Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: Average Joe was born into rescue in 3/2016. He returned to rescue in 2018 . Reason for being in rescue: Average Joe was born into rescue. He returned to rescue in 2018 due to medical and behavioral issues. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC Special Needs? Joe is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. In February 2022, Joe was treated by UGA's orthopedic practice for a rupture of his right cranial cruciate ligament with the tibial plateau leveling osteotomy procedure. Full medical records will be provided. Joe is a different dog post-surgery. It is amazing the physical and behavioral difference when a dog is not living in chronic pain! Joe is taking cbd oil daily to help with separation anxiety - he simply wants to be with his people all the time! Weight:  64 lbs Height:  20 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No, but he would enjoy one. He could go with or without a fence and be just happy! What kind of home would be best for me?  Joe is looking for a home that has a family home more than they are away or a home that can take him everywhere they go. Joe does have some separation anxiety but does well in a crate when it’s time for his humans to leave. He can be loud in the crate when another dog passes, he’s simply overwhelmed easy. Due to this Joe would not be appropriate for an apartment. Joe is good with dogs of all sizes, as any person, Joe does on occasion have a dog or two he doesn’t like and that’s just fine. Joe met our cat with no issues. Joe would do fine in a home with older mannered kids. Joe is ideal for retirees looking for a dog to take on strolls and enjoy the loyalty of a lab mix for all of his days. What is my personality like? Average Joe is not very average. He loves his person with his entire heart, his person makes the world go around. Joe is clingy and sticks with his person, he does understand boundaries when they are needed! Joe knows how to walk on a leash, he knows sit and he knows down. That is the extent of his training but it’s plenty enough for such a well mannered dog. Joe will sit by his person off leash and be just content. Joe really hates to he left alone, it stresses him to no end. His person will always have to go outside with him and be present with him. Joe does well with daily cbd oil to help calm his anxiety. There aren’t enough words to describe how proud Joe has made his caregivers in the last year. Dogs living in chronic pain are similar to humans - they don't engage much, they can be selective about who they want to be with and when, and they are not as active as one that feels well. With medical care to address his chronic pain, Joe has improved with his dog skills, done phenomenal with crate training, and just overall became a more confident dog. Joe is phenomenal and he is definitely worth meeting in person! How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly and happy!! Other tips and tidbits: Average Joe's birthday is 04/05/2016 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.   Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Do you think he was looking for a job maybe?  As he was microchipped, his original owner, now living in Arizona, was contacted.  She rescued him as a puppy and had him vetted and found a home but sadly has lost track with the owner.  So Maxwell is now looking for a new home. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs?  None noted except a real desire to be loved and cared for Weight: 65 lbs est Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Maxwell loves to explore! He is looking for an  active family that wants to include him in their adventures. He has done well with dogs, large  and small, here at the rescue. He could be an only dog but would do well with another dog to pal around with. An experienced dog owner that’s home more than away would be best for this  active explorer.  What is my personality like? Maxwell is a typical gregarious, happy, laid back labrador retriever.  Maxwell has been very calm with people and dogs. He gets along well with everything.  He is eager to get out of the kennel and explore - we suspect this is how he ended up getting away from his home. Maxwell gets very excited about vehicles. He’s ready to load up and go!  Maxwell is a energetic happy boy that is looking for a running partner. He loves to run and boy is he good at it. He would enjoy it if his human companion shared his interest in running or hiking. He sleeps in a crate here at the rescue and does well with keeping it clean. It’s recommended he have one in the home as he does enjoy having a place to retreat to for a mid day nap. He has several buddies he loves to romp around with and would enjoy dog parks or going to doggy day care once he adjust to his new family and environment. Maxwell could also have another large dog in the home to play with but it is not a requirement. He is a little shy when you first meet him but warms up quickly with some treats! This boy is highly food motivated and would do great with positive reinforcement training. He enjoys puzzle toys and lick mats as well. Maxwell is such a sweetheart once you get to know him. How do I act when I first meet new people?  Maxwell has been calm and welcoming to every person that he’s met. He can be timid at first, but warms up very quickly with treats. Other tips and tidbits: Maxwell is estimated at 4 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 09/29/2018. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Judge is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 51 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes, Judge requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? From stray to staff favorite, Judge is a young boy looking for his happily ever after. We have absolutely no history on Judge, only that he was found underweight and starving for food and affection. He's come so far since arriving in rescue. Judge is looking for a home where he'll be your only pet. He's too much energy for cats and too dominant for many other dogs. He isn't a dog park sort of guy, but would love the camping, hiking, active lifestyle that comes with being outside. Judge is learning what it means to be a pet. He needs continued positive reinforcement training in his forever home. What is my personality like? Judge is an estimated 1 year old Labrador Retriever/Shepherd mix who was found as a stray and safely brought to CPR in late May of 2023.  Judge is very active, and loves running and playing with his favorite toys. He is looking for a home than can provide him lots of outlets for his energy as he is always on the go. He would do best as an only dog as he is pretty dominant with other canines and likes to be the man in charge. He enjoys being a sole companion and would do anything for his people. Judge prefers to eat his meals by himself - he does not want you to take it away and he does not want to share. We cannot blame him. He had clearly been fending for himself for a while when we found him and had to search for every bite of food that he had. Judge is currently in the process of being crate trained and learning different things, and he has made tremendous progress so far. Additional basic training would help him continue to gain confidence and mannerisms. Judge is very intelligent and very eager to please his people. He is a true lovebug once he feels safe and secure with his people and is loyal to a fault. Judge needs a home where he can go on lots of adventures, explore the great outdoors, and find ways to exert all of his energy. How do I act when I first meet new people? Judge can be a bit shy at times when meeting unfamiliar people in a new environment, but he quickly warms up with time and patience. Once Judge is comfortable, he becomes a very spunky and affectionate boy. Other tips and tidbits: Judge was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 4 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 05/23/2019.