Story
A LOVING CONSTANT COMPANION:  Approx. 10 years / Approx. 18 lbs.     Hi, my name’s Rusty!  I lost my life-long home when my previous owner experienced medical issues and needed to go to assisted living.  I was sad about that, but fortunately, Mostly Mutts has been able to take me in and I’m in a great foster home while I wait to find my new family that is looking for a constant sweet companion.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I like the dogs I have met in my previous home, and I like the older chihuahua in my foster home – sharing our people and walking nicely with her on our daily walks (even slowing down to wait on her as she’s a bit slower than me!), so if you have a nice doggie at home, let’s meet! / I lived with five cats in my previous home, so if you have a dog-friendly kitty, let’s meet! / I liked children I met in my previous home, but I don’t remember their ages. Since I have been known to nip if startled or accidentally hurt, it’s best the children in my new home be older kids (age 15+), and - of course, let’s meet!     • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a sweet boy who - though initially nervous in new environments, I’ve been going to lots of places with my foster family and I’m doing well – in fact they take me everywhere with them. I often find a lap to jump in where I’m super happy as I’m a true lap dog!  I’ll even settle in and lean back, as if asking you to hold me like a baby – so loving!  I’m used to having my person with me all the time, so a stay-at-home family member is a must for me.  A true ‘velco dog’, I just want to be involved in whatever you are doing! You want to watch TV? Great, I’ll sit with you on the couch. You need to work at a desk? I’ll be in the dog bed on the floor in your office.  You cooking? I’ll help! You get the idea? I’m a great constant companion.  I have been a bit protective of my home, barking at strangers and sometimes nipping at the back of their leg when they turn away.  My foster is working on this with me now and I don’t do it in public, just in my home.  I get very anxious when left alone, and will bark and howl in protest, though I’m not destructive, but I should not live in an apartment or town home type home.  / My energy level is 4 - 6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  My foster and previous owner agree that I am a smart boy, so my foster enrolled me in Mostly Mutts’ Adult Basic Training classes where I recently received my certificate of completion for Mostly Mutts basic obedience.  This means, I have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, ‘down’, and ‘stay’ commands and how to ‘wait’ before entering and exiting doors. I also have good leash-walking manners, only pulling momentarily in new areas if something makes me nervous. / I sleep through the night in a crate near my foster’s bed with no issues.  In my former home, I slept with my owner, so – if allowed – I’d like to snuggle in with you at night, too. / My potty manners are great in my foster home, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too!  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  A real people dog, I enjoy going for walks with my family, as well as hanging out with them in a fenced yard.  I also love napping on or next to them and being with people all the time. I enjoy playing with squeaky toys and balls with my person.  Collecting all the cuddles is my favorite pastime! / I don’t like being left alone and will bark and howl in protest.  I also am not a fan of that confusing, pesky iRobot vacuum cleaner, so I bark at it – though I’m getting more used to it with time.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I have a couple old man lumps and bumps that don’t bother me, and I hope you won’t mind either.  I had a slightly elevated liver level, so I’m on a supplement to help keep it stable.  Mostly Mutts tested my liver levels in June, and they are stable with the supplement, so I should just stay on this supplement for life.  I have started having some eye tremors intermittently and am on medication for that to see if it will help. I’ve also started a medicine for my separation anxiety and CBD oil, to see if it will help when I’m alone.  I’m looking for a home where I will be a much-loved family member where I can be with my family a lot. My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  July 26, 2024, 11:37 am

Story
A FUN & SWEET YOUNG GUY:  Approx. 10 months old / Approx. 16 lbs.   Hi, my name is Little Red!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I sure am happy to be here! It appeared that I had been grazed by a car as I came in with some healing road rash and sore eyes that are doing great now.  I’m just about all healed up now and I’m really looking forward to living the great life with the security of being loved in my very own home – hopefully soon!   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts and was friendly with them.  If you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals!  / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me.       • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a really sweet fellow, though I needed time to know I was safe before I felt comfortable at Mostly Mutts.  I may need that in my new home, or I may be comfortable right away – we’ll just have to meet!  Once I got to know the nice volunteers, I became very much a ‘people dog’ and want to be near you.  At first, I didn’t want to walk on my own at the shelter, but once I got to the security of a room or pen, I opened up and was my friendly and playful self.  I’m a bit of a Houdini, so be mindful of doors and gates, as I don’t want to bolt away and get lost or hurt again. / My energy level is 5-7.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I will be learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  Check back soon to see my progress. / I don’t love going back to my crate after spending time with the volunteers – I sooooo prefer to be with them!  A treat is helpful to coax me back into my crate after social time. / I've had only a few accidents on the shelter schedule, so please continue to be consistent with me and I think I’ll do well.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Above all, I love being near my people and I like laps.  My shyness around them fades pretty quickly, and a sweet and playful guy soon emerges. In fact, I quickly took to the MM photographer, and my photo session was quite rambunctious! Toys interest me somewhat, so I bet we can have lots of fun play sessions together after I settle into my new home. / I am a bit head shy, and the volunteers know to go slow with me, as fast movements startle me.  I was not a fan of the eye meds I needed for a short time, but I no longer need those.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a great home with a loving family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  July 26, 2024, 11:37 am

