A lady on Next Door reached out to our rescue partner and asked if she could help a kitten. She was found in a bush alone in Torrance, Ca. SHELL was feisty and so small. Meet SHELL, a reserved three-year-old Diluted Calico Maine Coon from Torrance, California whose soft, pastel-toned fur reflects her gentle and quiet nature. With her long, fluffy coat that blends soft grays, creams, and whites, SHELL is a picture of elegance and grace. She may be shy at first, often preferring to observe her surroundings from a cozy, tucked-away spot, but with a little patience, she begins to open up in her own delicate way. SHELL has a refined personality and will allow pets—but only on her terms. She enjoys gentle head scratches and soft strokes when she's feeling comfortable, making her a true cat who values her independence. She’s skittish with sudden movements or new situations, but given time, her cautious curiosity will win out, and she’ll be quietly near, soaking up the calm energy of her environment. One of our previous fosters found a mama cat and her 4 kittens eating out of the dumpster at her work site in < Hemet, California. Before trapping them, she reached out if we cold help her. We agreed if she would foster. We had the mama cat (LUCY) scheduled to be fixed. The day before she was due to get fixed, she had a second litter. So apparently she was pregnant before she was trapped. So now her 1st set of kittens are ready for adoption. A good time to come visit is between 5 pm - 8 pm (Monday thru Saturday) and Sunday 3 pm - 6 pm. The VOLUNTEERS are only there in the evening for 3 hours so please call the PetSmart location, email us or visit the cattery for VISITING HOURS. Most days are different 3 hour shifts. It's based on volunteer availability and store hours. Tazz was born (June 2024) to a feral mom in a backyard. At 12 weeks (mid-Nov. 2024) she was trapped, spayed, and I adopted her along with her Siamese sister (Heidi - please see her profile for why I am rehoming) that day after being told she was semi-feral as she had a bit of human interaction. Within 3 weeks, as I was working to socialize them (non-caged), my son, a single dad, had a stroke and I had to leave for a month, losing valuable bonding time with the kittens. More traveling ahead. I am looking for either a foster to tame them or to adopt them. Tazz is a beautiful, playful kitten who is bonded to her sister. I love her eyeliner. She is fun to watch and play with, gets the crazies, but is still a bit afraid of human touch. Athough, Tazz will eat tidbits of meat or treats out of my fingers. She feeds off of Heidi’s fear, but is a bit more tame. I wish I could keep her because I think she will be a really wonderful, loving cat. More info can be provided.
