PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! A lady on Next Door reached out to our rescue partner and asked if she could help a kitten. She was found in a bush alone in Torrance, Ca. SHELL was feisty and so small. Meet SHELL, a reserved three-year-old Diluted Calico Maine Coon from Torrance, California whose soft, pastel-toned fur reflects her gentle and quiet nature. With her long, fluffy coat that blends soft grays, creams, and whites, SHELL is a picture of elegance and grace. She may be shy at first, often preferring to observe her surroundings from a cozy, tucked-away spot, but with a little patience, she begins to open up in her own delicate way. SHELL has a refined personality and will allow pets—but only on her terms. She enjoys gentle head scratches and soft strokes when she's feeling comfortable, making her a true cat who values her independence. She’s skittish with sudden movements or new situations, but given time, her cautious curiosity will win out, and she’ll be quietly near, soaking up the calm energy of her environment. SHELL gets along well with other cats, blending into a multi-cat household without causing any fuss. Her mellow nature makes her unreactive to dogs, so she could live peacefully alongside a calm canine companion as long as they respect her space. While she’s never been around children, SHELL might do well in a quiet home where she can settle in at her own pace without too much hustle and bustle. Her Maine Coon heritage gives her a majestic look with a luxuriously thick coat and a large, regal presence. However, unlike the stereotypical social Maine Coon, SHELL leans into her more reserved, introverted side, making her the perfect match for a patient and understanding caregiver who will give her the time she needs to feel safe and secure. Are you ready to provide a calm, loving home where this beautiful girl can thrive at her own pace? If you’re looking for a quiet, independent companion who will blossom with time, SHELL may just be the perfect addition to your family. SHELL is a DILUTED CALICO / MAINE COON MIX. She is about 4 years and 4 months old and is good with cats. In her foster home, she was around other kittens and older cats. She will probably do best with a very friendly, loving and non aggressive cat or 2. She has never been around children. We are not sure how she will do with dogs, but she is non-reactive. SHELL is currently located at our rescue in Hemet, California. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Go to Workinwhiskers.com (Click on ADOPT) 2. Fill Out Online Form 3. Submit Online Application 4. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! Rescue Mama has had 3 live into their 20's. One was 8 weeks old. ERIN YEAGER and his 2 siblings (ARMIN ARLERT and LEVI ACKERMAN) had a rough life. They were brought into the shelter as tiny kittens. We rescued them and sent them to a foster. But she kept them for a long time and returned them unsocialized. They deserved a chance to be adopted. And this boy has come a long way. Meet ERIN YEAGER, the gentle giant with a heart as big as his fluffy Maine Coon exterior. True to his breed's "gentle giant" nature, ERIN YEAGER is a stunning boy who simply needs a patient, quiet home where she can take her time getting to know you. Though he can be a bit skittish and reserved at first, ERIN YEAGER's sweet, affectionate side shines through with a little time and understanding. His journey to trust is one that is incredibly rewarding. As he settles in, he'll slowly emerge from his shell, blossoming into a loving companion who adores gentle head scratches and soft pets. ERIN YEAGER's favorite quiet time activity is to sit on his person's feet, a subtle way of showing his affection and feeling close to you. He also lives for treats and sees them as the ultimate sign of friendship. If you are someone who enjoys quiet companionship and finds joy in small victories, watching ERIN YEAGER's confidence grow will be a truly magical experience. In a home with other feline friends, ERIN YEAGER truly thrives. He has a wonderful, friendly disposition with other cats and would love a confident cat companion to show him the ropes and help his feel more at ease. This big, beautiful boy is looking for a patient human who will give him the space he needs to feel safe, while cherishing the quiet moments of connection he offers in return. These cats are the best cats I’ve ever had! I have had many cats in my life and these two are the sweetest most loving cats. I am completely devastated to rehome them but due to a whole lot of life changes and a confirmed allergy to them, we need to find them a new home. They are brother and sister and are very bonded so they need to stay together. They are very happy kitties with lots of love to give. Turkey, the boy, is so cuddly and sweet and has long hair. Zara, the girl, is extremely loving, and has short hair. Due to my child’s allergy we need them in a safe and loving new home asap.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Welcome to Act 2 Rescue where you become part of our A2R family! Adoption is an important time in your life and we are grateful to be a part of it. We take pride in offering you a personalized adoption experience with continuing behavioral support as needed. -Mindy Gould, CEO Meet Mango! Mango is a stunning orange-and-white Maine Coon mix with the sweetest personality to match his fluffy good looks. He is young, playful, and full of love to give. This gentle boy had an abscess in his ear that left his left ear with a little fold, but it only adds to his charm—it makes him all the more unique! Mango can be a little shy at first and may take a few days to fully adjust, but once he feels safe, his true personality shines. He adores being petted, loves to snuggle up close, and will happily soak up all the affection you have to give. Mango would do best as the only cat in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention without stress. With a patient, caring family who can give him time to settle in, Mango will reward you with endless purrs, cuddles, and companionship. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate cat who just wants to be your best friend, Mango might be the one for you! I am all ready for my new home!  All I need now is you! I am currently living in a foster home and am fully litter trained. Act 2 Rescue will even help you make sure I am able to integrate into your human and pet family with their behavioral coaching support during the transition period. I can't wait to meet you so please fill out an application for me today! _______________________________________________________________________  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please be aware we are a small foster based rescue in Riverside, California. Our volunteers often have other jobs/careers as well. We are not a government funded shelter and all of our donations including adoption donations are used to run the rescue and help the animals in our care. Since we are no kill, higher fees for in demand breeds help us cover critical care.  