Story
Meet Saylor a 1.5 year old retriever mix with a soft heart, wiggly body, and the sweetest “I’m trying my best” energy. She’ll trot up for gentle hellos, offer dreamy eye contact, then do a little shy scoot like, “Wait, actually, hi again!” Saylor is friendly, housebroken, and knows how to sit like a polite lady. She’s still learning that hands and the world are safe, so she prefers things slow, kind, and predictable (teen humans are her vibe). Toys aren’t her thing yet, but calm walks, patience, and reassurance are. With time and love, this tender noodle is going to blossom into the most loyal best friend. If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220Wantagh Long Island, New York#Adoptme #adoptionistheoption #takemehome #adoption #rescue #rescueismyfavoritebreed #opttoadopt

Barnie URGENT Foster/Home Needed – Long Island, NY area Meet Barnie. This handsome 2yr old male black lab mix weighs about 45lbs and he’s looking for a place to call home! He has a very sweet disposition and is house trained. He is affectionate with humans and loves to meet new people. Barnie is good with other dogs but isn’t a big fan of felines. He is great with adults but hasn’t had any exposure to kids, so 13yrs and older are recommended. Barnie loves being outside and running around. An active home with a fully fenced backyard where he can run around would be wonderful. He is in good health, neutered and UTD on all vaccines. Story
Please stop for a moment. Please read this. Doc’s life depends on it. I’ve said this so many times lately, and it hurts every time: If you tell me you want a dog with one brown eye and one blue eye, I can call our shelters and find one. 💔 This time, I didn’t have to call. We have one. Meet Doc. This is Doc. A 2-year-old, 40-lb white Lab mix, with one brown eye and one blue eye, who should be safe, loved, and sleeping on someone’s couch… not waiting in a city shelter for his life to be decided. Doc was found tied to a pole on a busy highway with his best friend Marty (the brown dog in the below video).. Cars speeding by. No escape. Just fear. Pioneers for Animal Welfare Society stepped in and saved Marty from the euthanasia list — and PAWS has found Marty a foster home, he got his miracle, so Marty is safe but Doc is not- he is still at the city shelter. Doc is still waiting. Doc was left behind. He is shy at first — and honestly, who wouldn’t be after what he’s been through? But offer him patience, kindness, a few treats, and you’ll see it: the walls come down. His tail starts to wag. His playful spirit shows up. He does zoomies. He loves the snow. He wants to trust. He wants to live. Right now, Doc sits in a city shelter with no idea how close he is to losing everything. He doesn’t know about euthanasia lists. He doesn’t know what “time is up” means. All he knows is that people keep walking past him… and he’s still alone. Being in a shelter may be better than being tied to a pole, terrified for his life on a busy highway… but it is not the life he deserves. We are begging — we need a foster NOW to pull Doc. Just one person. One couch. One safe place. One heart willing to say yes. He survived being abandoned on a highway. Please don’t let him be forgotten in a shelter. If you’ve ever said, “I wish I could save them all” — this is your moment. If you’ve ever wondered if you could make a difference — you can, right now. Please help us save Doc. Please share. Please foster. Please step up. One person stepping up can save his life. He deserves a real home, real love, and a future that doesn’t end like this. 🐾❤️ 🎥 Videos: https://youtu.be/4-ATZ24xXag https://youtu.be/Ku0miN0AxwA Doc is counting on us. 🐾 DOC • 2-year-old male • ~40 lbs • Beautiful white Lab mix

Story
URGENT- MEET CHANCE! Long Island, NY. Foster/Foster to adopt home needed ASAP. He is a 2 y/o 90lb Labrador/Ridgeback mix. He is an affectionate dog that loves to be right by his owner's side. His family's dynamic changed and they are no longer able to care for him. He was adopted at 3 mos via a large local rescue that is known for not taking back their animals. Family tried to rehome him on their own, to no avail. Chance normally has good energy, but can also lay around for half the day. He loves short bursts of play in the yard to tire him out. He seeks to be pet often. He knows many commands and is fully house broken & crate trained. He is neutered, microchipped and UTD on all vaccines and preventatives. Ideal family will have prior large dog experience and no children under 13 due to his size & inexperience. He has not yet been cat tested and would need proper dog introductions. Please someone step up to save his life. If interested, please email adoptions@paws-li.org or call 631-306-4616.

Story
Foxy is a senior girl 10+ who is in search of a foster to forever home to live out the rest of her years. As per her current foster mom, She loves to hang in the garden, lay in the sun, and nap at your feet. She’s not clingy and does not require cuddling, as she is quite the independent woman. She has no issues with separation anxiety and would be okay with a human who worked outside the home. Cats unknown at this time, but she can be cat tested if need be. She would do best in a peaceful home-maybe with another senior like her, or a mature adult singleton/couple. No children under 15 due to her size/lack of exposure and some visual impairment. If you’re looking for a companion to watch TV with, listen to the radio with , work in the yard or read with, she’s your girl! If you’d like to enjoy her golden years together please contact PAWS at the info below. Pioneers for Animal Welfare Society Inc. 631-306-4616 adoptions@paws-li.org
