🐾🤍 Meet Champ — The Gentle, Treat-Loving Teddy Bear 🤍🐾 Say hello to Champ, a 3-year-old mixed breed heartthrob (we’re guessing maybe a little Lab, Pyrenees, or even Irish Wolfhound in the mix!) weighing in around 65–70 pounds of pure love. We’re still getting to know this handsome boy, but one thing is already clear: Champ is sweet to his core. From the moment you meet him, you can see his gentle nature shine through. 🌟 What We’ve Learned About Champ So Far: • Affectionate sweetheart: He willingly takes treats from your hand and loves placing his paws in your lap to ask for more attention. • People-focused: Champ truly seeks affection — he wants to be close and loved, and he gives that love right back. • Food-motivated smarty: His love of treats makes him a great candidate for continued training and bonding. • Learning the ropes: Leash walking may be new to him, so a patient adopter who can help him build skills and confidence will help him thrive. • Prefers being the one-and-only: Champ wasn’t a fan of another dog at the shelter, so he’ll do best as the only dog in the home where he can soak up ALL the love. Champ’s gentle energy and eagerness to connect make him truly special. With a kind heart and a hopeful spirit, he’s ready to find the person or family who will show him what it means to be cherished.

Story
Meet Ivy! This gorgeous girl is around 1-2 years old. We are unsure what she is mixed with, but we are guessing she has some husky in her due to her antics. She is such a sweet girl and SUPER energetic. She would love a family that goes to the lake, river or has a pool, she is a MAJOR water dog. She is looking for a super active family that can take her on long walks and plenty of adventures. She has done well with dogs she has met here but meet and greets are required. She would do well with children as long as she does get her energy out just due to the jumping around as she can be a wrecking ball at times. If interested in Ivy, the shelter is open Monday-Friday from 10am-3pm pending on if staff is in the building. You can also call the shelter at 804-520-9397 ext. 5 to set up an appointment!

Story
Wiley, he is a lab/pit mix, 10 years old (Does not act like it) and he will be 11 years old this Jan 12th, 2026. He was adopted from the Richmond SPCA a little over 10 years ago. Wiley is neutered and microchipped. He is crate trained, good with kids, good with cats, and house trained. We were told that he is reactive to some dogs, esp. ones smaller than him, but there are some larger dogs he does not like as well. A meet and greet would need to be done before adoption with another dog, or a home without other dogs would be really good for him. He loves to play with toys (or unstuff them lol), he enjoys playing fetch, but he is terrible about giving the ball back, he wants you to chase him lol, loves snuggles, and he loves blankets. He does get anxious when he is left alone so it would be awesome to find him someone who works from home, or a family who works different shifts and isn't away from the home all day.

Story
Reina is a She's a beautiful girl, extremely smart, and very easy to train. I love her so much, and it hurts to have to rehome her, but she doesn't get along with my youngest son very well. She has bitten in the past from agitation and her tolerance with him seems to be growing shorter. I would recommend her to a home with older children or adults only. I have 3 older kids 13 - 8 years old, and she isn't aggravated by them at all and listens to their commands, but she takes issue with my 4 year old who we've taught to be kind to her, but I'm afraid it's not enough. Reina is energetic and needs to be walked regularly or have a big yard to run around in. She LOVES to play fetch. She is protective, and follows commands well, such as, "heel" , "slow", "come", "sit" and "lay down". She's a great family dog. And though we will miss her so much. The best I can do for her now, is to make sure she goes to a great home, because she's a great dog.

Story
Hi, I'm Remmy! I love exploring every nook of my world, sniffing out adventures and making everyone laugh with my goofy antics. Curling up next to a friend is the best way to spend my day because I have so much love to give. I grew up in a home of humans that work from home so while I'm used to a lot of snuggle time, I am also just as content being left alone. My loyalty runs deep; once I find my person, I'm devoted for life. I'm used to a laid back routine, a fenced yard, and sharing my home space with my sister, who is also looking for a new home. While it would be great if we could be adopted together, I would also fit well in a home by myself or with another friendly dog, though I am not neutered yet. I'm just waiting to share all my love and curiosity with a family who needs a bit of laughter and a lot of loyalty. If you want a forever friend to explore and relax with, I'm your guy!

Story
Hi, I'm Sabrina! I am laid back and love a simple routine, but am also excited to explore the world. Though I cherish quiet moments like basking in the sun, I can easily be convinced to go for a walk, a hike, or even pull my owner on a skateboard! Me and my toy ball are inseparable and I'm always eager for a game of fetch or tug of war with it. My independent spirit means I'm content on my own but always loyal to those I love. I've also mastered the art of being super attentive to human's moods and am always ready to offer love, cuddles, and gentle kisses during anxious or hard times. Because I was attacked as a puppy, other big dogs make me upset, however I get along with some smaller dogs and my brother (who is also looking for a new home). Ideally, we could be adopted together, but I'm also perfectly content being an only pet. If you're looking for a sweet soul to share in both peaceful and playful times, I'm your girl!