We are always in need of volunteers, donations, and fosters. Please excuse any wait times as we are often inundated with emergencies or short staffed due to the overpopulation crisis. You can learn more about us on our website or follow us here.   Steps 1-2  of the ADOPTION PROCESS must be done before we do OFFICIAL MEET & GREETS or take deposits.  To keep animals healthy,  we limit  foster based meet & greets  to people fully qualified to adopt them.   No animals can be held without a $75 deposit. Deposits cannot be refunded if you change your mind, they are to hold a cat and can result in other adopters being told they cannot adopt. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1.  Application:  Log into our website and complete the adoption application at link below: Applications :  Forms (rescuegroups.org) 2. Virtual Home Check: Once your application is approved, check back if you haven't been scheduled for a virtual home check within 48 hours.  A virtual home check to ensure safety of your residence for your kitty (not perfect cleanliness). You will be told during the visit if you pass.  3. Official meet & greet with your kitty at an adoption event, foster care, or adoption center depending on location of the kitty.   We only have a few  volunteers,  so we apologize at times we fall behind due to high demand of some cats.  5. Sign adoption contract and, if appropriate, foster to adopt clause. 6. Pay adoption fee via zelle using act2rescue@gmail.com (not our phone number) or using cash. We can accept cards at adoption events but the terminal charges fees that are pretty high so it's not the best option.  7. Take your kitty home. Be sure to isolate kitty while they adjust to your home. We may check in from time to time to be sure you do not need any additional support because we love hearing how our kitties are doing. As volunteer staff, happy stories are literally our paycheck.  8. Check out our website https://act2rescue.org for resources, blogs and info on how to best take care of your new kitty. Our professional behavior coach is available via text to assist you with transition as well. We also have a Facebook group to interact with our behavior coach and other kitten care experts, as well as our A2R family like you! ****Please note, we do not have dedicated staff for phone lines so please text instead of calling. If the cat/kitten is listed, they are available. However, they could have pending applications or meet and greets scheduled. Filling out an application and approval does not obligate you to adopt the kitty. If they are not a fit...we have plenty of other kitties for adoption. This kitty has received at least two FVCRP vaccines, rabies if over 4 months, Revolution for fleas/ticks/heartworms/stomach parasites/ear mites, de-wormer, sterilization*, and microchip (you must register for it to work but it's free).  All kitties are given a general wellness check by a veterinarian prior to sterilization.  Deposits: The only way we can hold a kitty is with a non-refundable (if you decide not to adopt within 2 weeks not if we void the adoption) deposit of $75. We reserve the right to void the adoption up until the point the contract is signed. If we cancel the adoption (for kitty health or other issues) we will refund your deposit. If you wait longer than 2 weeks, we cannot hold the kitty due to space constraints. Your deposit could be used on another kitty. If you decide not to adopt at all, any deposit will go to the care of animals rescued with us and may be written off as a donation.   Foster to Adopt: Kittens must be 2 lbs or 8 weeks and fixed to be adopted. This will be noted in the approximate available date. If a kitty is unable to be fixed in a timely manner, they may foster to adopt. This would be all adoption paperwork and donations would be exchanged and the kitten would go home. Adoption paperwork will have a clause that it is not final until animal is sterilized.  Once the sterilization appointment arrives you must bring them in to be sterilized or the animal will have to be returned to the rescue. You may also have them sterilized on your own and show proof to the rescue. Once sterilized the adoption will be complete. We normally do not do these in this manner but due to extreme situations they may arise. Final health checks are done during sterilization. Any unknown health issues would also allow you to choose a different cat.   Failure to comply with sterilization will result in returning the animal to us without refund of donations. Breeds:  We cannot guarantee breed but do our best to identify possible breeds based on their appearancxe and personality. If you DNA test your furry friend, let us know the results. It is fun to see what the kitty actually is and how close our guess is. Please know not all DNA companies test for all breeds and the science is still catching up so it may adjust later to have breeds we saw. We like to know so we can improve our analysis too.   We cannot guarantee health but go to great lengths to have healthy kitties. Kitties do not live in a cattery but in private fosters for this reason.  Snap Testing: We do not test for FELV/FIV in healthy animals as it is often incorrect in animals under 6 months and can be a false positive. False negatives also give a false sense of security. These tests are best done if an animal is unhealthy to determine disease.  https://www.uwsheltermedicine.com/library/resources/why-are-some-shelters-no-longer-testing-all-cats-for-felv-and-fiv March 7, 2026, 11:10 pm

Story
Dumbo is a sweet, fluffy gray-and-white Maine Coon mix boy with a heart that’s every bit as big as his paws. With his soft, cloud-like fur and those adorably oversized ears that earned him his name, he has a gentle, endearing presence that instantly makes you smile. He’s the kind of cat who brings a calm, comforting energy into a room—happy to lounge nearby, quietly keeping you company, or soaking up affection when it’s offered.   True to his Maine Coon roots, Dumbo has a laid-back, affectionate nature and a soft curiosity about the world around him. He enjoys being admired, lightly brushed, and talked to, and he has a way of looking at you that feels trusting and sincere. Dumbo would thrive in a loving home where he can be cherished as the sweet, fluffy gentleman he is—bringing warmth, quiet joy, and a whole lot of softness into everyday life.   ##2652118##

Story
Eli and his brother Peyton (who is also available for adoption) were entrusted to our care after their dad passed away. 10 years earlier, he had found the boys as abandoned kittens and lovingly bottle fed them. Eli is the smaller of the pair at 12 pounds. In the months leading up to their owner’s passing, Eli and Peyton remained in their home, cared for through regular visits from family members. They may be a little shy at first, but once they feel safe and comfortable, their sweet personalities shine through. Family members report that they enjoy playing with toys and have good litterbox habits. Eli and Peyton are looking for a loving home where they can settle in, feel secure, and continue sharing their lives together. To meet Eli and Peyton, please email: placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
