🐾 Meet Izzy 🐾 Izzy is a beautiful 5-year-old girl looking for a fresh start and a family to call her own. She came to the shelter through no fault of her own, and while change has been hard on her, she’s ready to find someone willing to give her the patience and understanding she deserves. Izzy forms strong bonds with her people and has a naturally protective nature, which means she takes a little time to warm up to new faces. But once she trusts you, she is incredibly sweet, loyal, and loving. Just look at that face — it’s impossible not to fall for her. 💕 She previously lived with a cat and did well, but she can be selective with other dogs, so meet-and-greets are required if there are dogs already in the home. Izzy would likely thrive in a calm environment with an experienced owner who understands the importance of structure, boundaries, and letting her settle in at her own pace. 🐶 Loyal and devoted to her people 🐱 Has lived successfully with cats 🏡 Would do best in a calm, stable home 💕 Sweet once she knows and trusts you Izzy has so much love to give to the right person — someone who sees past her initial uncertainty and gives her the chance to feel safe again. In return, you’ll gain a faithful companion who will always want to be by your side. Come meet Izzy and see if she’s the missing piece to your family. 🐾

Story
Willa is a beautiful roughly 4 year old 70 pound Lab Shepherd mix whose world has recently opened up in the best way. Formerly known as Pinky, Willa has spent time in board and train, and with structure, consistency, and space to decompress, her true personality has really come through. Willa is still learning how to play, and watching her discover the joy of it is truly heartwarming. She has endearing, slightly clumsy pounces and curious moments that perfectly capture her adventurous and enthusiastic nature. She is clearly making up for lost time and embracing new experiences with growing confidence. Willa can be goofy, jumpy, and a bit mouthy when she gets excited in a very typical young dog way. She may occasionally jump or grab at things like drawstrings, not out of aggression but from excitement and learning how to manage her feelings. She is actively working on her manners and impulse control and will thrive with continued guidance and consistency. Willa approaches new situations thoughtfully. She prefers to observe first, build confidence at her own pace, and once she feels safe, her playful and affectionate side shines. She loves other dogs and truly needs a confident and friendly canine companion in her adoptive home. Having another dog helps her feel secure and brings out her happiest and most relaxed self. Willa is crate trained, house trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She will do best with an adopter who understands that confidence and manners take time to develop and who is committed to continuing the structure and training she has started. Because she can be nervous in unfamiliar environments, a secure fence or consistent leash walking will be important for her safety. Willa has so much love, joy, and personality to share. The right home will have the privilege of watching her continue to grow, learn, and discover just how wonderful life can be. If you are looking for a goofy and dog loving companion with a big personality and tremendous potential, Willa may be the perfect match. Story
Lillie is an energetic and intelligent young dog who is ready for a fresh start. She loves being included, enjoys learning, and has the potential to grow into a wonderful companion with the right guidance. Lillie is spayed, cat friendly, dog friendly with proper introductions, crate trained, and fully house trained. She previously lived in a home and is familiar with household routines. Lillie would not be recommended for a home with small children due to some resource guarding tendencies, though this has improved significantly with consistent work. It is not 100 percent resolved yet, but she has made great progress and continues to improve with structure and positive reinforcement. She can show some reactivity on leash or behind fences, which is common for young, energetic dogs who are still learning how to regulate their excitement. With patient handling and continued training, she has shown that she can make steady progress. Lillie was previously in a foster-to-adopt home where she was not a match with the resident dog. Since returning, she has shown no dog aggression and enjoys positive, playful interactions with other friendly dogs. She lights up when she has the chance to play and would likely thrive with another active dog or an adopter who enjoys keeping her engaged. Lillie is social, curious, and full of puppy energy. She is eager to learn, eager to bond, and eager to be part of a home that provides structure and consistency. If you are looking for a playful, affectionate young dog who is ready to grow into a loyal companion, Lillie may be the perfect fit. 👅🐾 Warning: Excessive Tongue Alert 🚨 Meet Carlo! 🐾👅 Seriously… we’re going to need to measure this thing. Carlo’s tongue is OUT OF CONTROL—and we love him for it 😍 This handsome 2–3 year old, 60–65 lb lab mix (maybe a little pittie or rottie mixed in for that gorgeous coloring ✨) is equal parts goofy and lovable. With his striking white chest and those hints of brown, he’s a total head-turner—but it’s his personality that really wins you over 💛 Carlo was a bit nervous when he first arrived (understandable!), but with a little patience and affection, he’s settling in beautifully. ✔️ Knows “sit” & “shake” ✔️ Takes treats like a champ 🍪 ✔️ Likely housebroken 👀 ✔️ Starts out excited, then settles into a great walking buddy 🐕 ✔️ Loves being outside, sniffing all the things 🌿 He’s happiest just hanging out with his people, enjoying the world one sniff at a time—and maybe flashing that iconic tongue along the way 😄 📍 Available at Hopewell Animal Services Come meet Carlo… we promise he’ll leave you smiling 🐶💙

Story
Mayah is a 5 year old lab and pit mix female. She loves catching a ball even though sometimes she won’t give it back to you. I have had her since she was 6 weeks old. We had an older shi tzu dog at the time and she loved her brother but he was not to happy about her. Our other dog passed away and it was just Mayah. She is very protective. She has not been around a lot of other dogs because she doesn’t behave well at times like vet appointments etc when other dogs are present. Mayah is a good dog. She loves her toys and good bone.I am moving out of state and for better health management I am unable to continue to care for her upon the move. I really want her to go to a good furever home that will spend time with her, wash her face each morning, she loves it, has space for her to run and play.

Story
🚨 Meet Zeus! 🚨 (Be sure to check out his hilarious video in the comments — his slow-motion attempt at retrieving a ball had us cracking up 🤣) AKA: Professional Smiler, Part-Time Tennis Ball Hoarder, Full-Time Good Boy ❤️ At 4 years old, Zeus is a giant love bug wrapped in one ridiculously handsome Chesapeake Bay Retriever package. Pictures truly do not do this boy justice — he is absolutely stunning in person. Zeus wakes up every day like it’s the BEST day of his life. He’s always smiling, always excited to see people, and happiest when he’s close to his humans. One of his favorite things to do is stand up on his hind legs to give you a big “hug” so you’ll pet his face. 😭❤️ (Yes, he could use a little work on the jumping… but when you realize he’s basically an oversized teddy bear begging for affection, it’s impossible not to laugh.) Today we took this “water dog” down to the river expecting Olympic-level retrieving skills. Zeus had other plans. 😂 He confidently marched chest-deep into the water and decided that was plenty far enough. If the stick floated any farther? Congratulations to the fish — that stick now belongs to the river because Zeus was absolutely not going after it. 🤣 Now tennis balls in a backyard? THAT is Zeus’s specialty. He could play fetch all day long. The only tiny issue is… he brings the ball back but refuses to actually give it back. 🤦‍♀️😂 So future adopters should definitely keep a few tennis balls handy for trade negotiations. Zeus previously lived in a home with five other dogs, but any current dogs in the home would still need a proper meet-and-greet. He has not been cat tested. Since he has lived in a home before, he is most likely house trained. And yes — he is BIG. Very big. But beneath that large frame is truly the sweetest, gentlest heart. Zeus deserves a family that will laugh at his goofy antics, throw endless tennis balls, accept the occasional surprise “hug,” and love him as much as he already loves everyone he meets. ❤️ Let’s find this amazing boy the forever home he so deeply deserves.
