Story
Dilly's story is absolutely heartbreaking. Dilly had lived her whole life with her owner up until June 21, 2024. It was a Friday night when we got a call from the police department, who sent an officer out to do a welfare check on a person. Unfortunately when we arrived on scene, we were notified that Dilly had been inside of her home with her deceased owner for an unknown time. Obviously Dilly was very traumatized, scared, and shutdown when she arrived at the shelter. Every time we tried to reach out to Dilly to pet or love on her she would yelp as if we hurt her, even though we didn't actually touch her. Dilly spent months in our care before she finally let us pet her. Now Dilly has improved a lot but needs a foster or an adopter. We were recently told by a family member that Dilly is good with kids and other dogs, but not cats. Dilly is slow to warm up at first but is a total love bug once she trusts you. Meet Camden (aka Blue) Born August 14, 2025, Camden is a Labrador Retriever mix with a friendly, outgoing personality. Known as “Blue” by his handlers in the STAR Inmate Training Program, he is a large, gentle dog with a soft, glossy coat. Camden is affectionate and playful, and he enjoys spending time with people. He plays well with other dogs, including his brother Rowdy, and is also confident exploring on his own. He may be slightly timid in new environments but adjusts quickly and becomes comfortable with new people. Camden is house trained, crate trained, and a graduate of the STAR Inmate Training Program, where he learned basic obedience skills. He gets along well with other dogs and would do best in an active home that can meet his medium to high energy needs. Camden has not harmed cats but shows strong interest in them and may chase, so a cat-free home or one with experienced management is recommended.
