Story
Meet Miss Marla. Marla is a 4 year old teddy bear mix. I believe she is part lhasa apso, and she is smart and sweet and playful. Marla had a rocky start to her life so far but she is resilient! When I first got her, she didn't know what stairs were. In three weeks she has learned to go up and down stairs, sometimes reluctantly, and she will signal that she needs to go outside by going to the door. Marla is very laid back and quiet, she is not a barker. She does have a bit of a stubborn streak, so sometimes you have to work with that to get her to do things. But she is trainable! If you would like more information or would like to meet Marla, please call or text foster mom Rose Roderick, Hales Corners, WI 414-507-2428. Adoption fee of $450 required.

Story
Name: Buddy Valentine Sex: Male Breed: Lhasa Apso Age: 2 years old (as of April) Color: Cream and Golden Weight: 19.4 lbs Neutered: January 8, 2026 Buddy Valentine is a wonderful foster pup who truly lives up to his name. He is incredibly affectionate and has warm kisses for everyone he meets. He gets along well with female dogs; however, his behavior toward male dogs can be a bit snarky. Behavior toward cats is unknown. According to his paperwork, he was raised with children. I would recommend he either be an only dog or have a female friend. Older children six and above ok. He seems to have a sensitive throat area as he does not tolerate a collar, so a harness is a must. He is very playful and enjoys throwing his bones and soft toys around, though bully sticks are his favorite. Buddy loves running in the yard, but because he may be prone to running away if given the chance, a fully fenced yard is required. Currently, he sleeps in bed with me but is crated when I am away. Adoption fee is required. He is being fostered through Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue. tinypawssmalldogrescue.org Foster mom is Carol Degen in Mt. Pleasant carol58degen@gmail.com If interested please fill out application at tinypawssmalldogrescue.org to get the ball rolling.

Story
Introducing Bluebell! This girl is a dream. One look into her stunning blue eyes, and she just melts your heart. Bell is a 4.5-year-old, female, 18-pound Lhasa. She is a retired breeder from an Amish mill. This girl is digging retirement, and her first bucket list item is to find her forever home! 🤞🐾🙏. Are you her perfect match? Her foster moms gush over her perfect temperament. She loves to cuddle and snuggle, yet enjoys shopping in the doggy box to pick out her play toys for the day. She loves every human and every dog she meets. She is also an eager learner. She loves to follow her humans and fellow dog mates and goes with the flow. Always in for a good time. Her basic training is going great! Take her out, tell her “go potty,” and she rocks this game. She will need her humans to continue to show her basic training, and she will excel. Bell would likely thrive in a home with another dog, as she loves to watch and learn from them, or she would really like a human who may not have to work all day. She is newly retired and just does not want to be alone all day without a fur or human buddy. Can't blame the girl, can you?! An adoption fee is required, as Bluebell is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. If you are interested in Bluebell, please feel free to contact her foster mom, Jill Clark, at 847-772-2098, jilljclark20@gmail.com, or Facebook Messenger. Please feel free to apply for Bluebell through Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue: https://www.cognitoforms.com/TinyPawsSmallDogRescue1/AdoptionApplication

Story
Meet Benji! He is a happy, loving, 4 year old Lhasapoo who is friendly with dogs and people. Benji knows some basic commands and knows to go potty when outside. He was found as a stray and brought to animal control, where he stayed until New Beginnings picked him up this morning. Animal control shaved him down due to severe matting. Benji weighs 13 pounds and has another 2-3 pounds to gain to reach his ideal body weight. Benji would love a forever home with another playful dog, kids that will run around and play with him, or an active owner. Please comment below if you are interested in learning more about this sweet guy. He is being fostered in Janesville, WI. nbstr.org

Story
About Me: Name: Betty Barb Breed (or best guess): Bichon Birthdate:  1/23/23 Gender: F Approximate Weight: 18 lb Adoption Fee: $495 ($740 for Betty and Sasha if adopted together) Requirements: Patient Adopter, fenced potty area, another small dog Why In Rescue: puppy mill survivor Profile:   Betty Barb came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding. She is an adorable girl who needs some love and patience to learn how great life can be.  She will need a fenced yard or potty area and another dog to help her adjust to her new life as a pet. Betty and Sasha have become fast friends and want to be together all the time.  If you have the love, space, and ability to adopt a pair, they have a reduced fee of $740 adopted together. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS March 7, 2026, 6:42 pm

About Me: Name: Sasha (Iaolani) Breed (or best guess): Bichon Approximate Age: 10 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 18 lb Adoption Fee: $495 ($740 for Sasha and Betty if adopted together) Requirements: Fenced yard, patient adopter, another small dog Why In Rescue: Owner Surrender (puppy mill survivor) Profile:  Sasha was adopted into a loving home but she wasn't a fan of the human male of the household, so is now hoping for a female only living situation.  She did well in her home otherwise, learning to use the doggy door to go potty and play outside.  She is good in the car and in her crate at home.  She doesn't walk on a leash however.  She was good with the other dogs in the family and just avoided children if they visited.  We believe she would be happiest in a family with other dogs and only female humans.  She doesn't bark at the males that come into the shelter, but she was stressed and barked at the human in her adoptive home.  If interested in Sasha please fill out the pre-adoption application. If you have the ability to adopt a pair of dogs, Sasha has become best fur friends with Betty, so if adopted together, they have a reduced fee of $740 for the pair. Iaolani came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  Iaolani is a happy girl who is progressing nicely past her puppy mill days.  She is a very sweet girl who wants attention.  She will need work on walking on a leash, so a fenced yard or potty area is best.  She will need help with housetraining.  She would be happiest if she is adopted into a home with another small social dog, or adopted with one of her friends.  If interested please fill out the adoption application.
