Story
Meet Imara— a thoughtful, observant girl with a playful side and a personality all her own
Imara is about a year old and has a nice balance of playful energy and a more thoughtful, observant nature. She likes to keep an eye on things and will often watch from nearby before deciding to join in. She also takes her naps seriously and will happily choose beauty sleep over following her people around. She enjoys being around her people, but isn’t a cuddle-on-command dog and prefers to come find you for affection when she’s ready, which makes those moments feel even more special.
In the mornings, it’s game on as she makes her rounds, visiting each bedroom and hopping up on the bed to make sure everyone is up and accounted for. By evening, she’s happy to wind down with movie-time snuggles, though she may pop up to check on anyone who’s headed off to bed.
She’s crate trained and sleeps through the night, and she’s learned a solid bedtime routine with lights off, sound machine on, and her kennel covered. She knows exactly what that means. During the day she may need a little encouragement to go into her kennel, but she settles well once she’s there. She is continuing to work on house training and is making good progress with a consistent routine.
She’s a smart, food-motivated girl who enjoys learning and is already picking up on routines. For example, when coming in from a walk, she knows to go sit on her mat to get her treat and have her leash removed. She’s also polite around food. She won’t beg, but will patiently wait nearby just in case something happens to fall her way.
Like many young dogs, she’s still learning how to manage her excitement. She tends to match the energy around her, which is great for playtime, but can also mean she gets a bit enthusiastic if things get busy. She may jump or get mouthy when excited, and she’s still working on staying calm on walks when she sees other dogs.
Imara is a bright, engaging dog who is already showing how quickly she can learn with the right guidance. She will thrive in a home that can provide structure, consistency, and ongoing training as she continues to mature. Because she can get caught up in the moment, she would likely do best with older kids or an adult household
Imara is estimated to be 1 year old and 16 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested.
