Story
Meet Angus 💙Angus is a big, lovable, hippo-sized boy weighing in at 99 pounds of pure sweetness. His favorite thing in the world? People. He absolutely adores being loved and will happily soak up every bit of affection you're willing to give.Unlike many dogs, Angus hasn't had the chance to explore much of the world. Because of that, he's very unsocialized and can be nervous when faced with new places, sounds, and experiences. The world feels much bigger to him than it should, and he's hoping to find someone patient who will show him that it's not such a scary place. All he needs is a kind person to guide him, help him build confidence, and reassure him that everything is going to be okay.As you walk past his kennel, Angus will look up at you with the saddest, most soulful eyes, almost as if he's wondering why he's still there. It's impossible not to stop and notice him.Angus didn't end up in the shelter because he did anything wrong. His previous owner loved him dearly but was getting older, and caring for a large dog became more than they could manage. Making the heartbreaking decision to surrender him was an act of love, giving Angus the chance to find a family who can give him the care and adventures he deserves. If you're looking for a loyal best friend, Angus is ready to fill that role. He's the perfect couch potato who would love nothing more than to curl up beside you, keep you company through life's ups and downs, and remind you every day what unconditional love feels like. All he's waiting for is someone to believe in him and show him the wonderful world he's been missing. Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. We are open intake, meaning we can not turn away animals from either county we serve. Our shelter intakes double or triple it's capacity every month so it is essential we place animals quickly into adoptive homes. Since so many animals enter the shelter we often don't have enough volunteers to write an individual bio for each. Please feel free to call the shelter Wednesday-Sunday to inquire about the animal you are interested in. 706-795-2868.Viewing and adoption hours at our shelter are Wednesday through Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM. All adoption fees include age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, and spay or neuter, microchip, and adoption packet. Fees:Dogs over 6 months old: $100Puppies under 6 months: $200.