Story
A SWEET LITTLE GIRL:  Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 10 lbs.  Hi, my name is Kendra!  I was in a bad situation, along with other dogs and wasn’t properly cared for.  I also had quite a few litters of puppies along the way, so thankfully animal control got involved and helped me (and the other dogs) get to Mostly Mutts so I can start living a good life with a wonderful family!  Thankfully, I’ve been spayed, and my mom duties are over, so I look forward to being a much-loved family pet in my new home!  Perhaps with you?       • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  Although I came in with other dogs, I was not a fan when meeting dogs at mostly Mutts – baring my teeth during my dog testing session, so I think I may enjoy being your only dog. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so if you have older responsible kids that won’t accidentally let me outside as I’m a bit of a flight risk right now, let’s meet!    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I was pretty scared when I first arrived.  With the love and patience of the volunteers, it is taking me less and less time to open up with each visit. In fact, once I warm up, I become a lap dog with the volunteers who take me to the Mostly Mutts play yard.  I’m sure to bring lots of love to my new home once I settle in and feel safe and secure. / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I look forward to learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  Check back soon to see my progress! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I've been having some accidents on the shelter schedule as I was not properly potty trained in my former situation, so please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Once I know you, I am a sweet and loyal friend, so let’s spend time cuddling in your lap once I’m feeling at home.  I’ve not really shown interest in toys yet, so perhaps you can show me how much fun they can be. / I would not want to be rushed in my new home, so – like the volunteers – just allow time for me to warm up to you.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.  I came to Mostly Mutts with an untreated ear infection, so I’ve been treated for that now.  I am looking for a calm, quiet home where I will be a cherished family member!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  July 26, 2024, 11:37 am

Story
Dallas is a sweet puppy with a lot of energy. He grunts when he wants attention. He barks out of fear but isn't aggressive at all. He will lick you to death if you let him. Dallas is good with small dogs like him, but not good with big dogs. Dallas needs space to run and burn his energy. He can play alone for hours with his favorite toys. He is very smart and trainable. Dallas also puts himself to bed when it's time. He is crate trained. Dallas can learn to play with kids, but it will take time since coming from a home without children. I am rehoming him to someone that not only has time for him, but has the space for him to run and possibly kids to can grow with and play with.

Story
Evie 9 years old (DOB 5/11/2015); 13.2 lbs. Spayed, UTD on vaccines, HW negative and on prevention MPMR requires all dogs in the home to be on heartworm prevention, spayed or neutered, and current on vaccines unless there is a verifiable reason by a vet. Meet Evie. This girl adores women and takes a bit of time (treats help) to warm up to men. She is learning about toys now that her teeth have been cleaned and will sometimes briefly play tug with her person. Evie will gladly do anything for snacks. She is quite friendly once she trusts and eager to snuggle with someone on top of or under blankets. She also has more energy than you'd expect from a dog her age and will make a good walking buddy, though she does need some work on leash training and would probably do best with a fenced yard. In her foster home, Evie quickly learned where the door was that leads outside, and she has done extremely well letting us know when she needs to go out to do her business. At some point in her past, she had a home as she knows a few commands including "sit," "get down," and "dance." We are still working on "come." She will do best as someone's one and only as she thrives on people attention and does not care much for other dogs. She tolerates them in her foster home, but the difference in her behavior when she is the only one near her people is drastic. She is much friendlier when she doesn't have to concern herself with sharing someone's lap. As she is quite a barker. No apartments or condos. Evie has some pain in her neck from something that happened in her past. She takes Galliprant daily (a 90 count bottle lasts her 6 months). Without it, she would not allow anyone to pick her up due to neck pain, but on the medication, she does allow it albeit with some hesitance until she knows you.
