Story
Meet Derek! At four and a half months old and just over 20 pounds, this curious pup is ready to discover the world with you. Derek arrived at BENCHS alongside his brother, and now he’s looking for an active home where he can continue to learn, play, and explore. He is incredibly inquisitive and loves engaging with people, always eager to see what you’re up to and be part of it. Toys are a big hit for him, and he’s at that fun stage where everything is an adventure. Derek is currently working on potty training and will need a home that can continue to guide him with consistency and patience as he polishes those skills. He would likely do well either as the only dog or with another social, friendly dog who can help show him the ropes. We are unsure how he would do with cats, though he has shown some interest. If you’re looking for a playful, people-loving puppy to grow alongside, Derek might just be your perfect match.

Robbie very obviously doesn’t believe in strangers and loves meeting new people and new animals. We believe Robbie can be a perfect edition to any home and we look forward to meeting a new family for him!! About Me: Hi! My name is Robbie. I came from Alabama with 9 of my siblings. It was a little scary at first but I get to see my brother from time to time and I love getting to play with him! I live with a cat right now and we get along very well. I love kisses and cuddling up with my foster family. I love my toys, especially my stuffed broccoli, I take it with me everywhere. I love meeting new people. I don’t hesitate to explore as I am very curious about new things. I’ve been doing a better job of going potty outside instead of inside then when i first came to live with my foster family. I’m slowly learning to use a bell to alert my family about having to go outside. I love being outside and love chewing on sticks just as much as I love cuddling on the couch. I love to flop down on your lap and will melt into your arms when I get pets and kisses. I love chasing the cat in our house, because I always think he’s trying to play. Sometimes when I calm down we can play together very well. I look forward to meeting you and finding my forever home. Love, Robbie     August 23, 2026, 7:21 pm

Name: Reik Age: Puppy, DOB: 4/18/26 Gender: Male Breed: Hound /Lab mix Weight: 22 lbs Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Yes  Child Friendly: Yes House Trained: In progress, puppy doing well with routine! Crate Trained: Yes Energy Level: Puppy Temperament: Playful, social, friendly, smart Requirements: Not rental appropriate To adopt, go to:  www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   From the Foster Family: This sweet puppy is full of personality and loves to stay busy! Favorite activities include carrying around sticks, playing with stuffed toys, and an enthusiastic game of tug-of-war. He's always ready to chase the resident dog around the yard and then happily climb into the foster mom's lap for cuddles and attention. He is used to all the construction workers and equipment noise as they are redoing our road.   He is comfortable and confident on leash. Potty training is also progressing well, especially with a consistent routine. He goes to the door when he needs to go potty now. This smart, affectionate puppy is eager to learn and would thrive in a home that will continue providing love, playtime, and positive reinforcement.   He is very good about going into his kennel with no issue. He sleeps in his kennel at night and goes in during the day while I work. He gets to see his puppy sitter for potty and playtime in the middle of the day. And more play time after dinner in the evening.    If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who will keep you smiling, this puppy could be the perfect addition to your family!   About Me: I was so lucky to get to come to MN from Alabama for a great life with a new family. That van ride took a long time, but I don't  mind being on the open road. I am learning the ropes around here by following everyone around. I have all these cool toys here to keep me busy. Every once in a while I find a sock to toss around. The resident dog and I get along well and I love playing with him.    I love all the sticks in the yard and I love to find the biggest one to drag around.  After a good play session I like to cuddle up with my foster mom in the recliner and take a snooze.August 23, 2026, 7:21 pm

Robin has a wonderfully balanced personality. While she enjoys chasing a tennis ball or wrestling with another puppy, she's generally calm and well-behaved. She settles down quickly after playtime. She’s affectionate, and loves to cuddle up on the sofa. She also loves exploring and just laying in grass soaking up the sun.   Robin is curious and eager to learn. Like any puppy, she'll need continued training and consistency, but she pays attention, and understands the word "no".    Robin would thrive with a fenced yard where she can play, or just relax on her own.   If you're looking for a puppy who's playful without being over-the-top, is affectionate, and has a easygoing temperament, Robin just might be your perfect match! About Me: I might be shy to begin with, but once I get to know you, I'm your best friend. I am calmer and more attentive than most dogs my age.  August 23, 2026, 7:21 pm

Name: Rockee Age: Puppy / DOB 4/18/26 Gender: Male Breed: Hound /Lab mix Weight: 13 lbs Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Yes  Child Friendly: Yes House Trained: In progress, doing exceptionally well with routine Crate Trained: Yes Energy Level: Puppy Temperament:  curious, playful, smart, affectionate  Requirements: Not rental appropriate, can transfer to adoptive home on or after August 21st Adoption Fee: $550 + tax To adopt, go to:  www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   From the Foster Family:  When Rockee arrived in Minnesota from Alabama, everything was new to him. Like many puppies, he approached unfamiliar sights and experiences with a little caution at first—but it doesn't take long for his curiosity and confidence to shine through.   Rockee is the sweetest mix of playful, gentle, and affectionate. He loves romping around the yard with our resident foster dog, and watching the two of them chase each other is pure joy. He's wonderful with our school-age children, who have quickly become some of his favorite playmates. His goofy puppy antics and gentle nature keep us smiling every day.   What has impressed us most is how incredibly smart and eager to learn he is. Rockee listens remarkably well for such a young pup and is already catching on to commands and potty training with ease. He truly wants to please, making him a dream to work with and a puppy who will thrive with continued positive training.   After a good play session, Rockee is happiest curled up in someone's lap for a well-earned nap or doesn't mind snoozing in his crate. He loves deeply, trusts wholeheartedly, and forms bonds quickly with the people who care for him.   It has been such a privilege to give Rockee a safe, loving, and secure start as he begins this next chapter. Now all he needs is a forever family to continue showing him just how wonderful life can be. Whoever welcomes Rockee home won't just be adopting a puppy—they'll be gaining a loyal best friend. About Me:  Hi! I'm Rockee!   I came to Minnesota from Alabama with my brothers and sisters, and I'm ready to find my forever family! New things can make me a little shy at first, but once I know I'm safe, my playful, curious personality comes out.   I love playing with other dogs, chasing around the yard, and spending time with kids. My foster family says I'm a smart boy because I'm learning potty training and commands really fast.   When I'm all tuckered out, my favorite place is snuggled up in someone's lap or tucked safely in my crate. I have a big heart, love my people with everything I've got, and can't wait to go home to my forever family.         August 23, 2026, 7:21 pm

Litter.  Dad is a mystery.  Renee is very loving and cuddly.  She loves to follow me around and if I am in the recliner, couch or patio chair she wants to be right there with me.  I have taken her in the car a couple of times and she is wonderful.  She learned my dog door all by herself.  I have 3 bigger dogs in the house and she is good with them. She sleeps in the kennel over night and is doing well.  We are working on house training. She makes me think she has more of the lab qualities in her.  I threw a tennis ball and she ran and got it and brought it back to me.  Very impressive.  She is going to make a wonderful addition to any family.  Please fill out an application and come meet this sweet thing. About Me:  Well hello everyone. For only a young pup, I sure have experienced a lot.  I have 9 siblings that were able to come to MN with me.  We are all in different homes now.  I love exploring and love my humans.  I am smart and listen pretty good already.  I love going for a car ride.  I get to be the co pilot and lay in the front seat.  I am looking for a family to have some wonderful adventures with.  I will be by your side till the end.  Please fill out an application and come meet me.  You won’t be sorry.  I am that good of a catch!!!  Till we meet, have a great day.  Renee August 23, 2026, 7:21 pm
