Story
Sweet Ginger is a petite Miniature Pinscher who is two weeks away from her 12th birthday! This precious 7 pound lady finds herself in need of a new home. Sadly, her owner had to move into a retirement home that does not allow dogs. A bit scary for Ginger who is also blind in her old age. She gets around fine in her foster Mom's home, she learns quickly. Ginger is fine with other dogs, but will let them know quickly if they are annoying her! Ginger is so tiny, she makes an excellent inside dog. Although she likes to go out and is leash trained, Ginger needs to be watched at all times while outside for her safety. Trained to pee pads, she will be fine inside. Ginger is also diabetic and needs 2 injections a day, one after each meal. She also has cataracts, but such a sweet and cute girl. Her monthly cost for medication and prescription food is about $300.

Story
LOOKING FOR MY ANGEL:  Approx. 11 years / Approx. 17 lbs. Hi, my name’s Rusty!  I lost my life-long home when my previous owner experienced medical issues & needed to go to assisted living.  I was sad about that, but fortunately, Mostly Mutts has been able to take me in & I’m in a great foster home while I wait to find my new family that is looking for a constant, sweet companion. I was adopted for a few weeks, but came back to Mostly Mutts as the home was not a good fit.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I like the dogs I have met in my previous home, & I like the older calm chihuahua in my foster home – sharing our people & walking nicely with her on our daily walks, so if you have a nice dog at home, let’s meet! / I lived with five cats in my previous home. / I liked the calm children I met in my previous home, but I don’t remember their ages. Since I have been known to nip if startled or accidentally hurt, it’s best the children in my new home be older calm kids (age 15+), & - of course, let’s meet!    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a sweet boy who, though initially nervous in new environments, adjusts nicely in a very calm environment which is what I’m looking for in my home.  I often find a lap to jump in where I’m super happy as I’m a true lap dog!  I’ll even settle in & lean back, as if asking you to hold me like a baby – so loving!  I’m used to having my person with me all the time, so a stay-at-home family member is a must for me.  A true ‘Velcro dog’, I just want to be involved in whatever you are doing! You want to watch TV? Great, I’ll sit with you on the couch. You need to work at a desk? I’ll be in the dog bed on the floor in your office.  You cooking? I’ll help! You get the idea? I’m a great constant companion.  I have been a bit protective of my home, barking at strangers & sometimes nipping at the back of their leg when they turn away.  My foster is working on this with me now & I don’t do it in public, just in my home. A home without a lot of people coming & going is best for me. I did nip in my temporary home, but it was also learned that they were not giving me the proper dosage of my anxiety medication. / My energy level is 4 - 6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  My foster reports that I am a smart boy, so they enrolled me in Mostly Mutts’ Adult Basic Training classes where I recently received my certificate of completion for Mostly Mutts basic obedience.  This means I have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’, ‘down’, & ‘stay’ commands & how to ‘wait’ before entering & exiting doors. I also have good leash-walking manners, only pulling momentarily in new areas if something makes me nervous. They also say that I’m so smart that I know what they are asking me to do.  I do not respond well to any physical force as I’m very sensitive & get my feelings hurt easily, so a calm home & quiet-natured family is what I will thrive in. / I don’t need a crate at all in my foster home & in fact I do better without one. When my fosters leave the house, I do howl for a bit (so best no apartment/condo type home please), but I haven’t been destructive, & I usually just hang out on the couch.  At night I sleep in my dog bed next to my fosters’ bed & that makes me happy. / My potty manners are great in my foster home, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too!  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I enjoy going for walks with my family, as well as hanging out with them in a fenced yard.  I also really love napping on the couch under a blanket & I enjoy playing with squeaky toys & balls with my person.  Collecting all the cuddles is also very nice! /  I am not a fan of that confusing, pesky iRobot vacuum cleaner, so I bark at it – though I’m getting more used to it with time.  I don’t like being restrained or physically forced to do something – it frightens me. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love & attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped & neutered.  I have a couple old man lumps & bumps that don’t bother me, & I hope you won’t mind either.  I am  taking an inexpensive anxiety medication (fluoxetine), which has greatly improved some intermittent eye tremors & some separation anxiety I was experiencing. I will likely need to take this medication forever as it helps me so much.   I’m looking for a home where I will be a much-loved family member where I can be with my family a lot. My adoption fee is $100.00, & I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  April 12, 2025, 7:36 am

