Story
I got Jax through a friend who could not keep him as a puppy in 2018. He was no more than 5 months old and had a bobbed tail. He is now 6 and half years old. I believe he is a lab/shepard/chow mix. He is intelligent dog, sometimes to smart for his own good. He is very loving and overly protective. He would do well with some room to run and or a job to do. Do not know what that job would be but he does not get tired or winded very easy. Always alert and has actually protected us from an intruder to our home once. He is fixed and up to date as of January on all of his shots. The decision for rehoming does not come easy but he doesn’t not get along with our much older dog and cause anxiety for the older one. It’s not fair to either dog and we have tried to make things work. So if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask. Again he is a very loving and protective dog and would do great with a big yard! Thank you

🐾 **Meet Luigi: A Unique Companion Seeking Understanding and Love!** 🐾 Hello future forever family! I'd like to introduce you to Luigi, a one-of-a-kind canine companion with a heart as big as his distinctive personality. He's been with LRGR since July 2022 and is still looking for a furever home! Luigi is an extraordinary dog, and while he may not fit the conventional mold, he brings a special charm to the table. His unique qualities make him stand out, and we believe the right family is out there to embrace and appreciate his individuality. Luigi is a sensitive and intelligent soul, he thrives on routine, and finds comfort in a calm and predictable environment. With a lot of patience and understanding, you'll witness the true magic that lies within Luigi. This charming pup has an incredible sense of loyalty and forms deep bonds with those who take the time to understand him. Once you earn his trust, you'll be rewarded with unwavering companionship and endless love. It's important to note that Luigi isn't a fan of the hustle and bustle that often comes with a household containing children. He prefers a tranquil and serene atmosphere, making him an ideal companion for adults or a couple seeking a devoted friend. Despite his initial reservations, Luigi has a heart that's ready to open up to the right family. He enjoys trail walks + hiking, swimming, playing with doggy friends, and the simple joys of a loving home. With the right match, Luigi can blossom into the delightful companion he's destined to be. If you're a very patient and understanding individual or couple seeking a unique and loving canine friend, Luigi might just be the perfect fit for you. Apply for Luigi and discover the joy of having a companion who dances to the beat of his own drum but will undoubtedly capture your heart. Must Knows: • Luigi, black mixed male, 1yo, 55 lbs • Dog Friendly!! If there is another dog in the home, that dog needs to be playful for Lu! • Dog-savvy cat friendly • Adult only home (21+) • Would do best with a fenced-in yard, but if provided multiple outlets for energy and playdates in a fenced-in area, he would be fine. Enclosed dog parks not recommended due to the amount of people they have and the overstimulation with too many dogs. • Active medium energy – loves swimming, hiking, and playing with other dogs. Will run with dogs and go on walks any time! And loves a good blanket to snuggle with! • Adopter must be local to Richmond as there will be a transition period / several Meet & Greets for Luigi ***Luigi's Adoption Fee ($300) is sponsored*** Interested in Luigi? Story
Looking for an easy going, adorable companion to add to your pack? Look no further - Opal is your girl! Opal is a loyal, loving pup who enjoys being part of a family. She loves running and playing with other dogs, is friendly with young children, and even does well with cats, making her a great addition to an already expanding pack. This adaptable girl is happy playing fetch, going for hikes and walks, chewing on her nylabone, playing tug-o-war, and being a snuggly couch potato or laying in one of her favorite spots around the house. She bonds with her humans and tends to “shadow” them as they do chores and navigate everyday life. Opal is house trained, knows all the basic commands (and some fun tricks!), walks well on a gentle leader, and is an excellent car rider. At 5 years of age, Opal is still a bit nervous around people when she first meets them, and she is afraid of men. She’ll appreciate some extra love and comfort when it thunderstorms and you’ll be her hero if you give her several designated cozy spots around the house that are all hers. She is quiet when her humans are away from the house; when they’re home, she will kindly alert them of any people that come to the door. It’s hard not to melt when you look into Opal’s warm, expressive eyes! She will do best in a home where she has access to a yard to run around in, preferably other dogs to play with, and patient humans who can help her adjust as she grows to become your most loyal, affectionate sidekick. MUST KNOWS: -Opal, 5 year old, black, female, 66 lbs -Dog friendly -Cat friendly -Kid friendly -Medium energy level Interested in adopting? Story
We purchased Teddy from a Pet Shop when he was 11 months old. He is now 5 (12/26/18). He is a purebred long-haired labrador retriever. He is such a great protective dog, he will always alert you when he hears or see something outside the home. Teddy is very friendly and loves affection. He is an only dog so he does bark at other dogs but had never been aggressive towards pets or people. He loves to eat people food which we do not allow him to eat but he is mischievous and will try to eat your food if you are not watching him. He loves to cuddle and be loved on. Our issue is our new home does not have a fence and space for him to roam and play and we don’t have the time to give him to do so. We also don’t permit him to come upstairs so he is limited to where he can go. Although we love him and care for him, it is not in his best interest to live like this. He has high energy which he doesn’t get to burn and it’s s not fair to him.
