THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET CHICKLET and BEAR….a pair of Lhasa mix boys who came from the West LA shelter (with those names). Chicklet is a tan/white, (also liver with light gorgeous eyes), 16 lbs, 5 yr old, Lhasa Mix; Bear is a tan, 22 lb, 7 yr old Lhasa Mix. Their story is one we so often hear — owner became incapacitated and went into a nursing home, leaving them behind. The shelter gave them to another rescue, where a volunteer accidently dropped Bear on his head…no damage was done, but they didn’t take him back and the shelter called us. Chicklet and Bear are something! They are lovable, active, playful boys who act like puppies! Chicklet has long legs unlike a Lhasa but they both have long bodies and Lhasa tails! Chicklet can be a bit reactive to other dogs on the leash, but we are working with him on this. They are relatively quiet — except when they encounter other rowdy dogs! Chicklet will whine when he wants attention, but he is very loving when he takes a minute to settle down. He is attention starved, and very accepting of a belly rub or scratching above his tail! His coat is very soft and cuddly. Bear is a little more laid back than his bro (not siblings) but he still has a lot of zoomy in him! The more confident of the two, he especially loves to play with toys, is very kissy and affectionate. He is a little bigger and could use losing a few pounds, so we are working on this! Nevertheless, he keeps up with Chicklet on a leash and acts like he doesn’t have a care in the world. Well, he really doesn’t! They both love their walks! They would be great hiking candidates and that would help Bear slim down quickly!! Ideally, the boys need an active home with a yard so that they can run around and play…kids (over 10 yrs) would be wonderful and welcomed. They are so active, they could knock younger kids down! If you don’t have a yard, then take them to the park often and that would make them very happy! No idea why anyone would give up these boys as they are fun and happy. Even seem potty trained (but no guarantees). They are the sweetest, happy-go-lucky pups and would love just playing and sleeping the day away! That is what dogs do!! THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET BUGSY (formerly Oreo)…a gorgeous, black/black and white, 13.5 lb, 4 yr old Lhasa Tzu, whose family decided they could no longer keep this lovebug so they unceremoniously dumped him in the shelter. While he just arrived, we cannot figure out why they did this…except maybe they didn’t have any time for this sweetheart! His mats broke three of our groomer’s blades, he was in such bad shape!! Now, we are accustomed to taking dogs who are a mess, but usually they come with other issues as well…but NOT Mr. Bugsy! Aside from the fact that he doesn’t like being left with nobody around (fine with another dog or people), we haven’t found a single issue. He does like to make his presence known and will bark for your attention, but not annoyingly so. And if you are looking for a dog to shower you with kisses, or chase after a toy and then not know what to do with it, or walk well on a leash by pulling you along…easily remedied with this smart boy…he’s here for you. All you have to do is provide love, support, attention…and another dog to keep Bugsy company when you are gone. He seems to have the potty training thing down, but no guarantees at your house. He will use a pp pad if necessary. Bugsy just arrived so we’ll be updating as we learn more, but this is a wonderful dog who just needs a home where he will get the training and attention he needs to be the best pup and loyal companion he can be. We think this gorgeous guy is an 18 lb, 4.5 yr old, beautiful grizzle colored Lhasa Spaniel who doesn’t shed! He has a Lhasa face but Spaniel, long legs! He was found in a bus parking lot by a bus driver who said, “he didn’t move his position except across the room from where he was laying the day I found him, so I took him home!” After exhausting all efforts to find his family, she called us and the rest is history! Gable has a very calm demeanor and he is such a kind dog. It is amazing that we have never heard him bark! That being said, he does “talk” sometimes, which sounds like whining but it’s cuter! Really sounds like he has something to say, but not in an annoying way! I happen to love sloths and he reminds me of a sloth haha…he likes to stroll on his walks…he’s kind of a cool, gentle soul. That being said, he can keep up with the best of them! Loves to play with his foster bud, so we are thinking (and his finder agrees) he would prefer being in a home with another dog and/or wants his person around a lot! We don’t think he would be a good fit for a senior household because he is a bit on