Story
🐾🤎 STANLEY 🤎🐾 “Professional lap warmer. Part-time clothing collector.” Meet Stanley — a 2-3 year old Miniature Pinscher mix with satellite ears, soulful eyes, and a full-time job making sure you're never, ever alone. Need to fold laundry? Stanley's available. Watching a movie? Stanley's already on your lap. Getting up for a snack? Wonderful. Stanley was hoping for a field trip. He's what we lovingly call a Velcro Dog. Not because he sticks to furniture... ...because he sticks to you. And here's where Stanley gets wonderfully weird. He has a habit of quietly stealing a t-shirt, sweatshirt, slipper, or sock (don't worry, he doesn't destroy them) and carrying it back to his bed. Why? Because apparently sleeping next to something that smells like his favorite human is the greatest thing ever invented. Honestly... it's ridiculously sweet. Stanley also has another important hobby: Bird surveillance. The neighborhood birds are very aware that Stanley is on duty. He takes his security position seriously and likes to offer the occasional bark just so everyone knows the feathered freeloaders are being monitored. His résumé includes: ✔️ Neutered ✔️ Up to date on shots ✔️ Microchipped ✔️ Lap Dog Extraordinaire ✔️ Laundry Relocation Specialist ✔️ Bird Neighborhood Watch Captain ✔️ Certified Tiny Best Friend Stanley gets along well with other dogs and would love a family that enjoys having a constant little companion tagging along on life's adventures. Grocery run? Great. Couch marathon? Even better. Vacation? Don't forget his leash. Before Stanley found his way to us, life hadn't been very kind. He was discovered after surviving a terrible dog attack and was so badly injured it took more than two months for him to recover. During that time, everyone who met him fell in love with his determination and gentle spirit. Today, you'd never guess the little dog in front of you is the same one who fought so hard just to get here. Because food was once scarce, Stanley still prefers that mealtime be his own private affair. We completely understand. A peaceful place to eat and an adult home that respects his space are all he asks. The rest? He's just looking for someone to love. Someone whose lap can become his favorite place on Earth. Someone whose sweatshirt he can "borrow." Someone whose life he can quietly follow from room to room, simply because being together is his favorite activity. At the end of the day, Stanley isn't looking for a mansion, a huge yard, or a life of luxury. He's looking for his person. And judging by the way he looks at people... ...he'll spend the rest of his life making sure you never wonder how much you're loved. 🐾❤️ "Some dogs chase balls. Stanley chases his favorite human."

Story
Gideon is a 6 year old neutered male who was found as a local stray. Friendly, energetic, and sweet, Gideon is a fun dog who enjoys going on walks and romping around in the yard. He loves a good blanket and sometimes scares the staff by snuggling so deep into a comforter that we don't realize he's there! Gideon has a food allergy and will need to be on a strictly fish-based diet, but he's not picky with his food and has been more than happy with the adjustment. He could live with a dog-savvy cat and is selective about other dogs, so he may do best with a canine companion content to leave him alone. For more information on Gideon, call AWS at 860-354-1350 email animalwelfare.socty@snet.net or visit our website aws-shelter.org for an application. Adoption Fees for Adult Dogs are $400

Story
A LITTLE CRAZY & CRAZY-CUTE Hello, I'm a friendly guy named Felix. I love going on walks with all the staff, playing in the yard, enjoy meeting new people and am also good around other dogs. Like all dogs, I am a pack animal. That means I need a strong alpha leader to be consistent, remain calm, and let my loving personality shine. Even with training, I'm a high-strung resource guarder and require an adopter who will be a confident leader and continue with my training. Biting is an ongoing challenge for me too, so don't let my extreme cuteness override the fact that I'm high maintenance. The staff believe that I would do best in a single person household so that I don't develop any guarding behavior of one person over the other. I am microchipped, neutered, and up to date on my vaccinations.

DOB 3-29-2026 This little red head is Luke and he is a sweet boy! Luke is good with others, loves to play and a social boy, he will be around 10 pounds as an adult. Luke is up to date on shots and all medical for his age. His adoption fee is 750.00 and his transport fee is 165.00. HEARTS is our transport, they run every 2 weeks. It's the best transport and the only one we will use. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
