Story
Meet Bolt Three years ago Bolt was found as a homeless starving puppy in Amman, Jordan. (Many dogs in this country are treated poorly and treated like vermin, so Bolt was lucky that a kind-hearted man rescued him.) The gentleman (whose name is Ahmad) was shocked to discover that someone had injured Bolt so badly that he could only open his mouth about 1/8 of an inch. Bolt couldn’t chew, bark, pant or defend himself. And the only way he could eat was to push tiny bits of soft food (between his front teeth) using his “wrist”. So Ahmad sent Bolt to a doctor who claimed he could fix Bolt’s broken jaw. But sadly, the surgery was not done properly, so it was unsuccessful. Ahmad wanted to do everything he could to see that Bolt had a chance at a happy, normal life. So he saved his money for two years until he finally was able to pay for Bolt’s very expensive flight( from Jordan) to our small special needs rescue (One Starfish Rehoming Connections) in Wisconsin. The 24 hr. flight was very traumatic for Bolt, so it took a few weeks for him to recover. But after he settled in, we scheduled Bolt’s surgery (to be done by Dr. John Silbernagel, a well-renowned Board Certified orthopedic veterinary surgeon in Madison, Wi.) Fortunately, this surgery was a success!!!! Although Bolt's face is still a little bit "askew" (we think it makes him look all the more charming) he no longer has any special needs. And he is now able to open his mouth and do all the “doggie” things that dogs do—chewing on bones, panting, barking, etc. Bolt has endured a lot of suffering, but he is still a very sweet, quiet laid-back fellow who LOVES to “shake hands” with everyone he meets! Bolt is ready for a new beginning—with an adopter who will love him and care for him for the rest of his life. He would prefer not to be a latchkey dog (so an adopter who works from home, is retired, or just works part time would be ideal). We hope to find an adopter who is just the right fit for Bolt. (We are, admittedly going to be fussy.) But, if you think you are the perfect match for our “almost-perfect” dog, please e-mail us at: sylvialovesme@gmail.com and tell us about yourself, your family, your daily schedule, if you have other pets, etc. Then, if it sounds like Bolt would be a good fit for you, we will send you an application and we’ll then try to arrange a meet-and-greet.

She will need a foster or adopter commitment to secure her spot on transport. Meet Delilah Delilah is an approximately 5-month-old puppy weighing about 30 lbs and is one of three female siblings who were dumped on an elderly couple and kept outdoors until a recent winter storm. The couple was going to take them to the vet to be euthanized, but our rescue partners stepped in just in time to bring the girls to safety. Delilah is very smart and doing great in foster care. She already knows sit, walks well on leash for a puppy, and is doing well with potty training using puppy pads and learning to go outside. She is sweet, gentle, and eager to please. Delilah would do well in a home ready to continue her training and give her the love and stability every puppy deserves. Age: Approximately 5 months Gender: Female Weight: Approximately 30 lbs Breed: Lab/Shepherd Mix (best guess) Spay/Neuter: not yet Crate Trained: working on it Potty Trained: In progress Leash Manners: Good for a puppy Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested Good with Kids: Yes If you can foster or adopt Delilah and help her make the Saturday, 2/14/26 transport, please apply today: www.muttlife.org __________ Adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter procedure, up-to-date dewormer, vaccinations, heartworm prevention (age appropriate), and certified veterinarian inspection within 30 days of adoption. __________ Review adoption requirements and ensure you meet the necessary criteria to apply! https://www.muttlife.org/adoption-policies _________ ADOPTION PROCESS: 1.) You get a 5-day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit. 4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue. 5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process, we conduct a home visit either in person or via Zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have. 6.) For the latest updates on the mutts, follow us on Facebook: @muttlifewi Visit our website: Muttlife.org __________ Love Has Arrived in Wisconsin and Is Settling In Love came to Mutt Life Dog Rescue from a high-risk shelter in Arkansas, where she spent nearly her entire puppyhood after arriving at just five weeks old. As part of the Packer Litter of five, Love waited months for her chance to leave the shelter behind. She has now safely arrived in Wisconsin and is settling in beautifully at her foster home. Meet Love Love is a tricolor pup with a heart as big as her name. Her breed is a Lab mix (best guess), as two of her siblings look very Lab-like, but they all have different unique coloring. She is approximately seven months old and weighs around 35–40 pounds. Despite her rough beginning, Love is sweet, friendly, and incredibly affectionate. She is dog friendly and kid friendly. While she has not been cat tested, she is still young and would likely do well with cats with proper introductions. Love is now spayed and is pretty much potty trained. She is doing really well in her foster home and continues to gain confidence every day. Love is a total love bug and would make a wonderful family dog. She has a medium energy level and enjoys playing, but she also knows how to relax. One of her favorite things is cuddling up on the couch with her people after a fun day. Love will benefit from continued work on leash manners and crate training, but she is eager to learn and thrives with patience, consistency, and love. From Foster: Love is doing great. She is cautious with new things but grows more confident every day. She’s a sweetheart who loves to snuggle or simply sit by your side. Very loyal and attentive, she comes when called and even offers a paw sometimes. She listens well to basic commands, does wonderfully with potty training, and does great in her kennel. She also has the cutest habit of gathering all her toys into one little pile.
