Story
Meet Blue – A Sweet Boy Ready for His Forever Family! Blue is a 2-year-old pup with an enormous heart! He came to us as a 7-month-old puppy who was very under-socialized and understandably fearful due to his past experiences. Despite what he has been through, Blue is incredibly affectionate, and with the right family, he will become the loyal and loving companion you’ve been searching for. Blue has been diagnosed with canine paroxysmal dyskinesia, but this condition does not hold him back. His movement disorder is effectively managed with a low-stress environment and medication. Having spent the last two months in a foster home, Blue has made significant progress with housebreaking and crate training. He’s a playful goofball who enjoys galloping around the yard, but he’s also a sweetheart who loves to snuggle up and watch TV with you. Blue can be nervous around new people, so he needs an experienced owner who is patient and has the time and resources to help him continue to develop. He enjoys playing with other dogs and is currently being fostered alongside his sister, Nala, who is also available for adoption. What Blue Needs: • A fenced in yard • A patient family ready to help him overcome his fears and become the confident dog we know he can be • Consistent training and positive reinforcement to support his growth • A calm, understanding environment where he feels safe and loved. ( A home with kids 16 and older ) If you’re prepared to provide Blue with the loving, patient home he deserves, please submit an application at AlmostHomeLI.org. He is truly worth it!

Story
Meet Betsy – A Resilient Senior Ready for Her Forever Home 🐾 Despite a rough start, Betsy radiates warmth and grace. Originally found as a stray in Louisiana, she was adopted later in life—only to be returned within the year, through no fault of her own. But Betsy’s spirit remains unbroken, and her heart is full of love to give. Now approximately 8 years old, Betsy is being fostered in Louisiana by one of our dedicated longtime fosters, in partnership with Keri Toth. She’s fully vetted: spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, protected against heartworm and fleas/ticks, and has successfully completed heartworm treatment. Betsy is healthy, happy, and ready to start her next chapter. 🏡 Why Betsy is a Gem: - Housebroken and well-mannered - Gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes - Gentle, sweet, and affectionate with everyone she meets Betsy is a truly special dog who deserves a second chance at a loving home. We’re hoping to place her with a wonderful family on Long Island or nearby - she is currently being fostered in Louisiana. 📝 Online applications: NYSRR.com

Story
Drake is a stunning one-year-old male yellow lab whose beautiful spirit shines as bright as his luscious coat. This special boy has been thriving in his foster home in Louisiana for the past six months, where he's been living his best life alongside a pack of canine companions. When Drake first came to our rescue, our veterinarian discovered that he has a significant heart murmur. After six months of love and care with his foster family, the heart murmur remains unchanged. While there is no cure, Drake doesn't let this slow him down - he's living proof that joy exists in every moment. Drake is a special-needs dog who needs an adopter with a truly open heart. His future health is unknown, and we cannot predict what lies ahead. What we can promise is that every day with Drake will be a gift. He's looking for a family who understands that loving him means cherishing each moment together, however many there may be. Drake is up-to-date on all vaccines, current on heartworm and flea prevention, and has been neutered. He remains under veterinary care for his heart condition. Drake needs a family who will embrace him exactly as he is - a joyful, social boy who loves other dogs and has so much love to give. His ideal adopters will focus on quality of life, making memories, and providing comfort and happiness for as long as they're blessed to have him. Drake is currently in Louisiana and ready to travel to his new family immediately. If you have room in your heart and home for this extraordinary boy, please apply at nysrr.com. *Cherish the moment. Love without limits. That's what Drake does every single day.*

I'm a quiet, calm guy. I don't cause any ruckus. I know all my basic commands. I love to "give paw". If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY.  aka GrumblesAllow me to introduce you to Louis, a dashing 2-year-old Labrador mix weighing in at approximately 70 pounds. Louis is the embodiment of charm and warmth, making him an ideal addition to any loving home. One of Louis' standout qualities is his friendly disposition towards people. He's a social butterfly who's sure to win over the hearts of everyone he meets. Not only is he great with humans, but he also has a knack for getting along well with other dogs, making him a wonderful companion for furry friends. Louis is a well-behaved boy who has mastered the art of crate training and is known for snoozing peacefully through the night, ensuring a restful home environment. During his time in foster care, he flourished in a bustling household with a big family, including 5 children, 4 cats, and 5 dogs. Louis embraced the commotion and thrived in the midst of it all, showcasing his adaptability and affectionate nature. This lovable boy has a playful side too. He enjoys his toys and is always ready for a game of fetch or a fun outing. Louis is a great companion for outdoor adventures, excelling on walks and responding to simple commands with enthusiasm. It's important to note that Louis had a challenging past, enduring over four months of suffering from an untreated parasite. As a result, he developed a ravenous appetite and a tendency to guard his food and possessions. Although he's been treated for this condition, his food-related behaviors persist. Therefore, it's crucial for Louis to be in a home where food is carefully managed, not left out or accessible. He thrives when fed in his crate and when food-related activities are supervised. Louis is a remarkable dog who would excel in a structured and consistent environment. His past challenges have made him vigilant about food, but with the right care and understanding, he's ready for his "happily ever after" with a family who will provide the love and guidance he deserves. If you're looking for an amazing canine companion, Louis is ready to be your loyal and devoted friend.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 14, 2025, 3:00 pm
