You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Do you want to meet me? I will be at Unleashed Hounds and Hops (200 East Lyndale Ave N, Minneapolis, MN 55405), for an adoption event Thursday, April 18th from 6:00-8:00 pm. I will be there! Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.   Don’t confuse me with Ms Martha Stewart. Although we do share in common the love of being the boss (which is different from being bossy!) I am a happy little girl who loves life, toys and watching TV.  While you may prefer a good crime show, I like the Dog Whisperer, or something that has dogs on it so I can run up to the TV and get a closeup view.  I even like being in the fenced yard where I will run all around and even approach people walking by or something in the woods.  I won’t bark at them, but I do want them to notice me and my cute little self.  So I wag (ya know, the dog version of waving – hee hee). Squeaky toys are the best invention! I will chase it and retrieve it but can’t promise I’ll give it to you.  We can work on sharing skills – ha ha! I do like the other dogs in my foster home but I don’t require other ones. But I do need a fenced yard in my forever home.    I am potty trained and can also use a potty pad inside.  I’ve even had some walks on a leash, although I won’t say I’m an expert.  And you really can’t say I’m a barker.  But I have been known to let out a random bark for no reason other than to remind you I here. Oh and before I forget, please oh please rub my belly.  It’s the best thing since – well, since EVER!  I like it so much I might try to convince you to do it 24/7.  So if you’re on the hunt for a lap dog who is just adorable in every aspect, then I’m your gal! Furever yours? Martha *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in th eir forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
**Texas adoption only*** This is Joey, a senior dog with the heart and soul of a resilient soldier. For starters, Joey is a beautiful senior Lhasa Apso mix with a unique personality. He's a polite but guarded gentleman who looks like he's wearing a fancy gray suit! Joey is a very sensitive dog who'll need very sensitive, present, and patient people to take him on. For Joey's adoption process he will need several appointments and meetings to see if it is a good match. Joey enjoys long walks, perhaps one of his favorite activities, and will take you on a nicely paced walk through your neighborhood everyday if you get him on the leash! Joey is well trained knowing both how to behave and be comfortable in a crate and relieve himself outside. Joey also enjoys a good tug of war and was a mean puller during his old army days with the other boys in green. He's a child at heart and loves to play with toys! This fellow would prefer to be the only dog in the house but can be tolerant of other dogs. If other dogs are present Joey might feel a bit insecure and start marking. Please don't move too quickly towards Joey! He likes a very relaxed, low-energy environment and is not afraid to let you know when there's too much going on. Joey would prefer no children or at least older children that can respect him and not stick their hands in his face. In addition, Joey prefers people not be too grabby with him. He enjoys his personal space. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Benji's approximate date of birth is March 23, 2020. He has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has been 4DX tested. His adoption fee is $450.00 + tax. Benji Man is a little dude with a huge personality. He loves to snuggle in laps, he is super excited to go for walks and he is a man who knows what he wants! *As Benji settles in to rescue we are beginning to learn a little more about him. He is a super sweet little guy and loves to snuggle and give cute kisses. He loves to go for walks and will do a high vertical jump/bounce expressing how excited he is. He is very excitable on his walks when he sees squirrels, people, or other dogs. He can pull hard and will bark loud at them. He is kenneled overnight and does ok when the house is quiet. He has had a few accidents in his foster home, so a patient understanding new owner who is ok with working with this will be needed. He has cute zoomies and loves to run around with toys. He has been ok with some dogs and not ok with others and he barks at the cats that he sees, but has not had direct contact with any. We have been told from his previous owner that he is not good with children. It may be fun for Benji to just tell you a little more about who he is! Hi de ho everyone! My name is Benji; Ben Ben; Bouncy Ben; Benji Man. Whatever you wanna call me is fine, I like them all. I think that it's pretty cool to have so many cute names for me. I really like them all and am happy to respond to any. Not to brag, but I am ridiculously adorable! I know; cuz I have been told it so many times so it has to be true. I guess that I am a Lhasa Apso/Dachshund mix.. I have been told that may make me prone to liking to bark at squirrels, but in my defense.. there are so many of them right now! Cats are new to my world, so it may take me a while to have a chance to get used to them. I have liked to bark at the ones in my foster home, but I am getting better though. Maybe a confident cat that stands their ground with dogs may work? Just not sure yet. I have been nervous around dogs that are larger then me and have some sort of of reaction to them that doesn't bring out the best in me. I would have to say that I would not like to go to dog parks to meet strange dogs. They would make me way to uncomfortable and it wouldn't be fair to me to have so many unknown dogs approaching me.. especially if they are my size or larger. I have also not been comfortable around young children. They too, make me nervous. So, enough of the things about me that you might consider not perfect. I am amazing in so many ways that I'm pretty sure that there is someone out there that would think that I am just PERFECT; just the way I am!! I am adorable, cuddly, sweet and love to give cute kisses. I am happy to see you and love being by you. I sleep in a kennel quietly over night but I really think it could be cool if I had a chance to sleep in a bed with my new person and may just snuggle until you chose to start the day. I enjoy to go for walks and I love to explore different things and smells. Remember though, that I am pretty interested in squirrels right now, so keep my leash secured in your hand! I think that my perfect new home would have a securely fenced in yard. If you don't have a fence, understand that I feel that every squirrel needs to be ''inspected', so a secured harness and leash is needed. I don't think I should could to a home with a larger dog unless that dog doesn't scare me. I really just want someone to love me and help me with being the best companion that I can be. I promise to give you all the snuggles and kisses in return! If you think I could be your perfect companion; or if you would be interested in meeting me, please complete an adoption application at: www.savingtails.org Saving Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) is a 501(c)3 registered no-kill, non profit animal rescue. All animals are placed in loving foster homes until their forever family finds them. Because there is not a physical shelter location, foster homes are needed to help rescue local animals who are in danger of euthanasia. If you would be interested interested in fostering an animal in need; please complete an application at www.savingtails.orgApril 11, 2024, 7:22 pm

DOB: 09/17/2022 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Weight: 12 pounds Requires a fenced yard:  Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area.  Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, I’m Nina, a precious and sweet albeit VERY shy female Chihuahua/Bichon Frise mix puppy. I am cautious around people in general and I don’t like loud noises or a lot of commotion, so I’m not sure if kids are a good fit for me! I admit that I follow mom everywhere but it’s not necessarily because I want her attention…I just want to know what she’s up to…unless she’s giving the other pups attention then…of course, I must be part of the action! Hee, hee!! I love playing with toys and eating treats and have even started taking treats from foster mom’s hand…YAY for me!! I am still working on potty training, I don’t have any experience with the leash, and I don’t like the kennel/crate. In fact, I will holler a LOT when I first go into the crate and randomly throughout the night so just for the record, you have been warned! Hee, hee!! Anyway, I have not met any cats or larger dogs, but I do well with smaller dogs like me and will need a companion and a fenced yard at my new home so we can safely explore and play! I am a super smart girl who already knows what “sit”, “stay”, “down”, “leave it”, & “go potty” all mean…all I need now is a fur-ever home with YOU! I simply ask that you love me unconditionally, NEVER give up on me, and that you will patiently allow me the time and space I need to become comfortable in my own way! I have a huge heart that is overflowing with love I want to share, so please be my fur-ever family. I promise we will make amazing memories together!! All my love, Nina I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! *Grooming - this dog's coat may have been neglected before arriving at Underdog and it can sometimes take months to get their coat healthy as poodles and poodle mixes require daily brushing.  Grooming appointments occur every 3 months and cost on average of $150 per appointment. Adopters should be prepared for such expenses. Underdog Rescue cannot guarantee the non-shedding or hypoallergenic qualities of this dog.  **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters.  Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter.  Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized.  If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!       DOB: 12/07/2022 Requires another dog in home: Yes, another well-balanced dog is required Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown, likely afraid of kids Weight: 8 pounds and growing Food Fed: Solid Gold Requires a fenced yard:  Yes, required Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi, my name is Corbin and I am a very shy and timid puppy that is ready to find my forever people with patience, toys and lots of love to help me be the best I can be! I’m very afraid of being touched by humans but I do love them.  I’ve been brave enough to lick my foster mom’s hand but I’ll run away if you try to hold me or pick me up.  With time, lots of patience and love, I’ll get there.  I’m getting a little better every day but when things are scary, they’re really scary! You have to understand that I likely have never been in a loving home so sounds like the TV, clanking dishes, the horrible vacuum and lots of commotion might make me a little worried. I have shown foster mom that I do have some puppy antics in me, hee hee! I like to play with soft toys, run around the yard and wrestle with the other dogs in my foster home. So, it’ll be important that I have a good doggy role model in my forever home to help me learn that touch isn’t scary and keep learning. A social, well-balanced and confident dog is required. This means that my buddy will need to show me humans are safe, how to get on a potty routine and teach me which toys are the best! My fur-brother and the other dogs in my foster home have been amazing teachers! I am still working on my dog skills like potty training. We go outside on a routine, but I will still need of practice in my forever home. Foster mom wants to let you know that I am smart – I already know what “go potty” means! We tried kennel training, and oh boy, I will tell you how much I don’t like it! Bark bark! Foster mom uses gates for the dogs when she isn’t home. I also bark at her when she comes home – maybe I’m telling you I’m glad you’re home, or maybe I’m filling you in on what happened when you were away!  Also, a fenced yard is required as I don’t have a leash or tie-out experience. This is very important for potty training too. My foster mom said I’m fun, adorable, learns quickly and likes to play with other dogs and that I play hard!  Oh and that I have a wonderful appetite! I will let you know with a bark bark that I am excited for dinner! I’m just an overall, very happy dog who loves the feel of the sun on my face when I’m sitting outside, other dogs and treats.  All I need now is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and a family that will help me be the best I can be! Foster mom says that with time I will learn to trust – we are taking baby steps. Will you take those baby steps with me? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!       Hi I'm Enoch!  I'm a sweet happy puppy who loves having a good time!  That means I love playing tag and wrestling with my doggie friends.  I don't need a doggie friend in my forever home, but if you do I'd sure love one! When I get excited I have the cutest barks!  Don't worry because generally I'm a pretty quiet guy.  I'm quickly figuring out that toys are pretty fun.  Soft ones are usually my favorite.  When I'm not playing I'm usually exploring around my home with a friendly wagging tail and the cutest smile.  I can be a bit unsure in new situations, but give me a bit and I warm up and get curious.  I love getting pets and scratches from my foster mom.  I often give her my tummy for those things called belly rubs.  They're awesome!  I haven't had much practice on leash so I'll need a fence yard or a patient family that is committed to helping me learn.  I must say I think I'll be an excellent student!  I've been working hard on potty and kennel training too.  I know I'll master those too with my amazing new teacher you! I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  T his puppy requires an application fee.
