You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.    PLEASE NOTE: GPMR communicates primarily by email.  If you have any questions regarding one of our Mastiffs, please read their bio and if you still have questions- drop us an email at info@greatplainsmastiffrescue.org .  If you have questions about our adoption procedures, please go to our Pages of Interest on the left hand column under 'Adoption Info.'  We answer email inquiries almost immediately-usually always within a few hours and phone calls are returned with 24-36 hours.    GPMR does not have a shelter. All of our dogs are kept in loving foster homes. We must have a completed adoption application on file before meeting any of our mastiffs.    GPMR adopts to the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana and parts of Colorado.  !!!Any mastiffs being adopted out of the state of Oklahoma require a health certificate to be paid for by the adopter!!!       Meet Bear! This sweet boy found GPMR when his owners moved and weren't able to bring Bear with them and so he was left outside in a pen. A neighbor was trying to take care of Bear and find him a home. Unfortunately he was in pretty rough shape when he arrived, only weighing about 97 lbs. He had no muscle left either which is an indication of starvation. Thankfully he's bouncing back quickly and is already up to 122 lbs at his last vet check and still has at least another 10 lbs to go.  Bear is somewhere between 3 to 4 years old. He is a very affectionate boy! He is fostered with another male Mastiff and doing great. He’s done really well around other dogs and he has no issues with the cat in his foster home. He is great at alerting when people come to the house! He does bark at new people coming into the home and once he sniffs and knows they are OK, he doesn't bark anymore. So something to consider if you have a lot of visitors. He is learning to walk on a leash but still pulls a lot. He knows his puppy drills and will do anything for a treat! When we got Bear he had some scabs on his body and the vet was not sure if these are from fleas or allergies. We started him on medications and these are all healed up now and he has not had to stay on meds. Thankfully he tested negative for heartworms! Bear didn't have much strength in his back end when he arrived to us, but this has improved a lot. We had X-rays taken to be sure and the Vet said everything looked normal. They think he was just suffering from neglect when we first got him, and doesn't have anything wrong with his hips. As a precaution we started him on joint supplements.Bear is part of our Fall in Love adoption event and his fee is waived!Bear is being fostered in Fort Smith, ARVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!December 1, 2023, 12:20 am

This boy's had a rough life before coming to GPMR. The family that gave him to GPMR had rescued him from a neglect situation where he was living outside 24/7 and not provided with any veterinary care. As a result, he had terrible infections develop on his feet and they are very swollen. We've got him on medications to treat the infection called pododermatitis as well as a topical med that goes on his feet. It's possible that he may require some life-long meds to keep his feet from getting so bad again.  When King came to us we noted that he seems a little tender on one of his hips. X-rays showed he has mild hip dysplasia. It's not anything that will require surgery but he needs to be kept on joint supplements as well as a lean healthy weight! King is a sweetheart, he loves his foster family especially his foster dad. They have a nightly routine of King giving his paw up so it can be medicated. He is such a good boy! He does great with the other dogs but we haven't evaluated him yet with cats. King would do fine with older kids age 10 and up. King is part of our Fall in Love adoption event and his fee is waived!King is being fostered in Shawnee, OK Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!December 1, 2023, 12:20 am

This sweet boy found himself in a shelter and when no one came to reclaim him, he came to GPMR. Riggs is well behaved especially for a pup. He is potty trained and knows how to use the dog door. He is great with other medium to large size dog and does fine with the cats too. His foster mom feels he is too energetic for small dogs and small kids. But older kids age 8 and up would be just fine for Riggs! Riggs loves everybody & everything. He needs a younger family that will take him on adventures & show him a lot of attention. He would do best in a home with a canine companion! He is a 1 year old pup who came to GPMR because his family was no longer able to keep him. They had very young kids and Moose was too much puppy for them. He definitely has the energy level of a young dog! Moose is great with other dogs and we're looking for a home with a medium to large size dog who will want to be a playmate for him. Because this guy loves to play, it's all he wants to do! He gets the zoomies and likes to run around in the yard. He would be OK with older kids but not with kids under 10 as he's a lot of dog. He is not recommended for a home with cats.Moose had his vet check and other than some soreness from growing pains/playing too hard, he's healthy and ready for adoption! Moose is being fostered in Yukon, OK.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!December 1, 2023, 12:20 am
