Zula is a 2.5-year-old, 50lb mix with a curly tail and beautiful, different colored eyes (one blue, one brown!). We got her from Saving Paws about 1.5 years ago and have all her original paperwork ready. She is wonderfully loving, loyal, and fine living with cats! However, she is dog-reactive and must be the only dog in her new home.We love her dearly and my 5-year-old daughter adores her, but with twins on the way, we cannot safely manage her on winter walks without a fence. A fenced yard is a huge plus, but not required if her new owner can walk her safely. She needs an someone who can manage her on a leash around other dogs. Zula is an incredible companion inside the home and will give her whole heart to a family who can give her a secure, peaceful environment.We will include harness, retractable leash, muzzles, doggy dishes, and any food we have left.

Meet Bolt Three years ago Bolt was found as a homeless starving puppy in Amman, Jordan. (Many dogs in this country are treated poorly and treated like vermin, so Bolt was lucky that a kind-hearted man rescued him.) The gentleman (whose name is Ahmad) was shocked to discover that someone had injured Bolt so badly that he could only open his mouth about 1/8 of an inch. Bolt couldn’t chew, bark, pant or defend himself. And the only way he could eat was to push tiny bits of soft food (between his front teeth) using his “wrist”. So Ahmad sent Bolt to a doctor who claimed he could fix Bolt’s broken jaw. But sadly, the surgery was not done properly, so it was unsuccessful. Ahmad wanted to do everything he could to see that Bolt had a chance at a happy, normal life. So he saved his money for two years until he finally was able to pay for Bolt’s very expensive flight( from Jordan) to our small special needs rescue (One Starfish Rehoming Connections) in Wisconsin. The 24 hr. flight was very traumatic for Bolt, so it took a few weeks for him to recover. But after he settled in, we scheduled Bolt’s surgery (to be done by Dr. John Silbernagel, a well-renowned Board Certified orthopedic veterinary surgeon in Madison, Wi.) Fortunately, this surgery was a success!!!! Although Bolt's face is still a little bit "askew" (we think it makes him look all the more charming) he no longer has any special needs. And he is now able to open his mouth and do all the “doggie” things that dogs do—chewing on bones, panting, barking, etc. Bolt has endured a lot of suffering, but he is still a very sweet, quiet laid-back fellow who LOVES to “shake hands” with everyone he meets! Bolt is ready for a new beginning—with an adopter who will love him and care for him for the rest of his life. He would prefer not to be a latchkey dog (so an adopter who works from home, is retired, or just works part time would be ideal). We hope to find an adopter who is just the right fit for Bolt. (We are, admittedly going to be fussy.) Meet Gwenny! As a tiny puppy, Gwen was left with her sisters in a small box--their paws tied with tape, under a broken truck next to a garbage dumpster. They were lucky that their cries were heard and they were saved by a compassionate dog lover. Gwenny is now all grown up (she is two years old and she weighs 60 lbs.), she has been spayed, she is in perfect health, and she has all the vaccines. Gwen may initially be timid, but as she gains confidence and get to know you better, her amazing character emerges. She's great with people and animals, barking rarely and never biting. She is playful and will respond whenever you want to play with her, but she is not pushy or needy. Whether with a single person or a family with kids, Gwenny will thrive and will give you a lots of love. She would need a safely fenced yard (please, no invisible fencing). Her ideal adopter would be retired or would work just part time (or work from home) because Gwenny doesn't want to be left home alone for more than 4-5 hours during the day. Because Gwen had a rough start in life, her adopter will need to be patient and gentle with her.. But with a little time, she will blossom into a loyal, loving family member.
