Story
About Me If you're looking for a sweet, fun, cuddly sidekick I am the guy for you! I am new to The Rescue Crew but my foster Momma already says I am the most perfect little boy ( as if I didn't know that already?!? ) . I am crate tranied, doing well with potty training, I am good with other dogs ( although big dogs that bark loud scare me ) and am not quite sure what a cat is for? I mean, they won't play with me, so what do they do? I was unclaimed stray from a local impound that the rescue works with all of the time. The staff there took great care of my while they were letting me hang out waiting for my family to come take me home. Unfortunately, they never came so I joined the rescue. Did you notice how cool my coat is? My foster Momma says it's gorgeous but I prefer to say that I am handsome. I do like toys, but honestly all I really want is to be with my people! I haven't met kids yet in my foster home, so I can't tell you yet if I like them or not. I am small and can be kinda wiggly, so human kids will need to be respectful and careful with me as I am not a toy.   WHERE IS THIS PET LOCATED? The Rescue Crew is a foster-based rescue, which means all of our pets are cared for in homes throughout Minnesota.  Foster Home Pets: Meet & greets are scheduled after an approved adoption application Cats at The PURRfect Match Adoption Center (Andover, MN): Some cats may be available to meet during open hours Please visit our website for the most accurate information on this pet and next steps. Story
About Me Hi, I’m Anthony — professional cuddler, full-time shadow, part-time neighborhood watch, and your future best friend. I’ll be honest right away: I don’t really believe in “personal space.” If you’re sitting down, I’d like to be touching you. If you’re walking around, I’ll be following you. If you’re heading out on an adventure, I’m already ready to go. I’m learning that being a few feet away from my human is survivable, but I definitely prefer the “together at all times” lifestyle. I’m currently living with multiple small dogs and doing well with them. I seem to especially like female dogs and calmer older male dogs. Even though I enjoy other pups, humans are really my favorite thing in the world. I’m looking for someone I can truly bond with — your loyal sidekick, road trip buddy, tiny-house roommate, and emotional support shadow all rolled into one. My day usually starts with me hurrying outside for my potty break the second I wake up. I’m leash trained and mostly potty trained, though I’m still polishing up my indoor manners. I’ve done some marking inside before, but I’m learning that humans apparently don’t appreciate surprise decorating. Since I’m newly neutered, everyone expects that to keep improving as my hormones settle down. I’m also okay with wearing a belly band or using a potty pad if my new family prefers. When my people leave for work, I may sing a short song about how much I’ll miss them. After that, I usually redirect myself to snacks, toys, naps, or hanging out with the other dogs until everyone comes home. Then it’s straight back outside for another potty break before I resume my very important duties of following the humans around the house. I’d describe my energy level as moderate. I enjoy daily activity and adventures, but I’m equally happy winding down with some quiet evening cuddle time before bed. Chew toys are one of my favorite things, and I’ll never say no to treats — especially baby carrots, apple slices, or dog-friendly peanut butter. I should probably mention my funniest habit: sometimes I pass gas, let out a dramatic little sigh, and then act completely shocked that such a smell could possibly exist. I’m innocent until proven guilty. I also take my guard dog responsibilities seriously. I’ll alert you if I hear a new sound, if someone is approaching, or if you dare come home without immediately greeting me properly. Because I can be vocal when excited, I’m unfortunately not a great fit for apartments or homes with shared walls right now. Before rescue, I came from a local impound where I arrived underweight and badly matted. A fresh shave and regular meals helped me feel like myself again, and now my weight is healthy and stable. At the end of the day, I’m happiest when I’m simply with my person. Whether it’s a house, a camper van, a tiny home, or a couch with enough room for two, I’m ready to be your loyal little wingman through all of life’s adventures. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Do you want to meet me? I will be at SLP Pet Evolution, 5217 Excelsior Blvd, St Louis Park, MN 55416 (Miracle Miles Shopping Center) for an Adoption Event on Saturday, May 16th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Tallahassee is a 9.5-pound Maltese senior with a soft spirit, a shy heart, and the sweetest presence you could ever hope for in a companion. She’s around 9–10 years old and has some medical needs, but she is full of love, calm energy, and quiet companionship. She is incredibly gentle and wonderfully quiet — truly a dream dog for anyone with shared walls or a peaceful home. She never barks for attention, food, or visitors. Instead, she prefers to quietly observe the world around her, taking her time to warm up before offering her trust. Once she feels safe, she loves being in the same room as her person, napping nearby, and soaking up the comfort of simply being close.  