These pics make you think 10 yr old Artemis is a couch potato. Think again. While she rests like a 10 yr old, when she's awake, she is ready for any adventure you want. Walks? Fetch? Car rides? She's your gal. *also down for sofa time. Artemis is currently in boarding and needs a foster or adopter. If you've got room in your heart for her, she won't let you down. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.    PLEASE NOTE: GPMR communicates primarily by email.  If you have any questions regarding one of our Mastiffs, please read their bio and if you still have questions - drop us an email at GPMastiffRescue@gmail.com.  If you have questions about our adoption procedures, please go to our page called 'Adoption Info.'  We answer email inquiries daily.    GPMR does not have a shelter. All of our dogs are kept in loving foster homes. We must have a completed adoption application on file before meeting any of our mastiffs.    GPMR adopts to the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana and parts of Colorado.  !!!Any mastiffs being adopted out of the state of Oklahoma require a health certificate to be paid for by the adopter!!!       Meet Maggie Mae! This beautiful girl was surrendered when her owner was moving and not able to bring Maggie with her. Maggie Mae is 3 years old and weighs about 165 lbs. She is housebroken and does great in the house, she is free roam and hasn't been at all destructive. She does fine with the dog and cats in her foster home but she's not really interested in playing with her foster brother. We don't have any history of her with children so she can't be placed in a home with kids under the age of 8 years. Maggie lets you know when she needs to go outside to potty and comes right back in when she is done. At her previous home, they lived on 10 acres without fencing and she always stayed right by her owners. She doesn't like to be outside alone, she's quite velcro and follows her foster mom everywhere. She's a little excited around meal time and so learning how to sit patiently and wait for her food to be put down. Like most Mastiffs, Maggie is a good watch dog and will alert you by barking if she hears any noise outside or sees anyone walking near the home. You'll never have anyone sneaking up to the house when she is there! Her previous owner reports she is afraid of loud noises such as fireworks.Like many of our Rescues, Maggie Mae unfortunately has heartworms and she just started her heartworm treatment. Once she has completed that, she'll be ready for adoption! Maggie Mae is being fostered in Tulsa, OK. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!September 24, 2024, 8:57 pm

This gorgeous apricot girl came to us an owner surrender. Her owner had several kids and while Nala did great with the older kids, she was reported to be snippy with the toddler so they surrendered her to GPMR. Nala was standoff-ish whens she first came into rescue but very quickly bonded her foster Dad. He reports that she EXTREMELY affectionate with her human, she is the typical velcro Mastiff and truly wants to be next to her human as much as possible. She is definitely a lap dog and wants to sleep with her human in bed. Nala is another one of these dogs in our current 'COVID dogs' age group. They were purchased during the pandemic and not socialized outside of the home. With patience, training and slow socialization, she is progressing wonderfully. She requires an adult only home. When she first arrived she would bark at any stranger. In the time we've had her she has now begun to approach people. She is still cautious but will allow them to pet her briefly and is improving daily. She's had some anxiety with the stress of rehoming but it has gotten better every day we've had her. She is definitely a dog that needs a chance to decompress and a family that is patient and willing to give her time to get comfortable.   Nala is very curious - she takes in everything she sees and examines it. She is very smart and learns quickly. She is housebroken, has never had an accident and will let you know when she needs go outside. She truly loves TV and will watch TV for hours if you let her. She really gets involved in what is happening on the screen. She recently went swimming and loved it!   Unfortunately Nala did not have really any training prior to coming to us. Her foster Dad has taught her not to go out the door unless given the command. She has gotten fairly good at heel and walks well with a few corrections as needed. They are working on sit, this is new to her as she rarely sits. She either stands up or lays down. She takes direction well and learns well with positive reinforcement. She loves going on walks, we walk a couple of miles early in the morning and again in the evening. So we'd love to see her adoptive family continue those daily walks. Her foster Dad is working on her recall now, and once she learned it she has never failed. 'Nala come' and she immediately stops what she is doing and comes right back. She is not very treat motivated but thrives on positive reinforcement.   Nala's perfect family would have a yard she could go out and explore and play in and that has no problem with her being on the furniture. Ideally she would have someone who is home at least part of the day versus a family that is away from the home for work every day. She's used to someone being around most of the time.  Nala loves car rides! But if only one human in car a barrier will be needed to keep her from the front seat, otherwise she'll be trying to get into your lap while driving.   Thankfully Nala is healthy and tested negative for heartworms. She's been spayed and once completes her basic training, she will be ready for adoption. Feel free to submit an application!Nala is being fostered in Abilene, TXVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!September 24, 2024, 8:57 pm

She is a female Mastiff (or possibly mix?) who was found dumped in a neighborhood. The family who rescued her has a little girl who named Daisy Peaches and we promised we would keep her name. Daisy was very fond of her! When she was found, she had infected bite wounds on her legs, scars all over her face from previous wounds and very underweight.Daisy is super sweet.  She is free roam when home alone and other than chewing one some glasses, she has not chewed anything else. However she will gather shoes, hats, etc and piles them on the bed but nothing has been chewed.  She is housebroken, and had not had any accidents.  The Vet says she is about 18 months old.  Daisy walks well on leash, in the back yard she will venture off some when but likes to keep you in her sight, like most Mastiffs she is very Velcro. She has learned the command 'sit' and we're working on her recall now. We suspect Daisy may have been used as a bait dog from all the scars and wounds she has/had.  She is selective about which dogs she likes.  She doesn’t react to the older Mastiff in the home, but she has fought with the younger female Mastiff. They have to be kept separated as any sudden movements from that dog seem to agitate Daisy. She's definitely been through some traumatic events in her short life and she may have to be placed as an only dog in the home as a result. The good news is she seems to enjoy kids and so a home with kids 6+ would be fine. Daisy is being fostered in Shawnee, OKVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!September 24, 2024, 8:57 pm