the bigger side and he likes to jump up on you to give you love!! Gable is extremely loving, gives sweet kisses to let you know you’re his person. He gets extremely excited when you come home and jumps up with his foster buddy to give lots of love and affection — to get it, too! He is getting better and better each day on his walks…sometimes, he will just stop and pp or poo in place! In the morning when he relieves himself he goes forever! He should go on a minimum of three walks a day. We love this guy and he will be hard to part with…but Gable wants to love his way into your heart and believe me, it won’t take long. You have never met a kinder, more loving, sweeter 22 lb, 7-8 yr old, tan/white, Lhasa Apso ever! This chunky teddy bear of a dog is absolutely wonderful…smart and cuddly. He is sight challenged — not 100% blind but may only see shadows. He doesn’t really bump into things and is very smart. He is good following another entity (person/dog) and gets the lay of the land quickly. Give him a belly rub and he’ll follow you anywhere! He learned to go up the stairs quickly…and down the stairs in 24 hours. He also knew the path to reach the stairs — after skiing down them a couple of times! We love this boy. S’mores LOVES toys! He will squeak them until the cows come home! He gets really excited when it’s time to go for a walk, happily wagging his tail. When he arrived from the Downey shelter, he was a bit of a mess and had a skin rash and was a bit itchy, but that is all calming down. The only time we have heard him bark is when a big dog got in his face and he felt threatened — but generally gets alone with everyone. He would even be good with kids over 8 yrs old. The best home for S’mores would be one where he is doted on a gets a ton of attention. Experience with a blind dog or at least the patience to work with him is best. A yard and few if not any stairs would be optimal to help him with potty training and avoiding any potential stair accidents. That being said, he is smart and wants to please, so if you can handle it…he probably can too! Training for him to get the lay of the land is the best way to set S’mores up for success. This handsome, sable colored, 15 lb, 5-6 yr old Lhasa Shih Tzu was dumped near a VCA Hospital with a perianal hernia. He must have good karma because a good Samaritan was going into the hospital to pick up her dog’s ashes and she saw him wandering on the street. Picked him up, had him scanned for a chip (there was none) and set out to find his owners. When all that failed, she called us and the rest is history! Julian is a lucky boy but we are the fortunate ones! He is a sweetheart. His first surgery was done and he was such a trooper. Not fun to have your behind surgically repaired! But sadly, he wasn’t healing 100% and so we took him back in only to find out he was re-herniated and had to have a second surgery on 4/21/2022, and then a third on 9/9/2022. He has had some complications — not life threatening — but he needed to heal completely before going home. Julian had (what we hope to be) his final surgery on 3/14/2023. TA DAH! SUCCESS!! The vet is cautiously optimistic and it appears to have been successful. This wonderful little booger is worth every penny and soon enough, all those surgeries will be a thing of the past. Seems to be potty trained with outside access, but we never guarantee. He really is a special boy. He will be coming to adoptions now. Julian is VERY active and loves love. He has a great temperament and takes his meds like a champ! He loves his foster buddies and really wants to play! At first, the toys had to do and Julian is a toy maniac — took every single toy out of the box and played with all of them! Now, he’s playing with the pack and loving every minute! He told us he really wants a canine companion who can hang with him and play, so we want to make sure he has one! He doesn’t love being left alone and will bark, so whomever adopts him should work from home. Julian can be a bit of an acrobat as he loves to jump on the furniture and you! Loves his walks, good with everyone he meets, he would be good with kids over 12 yrs (only so he doesn’t knock them over) and he doesn’t have a mean bone in him. His potty training skills are getting better but he needs to heal. Do you have enough love in your heart to be patient with him and love him to life? No out of state adoptions. Hi fellow dog lovers. My grandmother has this lovely dog max but unfortunately she is sick and can no longer care for him and I have 2 of my own dogs and am not allowed a third where I live. He is easy going used to being in an apartment and walks well on a leash. He would do well with a family, someone who works, or anyone who can provide love and a couple walks a day.
