Story
Meet Joe - a laid-back, gentle lab mix who gets excited whenever he sees people he knows and loves. Joe is deaf, so he might not hear you calling him, but he definitely feels the love when you wave him over. Joe knows many doggie sign language commands so it's easy to communicate with him. A pro at walks, he's a world-class stroller who enjoys exploring the world. Joe is also always up for a game - whether it's chasing a ball or engaging in interactive toys. After playtime, you'll often find him curling up for cuddles and eagerly awaiting belly rubs from his favorite people. Because he prefers having all the attention to himself, Joe makes the perfect only pet. Other dogs are not his thing, but with people Joe's basically a giant, cuddly marshmallow who's ready to melt into your lap at a moment's notice. If you're looking for a companion with a heart of gold, Joe's your guy! Adopters have 30 days of free access to 1-on-1 text and email support from trainers at Petcademy to help make every pet's transition into their new home as smooth as possible. All dogs available for adoption have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and are current on all vaccinations. Please email dogs@henricohumane.org for more information.

Story
Lucy is a sweet, beautiful girl. She is fully house trained and knows some basic commands. She loves to take walks and get lots of love from her people. She's awesome on the leash, but if she does start to pull, she takes correction well and stops. Lucy gets along with other dogs but she does have a tendency to be bossy so smaller, submissive dogs and/or male dogs would be a better fit for her. Absolutely no kitties though. She's not a fan of felines. Lucy is used to being in a quiet home and is sensitive to energy levels so a laid back, but still active, home would fit her well. We would recommend a home with older children. (13 years and older.) She is mid-sized at around 45lbs and our vet estimates her to be 7-8 years old. If you are interested in adopting Lucy, please fill out an application today!December 2, 2024, 4:26 pm

Story
Meet Mindy: your future best friend, full of personality and just the right amount of chaos! This one-year-old lab mix is a medium-sized dog with a heart big enough to love every other dog she meets. She's a social butterfly with a soft spot for her fellow four-legged friends, so a home with other dogs is an absolute must. Mindy’s confidence is somewhat lacking and it takes her a little time to feel safe and to trust people. She’s still figuring out how to be a confident, self-assured dog in this great big world. Mindy has loads of potential, and with the right amount of love and patience, she’ll blossom into a brave little adventurer. Mindy is a little cautious on the leash, but after she makes it to the dog park, plays with some canine buddies and comes home, she loves cuddling with her foster family on the couch.