Because of this, she would thrive in a home where someone is around much of the time to keep her company. Tallahassee is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being petted and spending time outside. She has a soft curiosity about the world and enjoys taking in her surroundings at her own pace. She’s doing well on walks and continues to grow more confident with each outing. She has been doing very well with her potty routine when kept on a consistent schedule. Tally does best with regular potty breaks every 3–4 hours and will reliably go outside when given the opportunity. During freezing or very rainy weather, she has also used potty pads on an enclosed porch. She keeps her kennel clean and settles in beautifully when crated. Like many dogs who are still learning house habits, she may occasionally mistake rugs or previously marked areas for potty spots if not kept on a routine, but she continues to make great progress. She now sleeps with her foster mom and loves the comfort and security of being close at night. Indoors, she enjoys cozy spots to rest, while outside she’s happy to explore, people watch, or simply enjoy the fresh air. Tallahassee is wonderful with other dogs and has a very calm, respectful presence. She may feel nervous if another dog rushes up too quickly or in unfamiliar situations, and may try to quietly slip away until she feels safe again. She has made nice progress in the car and is gaining confidence with each ride. She has also learned commands like “come,” “down,” and “go potty.” She has several medical needs, including a heart murmur requiring twice-daily medication, as well as a hernia and significant dental disease. Due to her heart condition, she is not a candidate for anesthesia, so she is not able to be spayed and her dental and surgical needs will be managed conservatively. She will need a home committed to her comfort, routine care, and gentle handling. Tallahassee doesn’t have much interest in toys, but she loves soft treats, warm naps, and being near her person. She is the sweetest little companion who will sit with you for hours, offering quiet affection and a peaceful, steady presence. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving senior who wants nothing more than a calm home, a soft bed, and someone to adore—Tallahassee is ready to be your devoted little shadow. Some souls are quiet, but they love the deepest—Tallahassee is one of them Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
Some dogs are able to recover from neglect or abuse faster than others…..if only they could tell us about those early years of their life. Cody is a 3.5 yr old. 13# male Shih Tzu/maltese former breeder dog that is still in the process of his recovery, and is hoping someone with patience and previous dog experience is able to take him and continue working with him. Another small, playful dog and a secure fenced yard are also requirements to help him be successful. Cody would not be suited to a family with children of any age because of his fears of new people, loud noises, and fast movements. He has been in his foster home for quite a while – he trusts his foster mom, and is relaxed and seeks attention from her, but transitioning into a new home could be like starting all over again. Let me tell you more about him. His foster mom is retired, and home with him most of the time. Cody prefers to approach her for cuddle time when she is sitting or laying down, instead of towering over him. He comes to her when she calls him inside the house, but doesn’t have recall when he is out in the yard, so he is either contained in a kennel area when out, or drags a long leash around in his fenced area so you can use that instead of grabbing at him when he’s out. If someone scares or forces him, or raises their voice, it takes quite a while for him to forgive you. He tolerates meeting new people, but is more fearful of men and might try to hide from them. His foster home has a doggie door that he has learned to use, but his new home might not; Cody is willing to go out into the cold for a short time, so you will need to establish a schedule that works for him, and have a potty pad down for emergencies. His meals are dry food soaked in water for 5 minutes – he can be reluctant to eat, and acts like he is watching for new people to approach. Cody is most comfortable around the resident dogs, and loves to run and play with them. The other dog/dogs in the home should be tolerant, playful, be good pack leaders and “show him the ropes”. Cody rides OK in the car, in a crate. In warmer weather, he has been taken on short walks – doesn’t understand the purpose of a walk when there is a perfectly wonderful fenced yard to run around in. Cody has a loud bark, so best suited to single-family home instead of a building that shares a wall with another family. Cody is neutered, and current on vaccinations. The heartworm test and tick profile are all negative. He requires grooming about every 3 months. If you have questions, or would like to adopt Cody, call 651-771-5662. His adoption fee is $300 .

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Want to meet me? Come to the Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) on Sunday, May 17th from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Gary is an 18‑pound gentleman of distinguished age who has fully committed to the art of relaxation. He is, without question, the King of Sleeping. If napping were an Olympic sport, Gary would bring home the gold, the silver, and probably a commemorative snack. When he’s awake, he transforms into a slow‑moving shadow who follows his human around with the dedication of a very mellow bodyguard. He loves short strolls outside where he can sniff the neighborhood news, feel the breeze, and pretend he’s still a spry young lad. Then he returns inside to resume his royal duties: couch snuggling, belly‑rub requesting, and gentle snoring. Gary has a few special senior quirks—he’s partially blind, partially deaf, a little wobbly, and needs eye drops and daily pain meds. Stairs are not his thing, but being carried like the tiny prince he is suits him just fine. He’s working on potty training and does well on a schedule, especially since he sleeps through the night like a champion. He’s friendly with everyone, polite with dogs, and happiest in a calm home where he can nap in peace and enjoy his favorite hobby: eating treats. All treats. Any treats. Every treat. Gary is a gentle, affectionate, easygoing old soul who just wants a soft place to land, a cozy lap to snooze on, and someone who appreciates the simple joys in life—like snacks, sunshine, and long, luxurious naps.