Story
A FUN & LOVABLE GUY:  Approx. 7 years old / Approx. 14 lbs.    Hi, my name’s Cullen!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and boy I’m grateful for the good care I am getting here.  I came in with a lot of fur loss and skin issues as well as ear infections due to neglect.  Some time has passed now and I’m coming along so well – healing and just so happy!  I’m also heartworm positive, but I’ve been treated for that and am in my rest period now.  I have some decreased hearing, possibly from the previously untreated ear infections, but I don’t let it bother me at all!  I’m now ready to meet my new family and live a great life with them!     • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I liked playing with them a lot!  I was also friendly with the neighbor’s dog in my previous foster home and wanted to play and engage with them through the fence.  If you have a dog that would love a playful friend, let’s meet, though I can’t play with them until after I’ve recovered from my heartworm treatment. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me.      • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a cuddly and affectionate guy with a very happy demeanor.  A social fellow, the volunteers describe me as ‘fun, busy, darling and lovable’ with a personality that is ‘beyond cute’, so be ready to have your heart stolen.  I’ll alert you to people at the door and sometimes on walks, though I have been very friendly when they approach me. / My energy level is 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I look forward to learning lots of great commands with my trainer.  I have mastered the ‘sit’ and ‘come’ commands and look forward to learning even more.  Check back soon to see my progress. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts, though I would rather be with people, and I loved sleeping in my foster’s bed in my previous foster home.  It would be nice if I could do that in my new home, too. / I've been having accidents on the shelter schedule, though my previous foster said I was really starting to catch on with my potty habits with them.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like snuggling, being picked up and those great belly rubs!  Treats are great, and I also enjoy running around and playing, though I won’t be able to do that until I’ve fully recovered from my heartworm treatment.  I’m curious while out and about and enjoy my walks.  Car rides are fun, and I do well on them, so – let’s ride! / I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. Unfortunately, my previous owner did not keep me on a heartworm preventative, and I've tested heartworm positive.  Thankfully, I’ve been treated for it and am in my recovery period now, which will conclude early to mid-May.  I will have my heartworm re-check in November.  I am still available for adoption during this time, but local adoption only, please. I have some decreased hearing that doesn’t bother me, and I hope you won’t mind either.  I’m getting medicated baths while my fur continues to grow in, and these can be done in my new home.  I am looking for a wonderful family who will see me through my heartworm treatment and love me for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    April 4, 2025, 12:16 pm

Story
Hi! My name is Calisto. Since I have that name, you should know I think I am a pirate. "Aye, Aye, Matey." I have a pirate's handsome dark looks, swashbuckling style, and a permanent wink. Pretty cool, huh?  I am a 5-year-old, 14 lb. Minature-Pinscher mix. I am tall and trim with well-defined muscles. You probably noticed I am missing an eye; it was from an accident a long time ago, but it doesn't bother me - it's what gives me my pirate swagger.  I am doing super in my foster home and get along well with the other three dogs, but I love the humans most. I love it when they hold me and give me lots of pets. If they are busy with their hands, I get the pets from their feet. By the way, I do prefer ladies, but I'm okay with a patient man. I am also quiet in my crate at night and when you need to go somewhere. You should know that I absolutely love to eat. I have 'nosed" out all the food locations in the house, but they keep it all where I can't help myself. I like going outside and being on furniture and even a soft dog bed. I am just a very agreeable guy. I would love to be the new pirate in your home! Can't wait to meet you!       An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms    Please be sure to like our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org    Note:   Some apartments and neighborhoods  have breed restrictions. Story
Topper was rescued from a South Atlanta animal shelter.  She was quite shy the first few days, so we gave her some space and she began to seek us out after about 4 days.  After a few weeks, she follows us and seeks affection.  She is very sweet and silly.  Topper is 6 yrs old weighs 16 lbs. and looks like a mini German Shepherd.  She will come inside when called for her food and bed time, but she really enjoys playing in the yard with her canine friends.  She loves her dry kibble and is not a picky eater.  She needs to learn to take treats gently though, watch those fingers!  When her foster mom is loving on other dogs, she'll yip and tug your pants leg!  She wants ALL your love, and we are working to correct that behavior.  We only crate Topper when she's eating.  However, we do baby gate her when nobody is home. When you pick her up, she'll lay her head on your shoulder and melt your heart instantly. Alcovy dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on all vaccines, up to date on heart-worm preventative and flea preventative and micro-chipped.
