Heather is a sweet Maltese that is currently being fostered with one of our dog trainers that specializes in timid, shy dogs. She is a breeder release and is guessed to be around 6-7 years old. She is absolutely adorable and her foster mom says she is making great progress but is still very nervous around new people. She is quiet and wants so badly to come close but is still quite nervous. She is fully kennel trained and loves, loves, loves her kennel, it is her safe place. She loves to be out in the dog run and is potty trained at her foster mom's house. She has just started learning to walk on a leash but will need someone to introduce her to the world slowly to give her time to adjust to her new life. There are lots of other dogs at her foster moms house so we know she is dog friendly, her foster doesn't have any cats but thinks she would be fine with them if introduced properly. She thinks she would do better in a home with a confident dog or in a quiet home with adults or older quiet kids only. She will need an adopter who will give her love and patience. Please consider this adorable girl as a part of your new family. She deserves all the love in the world and will give you a lifetime of love. The shy dogs become the most loyal dogs and LOVE LOVE LOVE their humans. She has so much love to give and is looking for her FurEver Home. My goodness her little white goatee just speaks to my soul. Shirley is an 8 year old Maltese mix. She joined MHCR with, you guessed it, Laverne! They came from a local CO shelter after being surrendered in a large group of dogs. The shelter life was a bit stressful for them, so we scooped em up and over to MHCR they came. Shirley is a sensitive sweetheart. She’s a little timid and takes a bit to warm up. For this reason, we suspect she will do well in a quieter household with other dog friends to keep her company. She’s house trained and crate trained and doesn’t get into things free roam. Shirley is seeking a home with a securely fenced in yard and not a lot of hustle and bustle, but PLENTY of snuggles.
