Story
Nugget She was exactly that when she first came into the rescue. Just an itty bitty little nugget of fur. She came in as a 3-4week old puppy at maybe 5 pounds. She had a hearty appetite for puppy formula and for wet food. And then the weight start to come on and she started to grow into the beauty that she is today. Once she was allowed to play with the "BIG" puppies, she never looked back. She plays very well with all sizes and ages of dogs and puppies. And now as one of the "BIG" pups, she LOVES playing with the little puppies! One of her besties is an 8pound little terrier named Henry! As soon as Nugget was ready for adoption, we found that she had a cyst in her haunch. And it quickly grew. The cyst was lanced and it was removed. And antibiotics were given orally and injected into the cyst. Then as soon as that cyst was taken care of, the other haunch developed a cyst. Well, this time her vet decided to give her more time for it heal with just antibiotics. And sure enough, all is now well. Both cysts are gone and she is NOW ready for adoption!!! Nugget is kennel trained. She quickly runs into a kennel at bed time which is 10pm. She sleeps quietly all night long until 8am. At 8am, she is super happy to come out and run towards the backyard door, exit, and run to her spot in the grass. During the day, she enjoys cuddle times on the couch with her people. She enjoys wrestling and playing with the dogs. And if you are looking for a WATER DOG then Nugget is your girl!!! She LOVES the water. She loves walking in the rain and also jumping in and out of the kiddie pools. Nugget is also potty trained. She does not have any accidents in her kennel during the night nor during her naps throughout the day. She walks straight from the kennel to the backyard door to go potty outside. And if she needs to go when she is in her kennel, she will alert you that she has to go! SUCH A SMART GIRL!!!! Nugget is ready to be a beautiful, loving, and loyal companion in her family. She is happy to be near you but not smother you. She is not needy but definitely enjoys being near her family. Nugget is smart and secure in being by herself because she trusts that at some point she will be cuddled and petted. Nugget has been spayed. She has her rabies, bordatella, and all four parvo shots. She has been on heartworm preventative since the age of 6 weeks. She is also on fleas and ticks preventative. She has been tested, treated (if needed), and retested for giardia and coccidia. She has been dewormed multiple times for a healthy gut and immune system. She is also chipped. Nugget is at the perfect age to join her family. She is ready to be a lifelong and most loyal member in her family. All animals receive a health certificate (stating that a licensed veterinarian saw the pet and deemed it healthy for travel, but is not a promise of perfect health). Please email for an A.M.O.R. application in order to be considered. Please note: this pet is located out of state.

Story
Inigo is a 2 year old Chocolate English Lab. He is full of energy and wants to be your constant companion. He loves to run outdoors, play with toys, and loves food. We adopted him from a family that was no longer able to care for him and they did not have the right running space for his needs. He has been living in our home with three other dogs and with children. We do not know how he reacts with cats. We believe he would do best in a single dog household. His drive to play and his size (about 80lbs) can be intimidating for other animals who are not interested. He would also be best suited with someone who can handle his energy, his size, his needs to your companion, and has the time to spend with him. He is kennel trained but does not care to stay in for too long or to be in a kennel when he knows you are home. I would recommend a kennel for periods of time away from the home to keep him out of trouble. If you need to leash walk him, he will need a harness and a person with control.

Story
Emmy's story: Emmy is a big, gorgeous girl who has a lot of love to give. She didn't have the best start in life, but we are hoping to find her a home that can give her what every dog wants: a safe, comfortable home where she can be loved.  Emmy is a high-energy dog with a strong working drive. She is an intelligent problem solver who loves to learn new tricks and be challenged. She is not an independent thinker, she is very human-oriented and begs for commands. This characteristic is what would make her an excellent working dog. A dedicated owner with a planned training regimen could shape her into an even more incredible dog than she already is. Whether it's on the field, trail, or any other setting, Emmy is sure to impress with her hardworking and determined nature. On top of that, she is very affectionate towards humans, even strangers. As long as you have a tennis ball she doesn't care who you are. As we have begun to work with her more and more, Emmy has allowed us to see a softer more relaxed side of her. Often times after she is done playing fetch and getting out her energy, Emmy will come over for scratches or hop up on the furniture to lie down with you.  Ideal Home: Emmy would thrive in an active home with a family/owner that has experience with high-energy working dogs. The ideal owner would have the time to give her the mental and physical stimulation she requires. This includes doing some kind of dog activity or sport. Additionally, she would do well in a home with older children who can handle her level of energy and playfulness. Are you the perfect forever home for Emmy? Approximate date of birth: Estimated 2 years Gender: Female Spayed/neutered: Yes Weight: ~ 80 lbs.  Vaccines: Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella, Lepto/Lyme Heartworm results: Pending Lyme results: Pending Allergies: None known Special needs: Barks when distressed; needs consistency with owner and training OK with kids: Has lived with an 8 year old child OK with cats: Unknown OK with dogs: Unknown Likes & dislikes: Loves fetch, Peanut Butter Kongs, and Hikes! Adoption fee: $200  To Apply: 1) Print adoption application here:   https://staffordspca.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Stafford_SPCA_Adoption_Application_Adoption-Process-04182018.pdf 2) Email to adopt@staffordspca.org OR Fax to 866-522-8042. Please see our website for details on our adoption process, and feel free to email with any questions about the process or about the pet you're interested in. Home visits required and dog adoptions often do require structural fencing. (We make decisions regarding the fencing requirement on a dog-by-dog basis, according to the dog's exercise needs and energy level.)  Stafford SPCA does not condone the exclusive use of invisible fencing.   We reserve the right to deny placement of puppies and kittens into homes with children under 5 years old.
