This sweet girl came in with Lorelai, they were transferred from our friends at the Dallas SPCA. Halle suffered from neglect and had a terrible skin infection from having so many fleas on her body. It was so bad that it would bleed in some areas. Thankfully all of that has cleared up and she's not had any skin issues since. She also had a low thyroid which made her skin issues worse. She started daily meds which are thankfully inexpensive! We also have her on allergy medication called Apoquel during the allergy season. It's really kept her seasonal allergies from causing re-occuring skin infections. The rest of the year she likely would be OK on just Benedryl. Halle has a very comical personality. She is a silly girl who likes to 'talk' and keeps her foster parents laughing. She loves to have bones to chew on. Halle also had a genetic condition called entropion. This is where the dog's eyelid roll inward, providing constant irritiation to the eye. She also has a condition called microphthalmia, where her eyes are smaller than normal size, which made the entropion worse. She's had 3 corrective surgeries and doing great and won't need any more procedures done on her eyes! However Halle is prone to getting eye infections and so she gets drops about 2-3 times a week and that seems to help prevent any issues. She also had some kind of injury to her hind leg at some point, it looks a little 'off' so we had Xrays done. The vet said it was some kind of old injury however it won't require any kind of surgery and it doesn't seem to bother her so we're thankful for that. She runs and plays and jumps with the best of them!Halle has mixed reviews with other dogs. Like many of our Mastiffs who were mommas before coming to us, when they spend their lives making puppies they tend to be dominant and very bossy with other dogs as that's all they've known raising puppies. She's been fostered with some submissive dogs and done well with them but she we don't leave her unsupervised with other dogs. She has no 'off' button when playing and she plays rough and doesn't respond when the other dog has had enough and sometimes her foster parents have to step in and tell her to give it a rest. Honestly the best way to describe is that if she lives with another dog, she will need to be somewhat micromanaged. She is very bonded to the young female Mastiff in her foster home, they always are laying together when inside the house.Halle is definitely a product of her environment - when things are calm she is very relaxed but when things get loud and excited, so does she! And it makes it hard to be well behaved when she gets so over-stimulated. For example when visitors come to the home she tries to paw at them and jump for attention. Things she never does when it's just her and her foster family. She just can't help herself and will definitely be a work in progress for any home with frequent visitors. So a quieter home would probably be best for her. She does like to chase cats so we don't recommend her for a home with kitties. Since we don't have a history of her with children, a home with kids 11 and up would be best.Halle likes to patrol her back yard and bark any dogs or people that are too close to her fence. If you need a dog to alert you to any burglars, this is your girl! She loves being outside and laying in the sun so if you are a family who spends a lot of time outdoors, she would be a good match for you.Halle has the personality of more of a 'teenage' Mastiff and requires a home who will continue working on her basic training and set boundaries for her. She's a dog who was failed by her former owner in that they did zero training with her. So while her demeanor is wonderful, she just had very few manners when she first came in, but she's made a ton of progress and so doing so much better. Her adopters will need to be willing to continue the training we've started. She loves treats so that helps! Halle is being fostered in Shawnee, OK.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!May 17, 2023, 5:44 pm

GPMR took Jesse in when her owner was no longer able to keep her. So far she's adjusting well and learning new things like walking on a leash which she didn't seem to do much of before coming to us. She was used to wandering the acreage she lived on and so a leash was very new to her. She's doing well but is a work in progress! She is reportedly good with all other animals. However we have seen that Jesse will chase cats and small animals outside. Any potential cat homes will need to live within driving distance of Oklahoma City so that we can do some meet and greets with the cat. With confident cats who assert themselves, she seems to do better versus shy cats who run, she will chase and get fixated on finding them. Jesse tolerates her young foster brother Mastiff, but wouldn’t mind a more settled mate, as she doesn’t have the energy level of a pup anymore. She’s about 6 years old. Jesse spent most her life with her single farmer so she is very shy and timid meeting new people and being in new places. Her city living foster family is working to socialize her and she is coming around very well. She is the sweetest and most affectionate girl who just wants to be with someone. She’s house and crate trained. Jesse is heartworm negative. She was in good health besides an ear infection which we have treated. She is ready for adoption! This sweet girl is a Mastiff/Dane mix. She is about 100 lbs and 7 years old. She was rescued from a shelter in AR and is sooo happy to be in a foster home! She is very smart and already learned how to use the doggie door. Lola's foster mom reports she is just sweet as pie and just about perfect! She is very loving and affectionate and well behaved in the house. She needs some work on not pulling during walks. She gets along with the Mastiff in her foster home. The only negative we can say is that she chases the cats in her foster home, so a house without cats would be best for her. Lola is very friendly and spry for her age so she would do best in a home without young kids. She would definitely be too much for them, so if your home has kids, ages 10+ would be best for her.Lola is completely vetted, heartworm negative and ready for a forever home!!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!May 17, 2023, 5:44 pm

He came to us from a shelter in TX as part of a neglect case. He was living locked up in a garage and not being cared for. The shelter saved them and then transferred to GPMR.Remus is what we call a 'fluffy' Mastiff. This is a recessive gene in Mastiffs that produces this longer coat and it's not something we see very often in rescue. He is so handsome!Remus is great with dogs of all sizes and energy levels - for small dogs/puppies he will lay on the floor to play. He’s shown internet in the cats in his foster home but has not tried to chase them. He does great with rodents in cages but he does become a little too interested when they are not caged. He has yet to meet a person who isn’t automatically his new best friend - especially if treats are involved! He is a very goofy outgoing boy who would love to have another dog friend to play with! Remus does occasionally spook at loud noises/fast movement but has improved greatly with this. We do recommend he is in a home with no kids or older children. He LOVES the 8yr old boy in his foster home and is so gentle and loving with him. We are working on basic training; he has not mastered heeling but does walk great on leash otherwise. We noticed Remus have a bit of an odd walk/run so we had Xrays done and he was diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia in his right hip. The vet said it is not something that requires any surgery but he does need to stay on joint supplements or a joint diet and keeping him lean is important. He does not let this slow him down or bother him though! He loves to romp and play with other dogs and plays fetch as long as you don’t like having the ball back immediately! Remus is heartworm negative and ready for adoption!Remus is being fostered near St. Louis, MO.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!May 17, 2023, 5:44 pm

This boy was rescued by a shelter in TX from a neglect situation. He was living in a garage with another dog and not being cared for. The shelter saved them and then they came to GPMR! He is estimated at two years old and has the energy of a young dog. He loves to leap and run around the yard showing off his goofy and fun side. He is new to house training and doing great! It’s been a long time since his last accident but still needs some guidance and encouragement on where to do his business outside.Roaming the house is no problem but he considers food on the counters fair game. We are careful to keep anything edible well out of his reach. Playing with his foster brother is his favorite thing to do! Mr. Johnson loves to play chase and tug-of-war or just lay around. He does well around cats, dogs and older humans. He hasn’t spent time around little ones yet, so a home with older kids or not kids would be the best fit for him. He is very affectionate and loving, wanting to be by your side all the time. It's hard to resist those puppy eyes!He doesn’t do well when separated from his people in the home. He’ll bark to let you know that he wants to be near you. With the in-home cameras, we’ve confirmed that he’s fine home alone while his foster parents work during the day. However we'd prefer to find him a home where someone is around part of the day.Mr. Johnson is a loving and healthy young dog looking for a family to play with and love. He really needs to have a canine companion in his forever home too!Dwyane is being fostered in Little Rock, AR.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!May 17, 2023, 5:44 pm
