Story
Meet Miss Marla. Marla is a 4 year old teddy bear mix. I believe she is part lhasa apso, and she is smart and sweet and playful. Marla had a rocky start to her life so far but she is resilient! When I first got her, she didn't know what stairs were. In three weeks she has learned to go up and down stairs, sometimes reluctantly, and she will signal that she needs to go outside by going to the door. Marla is very laid back and quiet, she is not a barker. She does have a bit of a stubborn streak, so sometimes you have to work with that to get her to do things. But she is trainable! If you would like more information or would like to meet Marla, please call or text foster mom Rose Roderick, Hales Corners, WI 414-507-2428. Adoption fee of $450 required.

Story
Meet Waffles! Nickname: The Great Pretender. Waffles lied about being a senior to get accepted into Albert's Dog Lounge. His zoomies and joyful toy play gave him away quickly in his foster home. Breed: Lhasa Apso Rescue: Albert’s Dog Lounge Age: 5 years young... or younger. Weight: 14 lbs of pure scruffy joy Hometown: Milwaukee, WI Current digs: Madison, WI Personality Snapshot: I'm a total vibe. Let's just throw that out there now. I am the hot guy at school that all the girls want to ask to the Sadie Hawkins dance. I would be Sunshine, the blonde surfer dude QB in Remember the Titans. If I had a baseball cap, I would wear it backwards, and wear Nike sport slides. I would chill all summer by the pool and flash my beautiful smile. Sun's Out, Fluff's Out, ladies. Every time I got up to walk to the pool, those lady lifeguards would swoon. I would toss the football in the pool with my bros. I am THAT guy. I love all people, big, small, short, tall, male, female, babies, toddlers, kids, and adults. My talent is sniffing at your baby's dirty diaper until you change those poopy pants. I also excel at unpacking the toy box and blaming your children. Speaking of kids..... can I have one or two? Please? I LOVE children, and would thrive in a home where they will be my best friends. I love all the dogs, especially the ones who want to play with me, but if I am your one and only and YOU want to play with me, that is fine too. But wouldn't it be amazing if I had a sibling named Maple Syrup? Or Pancakes? Waffles Stats: Sleep style: currently in a crate, but I feel like you should let me sleep with you in your bed. Maybe? Please? Meals: 1/3 cup Fromm's Gold, twice daily. Nom nom. Snore-o-meter: 1/10 I am a polite sleeper Bark-o-meter: 3/10 I will let you know when someone is coming to the door, and will mildly protest when I am crated but otherwise, I am pretty polite. Shedding: 1/10 Be prepared to brush my flowing golden cream locks. Fashion sense: think swimming pool chic~ Hibiscus print board shorts and a Billabong tank top Signature color: bright pastels~ they pop against my sun-drenched curls Walk-out song: I am big into that other blonde guy who turns heads: Justin Timberlake. I love me some "Can't Stop the Feeling" Favorite season: Summer! It gives my adoring public the chance to ogle my fine, flowing locks. Dream job: Hair model, and unpacking toy boxes at Walmart. My unpacking speed in unparallelled! Special Notes: The rescue says that I remind them of the Dos Equis guy. A lot. I say that's not me (though I MIGHT be the most interesting dog in the world!) but there is no photographic proof of us ever being in the same room at the same time. Draw your own conclusions. I do mark indoors and am wearing a belly band right now, and I have a bad humping habit. However, I am scheduled for a neuter 1.16, because balls are for the football field, not rescue dogs, and there is a good chance that both of those issues will improve. I will likely also stop marking once I am feeling familiar and safe in a home. I have only been in foster for a short time. The Details: Neutered very soon Microchipped Housebroke (marks but that should improve with comfort level and neuter) Enjoys Happy zoomies Rides like a champ in the car Doesn't love it at the beginning but will use his crate Up to date on vaccinations & preventatives Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $350, ($600 for a pair). Story
About Me: Name: Yvette  Breed (or best guess): Bichon  Approximate Age: 10 years  Gender: Female  Approximate Weight: 15 lbs  Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: fenced in yard, another dog in home  Why In Rescue: retired breeder/ puppy mill surrender  Profile:  Yvette has been in a foster home for quite some time and is really ready to have a home of her own. Here is what her foster has to say about her:   Miss Yvette has learned how to be a real dog these past several months. She loves to cuddle in bed with me, munch on carrots for treats, and follow around my own woofs. She is really sweet and is ready to find her forever home. Yvette came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding or was not able to sell her to a broker or pet store.  Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS January 6, 2026, 1:30 pm

About Me: Name: Sasha (Iaolani) Breed (or best guess): Bichon Approximate Age: 10 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 18 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Fenced yard, patient adopter Why In Rescue: Owner Surrender (puppy mill survivor) Profile:  Sasha was adopted into a loving home but she wasn't a fan of the human male of the household, so is now hoping for a female only living situation.  She did well in her home otherwise, learning to use the doggy door to go potty and play outside.  She is good in the car and in her crate at home.  She doesn't walk on a leash however.  She was good with the other dogs in the family and just avoided children if they visited.  We believe she would be happiest in a family with other dogs and only female humans.  She doesn't bark at the males that come into the shelter, but she was stressed and barked at the human in her adoptive home.  If interested in Sasha please fill out the pre-adoption application. Iaolani came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  Iaolani is a happy girl who is progressing nicely past her puppy mill days.  She is a very sweet girl who wants attention.  She will need work on walking on a leash, so a fenced yard or potty area is best.  She will need help with housetraining.  She would be happiest if she is adopted into a home with another small social dog, or adopted with one of her friends.  If interested please fill out the adoption application.