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Venetia has been spayed, vaccinated and tested for heartworms. She is negative.  Venetia needs another dog in her home - large or small although she would prefer her own size.  But whatever, she needs a canine buddy to hang out with.  Weight: 46 lb Height: 23 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes, Venetia requires a physically fenced yard.  What kind of home would be best for me? Venetia was found as a stray, tied to our gate overnight. We are thankful her leash held securely and that this beautiful girl didn't get into the busy road in front of our rescue. We will never know the circumstances leading to Venetia's "surrender" to rescue. We do know that she is a wonderful dog.  We are teaching her there is kindness for dogs in the world.  Venetia loves all dogs. She is most comfortable with another dog by her side. We have seen her come out of her shell quickly with another dog around versus alone. If she had words they would say 'it's a lot of pressure to be social on my own, it's easier with a friend'. Venetia gravitates to the most confident dog in her area and we are asking her home have one as well. Venetia thinks cats are terrifying and runs away from them.  What is my personality like? Venetia is a lab lover's dream. She is gentle, loyal and has a forgiving and loving heart. True to breed, Venetia is great with people once she gets to know you. She loves hard and loves fast when she feels safe.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Shy but curious about people.  Other tips and tidbits: Venetia was abandoned at our rescue.  We have absolutely no history on her. Based on her overall health and condition, she is estimated at 2 years old. We celebrate her birthday 11/15/2021. House trained? Special Needs? Georgia is up to date on vaccines for her age. Georgia is a young puppy that is crate trained. Georgia's mom Daisey is a standard poodle. Dad is a man of mystery. She is a doodle mix. She is not hypoallergenic and will shed. Weight: 30 lbs and growing - We expect Georgia will be 55-65 pounds when full grown Height: 14 in and growing - We expect Georgia will be 22-24 in at the shoulder when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes,  Georgia requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller What kind of home would be best for me? Georgia requires a home with another active dog for socialization and play. A person scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and can provide multiple potty breaks throughout the day and night is a must. She is a baby and needs play breaks as well as frequent and consistent potty times to aid in potty training. Georgia has never lived with cats. Doodle puppies are always in need of a canine friend, they love to run and play with one another. Doodle puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically, so a fenced in yard will be required. Doodle puppies are very well rounded dogs, they do not meet strangers and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to a doodle puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well, it is important to note that poodles can have a high prey drive. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it’s important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can! This pup has not had contact with cats that we know of and will not have contact while with their current foster. What is my personality like? Georgia - the leader of the pack.  As the pups are growing and personalities are emerging, it's obvious that Georgia is the "one to watch" in the success department.  There is one good word to describe Georgia - confident Georgia learns everything quickly.  Show her once and she's ready to do it.  She is learning to sit and to walk on a leash.  She is clean in her crate and sleeps well from 10:30 pm to 7:30 am.  She is curious and inquisitive about all.  She likes other dogs both large and small as long as she is not in the pack.  When she is with her siblings, she is the one they follow and sometimes she leads them where they should not go!  It's tough being a leader in your first supervisory role.  Running the fence line after the horses is not the skill set I wanted her to learn or teach (sigh).   Georgia was the first one out of the whelping box!   While with very few exceptions, puppies have to go to homes with mentor dogs, Georgia is the exception.  Georgia could be an only dog if you had plans for weekly socialization a minimum of 2 x per week with other dogs.  Keeping her as an only dog and away from other dogs would be detrimental to her mental and emotional growth. She needs to be around her own kind.  While she is more people focused, both her brain and her body need the workout only another dog can give her.  Georgia is looking for a home that will take her inate intelligence and mold it.  She will be easy to train because she is so intelligent.  If you don't teach her, that can turn into a negative very quickly. She needs to learn, to be taught, to be shaped and molded.   Georgia and her family all love one treat unconditionally - they all love milk bones Georgia's mom Daisey is wonderfully gentle and sweet and is also very much a leader.  Georgia takes after her mom for sure.  Daisey has already been adopted.   PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are: -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Georgia was born into rescue on 12/20/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Special Needs? Athens is up to date on vaccines for her age. Athens is a young puppy that is crate trained. Athens's mom Daisey is a standard poodle. Dad is a man of mystery. She is a doodle mix. She is not hypoallergenic and will shed. Weight: 30 lbs and growing - We expect Athens will be 55-65 pounds when full grown Height: 14 in and growing - We expect Athens will be 22-24 in at the shoulder when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes, Athens requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller What kind of home would be best for me? Athens requires a home with another active dog for socialization and play. A person scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and can provide multiple potty breaks throughout the day and night is a must. She is a baby and needs play breaks as well as frequent and consistent potty times to aid in potty training. Athens has never lived with cats. Athens MUST have a canine buddy in her home, preferrably younger, playful and close to her size when full grown. Athens is a sweetly independent girl who needs another dog in her home for sure.  She likes attention but does not beg for it.  She accepts it if you give it to her but she does not demand.  She likes being outside. She would love to be your garden buddy.  She needs another dog because she loves playing with other dogs.  She comes right in when called and just as happily goes outside.  We do have her crate closest to the door - she has the shortest hold span on her bladder than all the other pups but she is getting better every day.     Athens's mom Daisey is wonderfully gentle and sweet. We believe her puppies will be the same. Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Athens was born into rescue on 12/20/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Thank you for considering CPR. April 17, 2024, 7:00 pm
