Story
Skip is a handsome lab/pit mix who would love to meet you! He has a great smile, which spreads across his cute face when you give him pets or throw his ball. He is affectionate and endearing and loves to play! He is very strong on a leash and will pull especially hard if there is something to chase (like a rabbit). Skip is very picky about canine friends, so a doggie companion would need to be a specific match - most likely a large dog who is calm, confident, and keeps to themselves. 𝗞𝗶𝗱𝘀: 12+ yrs, he likes to roughhouse 𝗗𝗼𝗴𝘀: highly selective𝗖𝗮𝘁𝘀: not a good fitHe can be seen at the main ranch facility. For further inquiry please email dogswmr@gmail.com

Story
Meet Tate! He is a beautiful Black Lab Mix who just wants all the love! He is extremely friendly and loves people and kids. He loves walks and having a toy to play with on his down time. He is dog selective so a meet and greet is required with your current dog(s). He does tend to display signs of separation anxiety, so someone who is home more often is needed. He does do well in a crate for shorter periods of time such as running the occasional errand. Come and see if Tate would fit your family! You can meet Tate at our main ranch location Wednesday-Sunday from 11am-3pm or email dogswmr@gmail.com

Story
Meet Vanilla, a very new addition to the Watermelon Family! He is very sweet and loves to greet you with whole body wiggles. He can be shy at first, but is very playful and happy. He is crate trained and does get along with other dogs, but does need a slow introduction. He hasn't been around kids under the age of 10, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't love kids. He has not shown any signs of trying to dig or jump when outside, and is not barrier reactive to people or other dogs. He is still learning not to pull on a leash, but that is an easy fix with some training and consistent walks. You can meet Vanilla at our main ranch location or email dogswmr@gmail.com for more information.

Story
Meet Tatum! This gorgeous girl is incredibly sweet and loving. While she can be a little shy on first introductions she warms up quickly and loves being near her people. Tatum is newer to us so we are still getting to know her, so far we have learned that she is dog selective, preferring dogs who give her her space as she gets to know them. She is still learning how to walk on a leash but has already made a lot of progress. We believe Tatum would do best in a home that will go at her pace and help her gain some confidence. Tatum can be see at the main ranch location. For more information, please email dogswmr@gmail.com

Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Max! He is a beautiful Golden Retriever mix who loves cuddles and walks. We have noticed that he can be a bit of an escape artist, and we believe this stems from separation anxiety and his need to find people if he is left alone. This very well could be shelter behavior as he would not get the same level of attention here as he would in a home. He follows directions well and understands commands such as "sit", "lay down", "calm", "up" and "down". He jogs and walks well because he prefers to stay by your side. If he gets too excited the word "calm" helps him relax. He is extremely smart and has so much left to learn and is very eager to do so. He can be nervous around other dogs, but has shown interest, so a meet and greet is required if you have any other dogs. You can meet Max at our main ranch location or email dogswmr@gmail.com

Delilah

Labrador Retriever

Female, 5 yrs 3 mos
Albuquerque, NM
Size
(when grown) -
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Delilah is a 3- or 4-year-old Lab cross. She was found as a pregnant stray in Sandoval County, had her puppies the morning after she came into the shelter and raised 11 pups in foster care. The puppies are weaned now, and they and Delilah are moving toward their forever homes. Delilah likes taking naps, hanging out in the backyard, wrestling with her foster brother and chomping on chews. She gets along well with other dogs, as long as they're not near her food. She is food aggressive toward dogs -- but not humans -- so she'll need to be fed in a separate room from any other dogs. Delilah's docile and obedient with humans and often stays calm when the other dogs in her foster home are barking. She's good at taking her bathroom business outside, although she can't go for a whole work day without a potty break. She may chew things that don't belong to her if she's left alone or if she needs to go outside but no one is home to open the door. She's afraid of leashes, and so will need more work to get comfortable walking on one. She's very reserved when first meeting a new person, but will show affection once she warms up to someone. She was accepting of kids the one time she met some while in foster care. Unknown on cats. Please note that Delilah is an accomplished escape artist who will need to go out on a leash or have a secure yard with a metal or cinder block/rock fence at least four feet high, as she can jump 3-1/2 feet easily, open unlocked gates and chew through wooden fences. ##1609636##
