys, especially my stuffed broccoli, I take it with me everywhere. I love meeting new people. I don’t hesitate to explore as I am very curious about new things. I love being outside and love chewing on sticks just as much as I love cuddling on the couch. I love to flop down on your lap and will melt into your arms when I get pets and kisses. I love chasing the cat in our house, because I always think he’s trying to play. Sometimes when I calm down we can play together very well. I look forward to meeting you and finding my forever home. Love, Robbie     August 27, 2026, 1:17 pm

Story
Name: Reik Age: Puppy, DOB: 4/18/26 Gender: Male Breed: Hound /Lab mix Weight: 22 lbs Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Yes  Child Friendly: Yes House Trained: Yes- puppy on a schedule  Crate Trained: Yes Energy Level: Puppy Temperament: Playful, social, friendly, smart Requirements: Not rental appropriate Adoption Fee: $525 + tax  To adopt, go to:  www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   From the Foster Family: This sweet puppy is full of personality and loves to stay busy! Favorite activities include carrying around sticks, playing with stuffed toys, and an enthusiastic game of tug-of-war. He's always ready to chase the resident dog around the yard and then happily climb into the foster mom's lap for cuddles and attention. He is used to all the construction workers and equipment noise as they are redoing our road.   He is comfortable and confident on leash. Potty training is also progressing well, especially with a consistent routine. He goes to the door when he needs to go potty now. This smart, affectionate puppy is eager to learn and would thrive in a home that will continue providing love, playtime, and positive reinforcement.   He is very good about going into his kennel with no issue. He sleeps in his kennel at night and goes in during the day while I work. He gets to see his puppy sitter for potty and playtime in the middle of the day. And more play time after dinner in the evening.    If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who will keep you smiling, this puppy could be the perfect addition to your family!   About Me: I was so lucky to get to come to MN from Alabama for a great life with a new family. That van ride took a long time, but I don't  mind being on the open road. I am learning the ropes around here by following everyone around. I have all these cool toys here to keep me busy. Every once in a while I find a sock to toss around. The resident dog and I get along well and I love playing with him.    I love all the sticks in the yard and I love to find the biggest one to drag around.  After a good play session I like to cuddle up with my foster mom in the recliner and take a snooze.August 27, 2026, 1:17 pm

Robin has a wonderfully balanced personality. While she enjoys chasing a tennis ball or wrestling with another puppy, she's generally calm and well-behaved. She settles down quickly after playtime. She’s affectionate, and loves to cuddle up on the sofa. She also loves exploring and just laying in grass soaking up the sun.   Robin is curious and eager to learn. Like any puppy, she'll need continued training and consistency, but she pays attention, and understands the word "no".    Robin would thrive with a fenced yard where she can play, or just relax on her own.   If you're looking for a puppy who's playful without being over-the-top, is affectionate, and has a easygoing temperament, Robin just might be your perfect match! About Me: I might be shy to begin with, but once I get to know you, I'm your best friend. I am calmer and more attentive than most dogs my age.  August 27, 2026, 1:17 pm

Name:  Cody Pawterson Age:  Puppy DOB: 4/26/26 Gender: Male Breed:  Shepherd /Labrador Retriever mix Weight:  32 lbs Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Yes  Child Friendly: Yes-gentle older school-aged children, please House Trained: Yes, on a schedule Crate Trained:  Yes  Energy Level: Moderate Temperament: Cheerful, playful, loving, easygoing, intelligent Requirement: Not rental appropriate  Adoption Fee: $525 + tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From the Foster Family: Cody is our very first foster puppy, and from the moment he came into our home, he has filled it with love, light, and endless joy. When Cody was found wandering the streets of our community, he was alone and carrying injuries no puppy should ever have to endure. The severity of his wounds suggested he may have been attacked by another dog—or even used as a bait dog. While we'll never know exactly what happened to him before he was rescued, we do know one thing: Cody refused to let his past define him. Watching him heal has been nothing short of incredible. His physical wounds have faded, but even more amazing has been seeing his heart heal. Cody has taught us that yesterday doesn't have to determine tomorrow. Every new day is an opportunity for trust, love, adventure, and happiness. He greets each morning with a wagging tail, eager kisses, and excitement for whatever comes next. Cody is incredibly smart and loves to learn. He picks up new things quickly, listens well, and genuinely wants to make his people happy. He adores new chew toys, exploring new places, and playing with his foster brothers and sisters. He has a gentle, loving spirit and gets along beautifully with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and gerbils. Even our leopard gecko gave him a little kiss on the snout! Like every puppy, Cody is still learning. He's working on potty training and doing well with a schedule, understanding what belongs in his mouth and what doesn't, and realizing just how strong he is. The puppy who once wandered the streets injured and alone has blossomed into a happy, affectionate, resilient little soul. Cody doesn't carry bitterness—only hope. He is ready for the next chapter of his life with a family who will cherish him as much as he will cherish them. Cody isn't just looking for a forever home—he's ready to fill one with unconditional love. Whoever welcomes this incredible boy into their family won't just be adopting a puppy; they'll be gaining a loyal best friend whose greatest strength has always been his heart.  August 27, 2026, 1:17 pm

Litter.  Dad is a mystery.  Renee is very loving and cuddly.  She loves to follow me around and if I am in the recliner, couch or patio chair she wants to be right there with me.  I have taken her in the car a couple of times and she is wonderful.  She learned my dog door all by herself.  I have 3 bigger dogs in the house and she is good with them. She sleeps in the kennel over night and is doing well. She makes me think she has more of the lab qualities in her.  I threw a tennis ball and she ran and got it and brought it back to me.  Very impressive.  She is going to make a wonderful addition to any family.  Please fill out an application and come meet this sweet thing. About Me:  Well hello everyone. For only a young pup, I sure have experienced a lot.  I have 9 siblings that were able to come to MN with me.  We are all in different homes now.  I love exploring and love my humans.  I am smart and listen pretty good already.  I love going for a car ride.  I get to be the co pilot and lay in the front seat.  I am looking for a family to have some wonderful adventures with.  I will be by your side till the end.  Please fill out an application and come meet me.  You won’t be sorry.  I am that good of a catch!!!  Till we meet, have a great day.  Renee August 27, 2026, 1:17 pm
