About Me:  I can’t believe how long that drive was to MN.  I am really happy to be here, even though at first I seemed very scared.  I’ve had a lot of things happen to me in my first year of life.  I am looking for a family that will take time with me and show me what a dog is supposed to do. HASRA saved myself my sister and me from living in that kennel for months on Christmas Day.  What a relief that was.  Now I am in MN and determined to find that family that will bring the best out of me.  Please think about filling out an application, and let's meet!  Thanks Laddie December 6, 2025, 9:31 pm

Name: Enzo Age: 2.5 years Gender: Male Breed: Labradoodle (Labrador Retriever / Poodle Mix) Weight: 47 lbs Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: No Cats Please Child Friendly: Yes – older children preferred House Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Energy Level: Moderate / Active Temperament: Loving, cuddly, intelligent, playful Home Requirements: Not apartment-appropriate; could be suitable for a duplex or condo Adoption Fee: $400 + tax To adopt, go to:  www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html  Meet Enzo!  If you're looking for a loyal shadow, a goofy playmate, and the sweetest snuggle buddy, Enzo is your guy!  This handsome, affectionate boy loves nothing more than being close to his foster mom and proudly carrying around any squeaky toy he can get his paws on. He’s an expert at making people smile with his happy energy and goofy nature.  Enzo’s Best Qualities: • House trained and crate trained • Knows sit, shake, and is so close to mastering down • Loves walks and adores romping in the fresh snow • Sweet, cuddly, and very people-focused  Ideal Home: Enzo previously lived in a home with cats, and he found them a bit too exciting to chase. For everyone’s comfort and safety (especially the cats), Enzo is looking for a cat-free home where he can truly exist without temptation. He would thrive with a dog companion who matches his energy level and playful style. Enzo does best in a structured environment with a confident, engaged handler who provides clear rules, boundaries, and plenty of enrichment. He’s a fun-loving, enthusiastic player who may not always recognize when other dogs need a break, so consistent guidance and leadership are key to helping him succeed and build positive canine friendships. If you're searching for a loving, playful companion who’s ready to be your new best friend, Enzo can’t wait to meet you!       December 29, 2025, 1:42 pm

Story
Dexter is a 30-lb mixed breed with a sweet, personable nature and a lot of love to give. He enjoys being around people and soaking up attention, and he has a nice balance of playful energy and relaxed, easygoing moments. Dexter was recently involved in a dog fight with another male dog, and because of that experience, he would do best in a home as the only dog or with a very friendly, social, well-matched canine companion who respects boundaries. With thoughtful introductions and the right fit, Dexter can thrive and feel secure. His medium size makes him a great option for many different households, whether you’re looking for a walking buddy, a couch companion, or both. Dexter is ready for a fresh start in a calm, loving home where he can feel safe, supported, and truly part of the family. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving dog who deserves a second chance, Dexter may be your perfect match.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Big, beautiful, and full of life — Channing is a young chocolate lab with a story that deserves the happiest of endings. He came to BENCHS after being seized by the Police Department when he was found abandoned in a rental unit. When he arrived to the impound, he was severely emaciated… but this incredible boy never stopped fighting for his second chance. Today, thanks to good care and good food, Channing is a healthy nearly 80 lbs, and he’s finally ready to find the family he’s always deserved. Channing is estimated to be around 2 years old, though he has all the playful, goofy energy of a much younger pup. True to his lab roots, he LOVES toys — give him a big bucket of them and he’ll happily scatter them around the house as he entertains himself. He thrives with exercise, enrichment, and an active lifestyle. He is sweet and friendly, but because he still takes treats with a lot of enthusiasm, we recommend a home without very small children while he continues working on gentle manners. He is also a strong dog physically and will benefit from a family comfortable with big, energetic breeds. Channing is dog-selective, especially with intact males (which he did not care for at the impound). He may do best as an only dog or with a carefully matched companion. We’re still unsure how he feels about cats. Despite everything he’s been through, Channing is a happy, joyful dog with a huge heart. He’s ready to leave his past behind and start the next chapter — one filled with love, play, stability, and a family who will never abandon him again. If you’re looking for a fun, loyal, energetic companion who will adore you with his whole giant lab heart, Channing might be your perfect match.

Good with dogs,
Story
Bernie is a happy, goofy young pup who is just over 5 months old and already weighing in at 30 lbs, with plenty of growing left to do. He’s a high-energy, silly lab-mix type (we can’t say for sure, but his looks and personality sure suggest it!) who brings enthusiasm and smiles wherever he goes. This sweet boy loves food and bully sticks and is extremely treat-motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. Bernie would do well as an only dog, or in a home with a kind, well-mannered older dog who can help show him the ropes. He is currently working on potty training and learning how to crate train, so he’ll need a patient, consistent family ready to continue his puppy education. We are unsure how Bernie would do with cats, but at his young age, he is typically very trainable with proper introductions and guidance. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate pup with lots of potential and a classic goofy lab-mix vibe, Bernie may be the perfect addition to your family

Story
Denver is a very sweet, affectionate boy who shows his love in the most endearing way—lots and lots of kisses. If you’re a fan of doggy licks, Denver is absolutely your guy. Licking is his love language, and he’s always eager to share affection with his people. Denver is extremely food-motivated and very eager for treats. Because of this, we believe he may have experienced food insecurity earlier in life, which has made him especially focused on snacks and mealtimes. This also means he’s highly motivated for training, as food is a big reward for him. He would likely do best as an only dog, where he can feel secure and confident, or possibly with another very social, well-trained dog who respects boundaries. We are unsure how Denver would do with cats, but given his young, trainable age, he has great potential with proper introductions and guidance. Denver is a loving, eager-to-please pup who just wants consistency, reassurance, and plenty of positive reinforcement. With the right home, he’ll repay you with loyalty, devotion, and endless kisses
