Story
Angel is very sweet little 8# Min Pin who is a senior - ~ 12-13 years old and needs her forever home!  She came to us recently (January 2023) due to a woman who agreed to foster her for 2-3 weeks by a homeless man.  Little Angel was living w/him in his car and was so cold (living in the car).  So he thought enough of her to get a person to keep her temporarily (or so she thought).  After three months w/no communication by this person, she reached out to us.  Since we LOVE the geri’s (geriatrics), we immediately made arrangements to get her!  She went from person’s home (who, also, didn’t have heat all the time) to the Vet where she was examined, given Rabies vacc only, & senior bloodwork done.  Per the Vet, she’s relatively healthy (other than needing a dental and a Grade 3-4 heart murmur).  Her lab work was excellent - other than having a UTI for which she's on antibiotics, the Vet was very impressed @ her numbers since she wasn't well taken care of previously!  Her dental will be done sometime in February (2023).  The rescue (A Welcome Home Animal Rescue) has and will incur a substantial vet bill, but she is worth it.  IF any reading this would like to donate towards her cause, we would be most grateful! You can donate thru the "Donate" link located @ upper right hand corner (please select Atlanta office as there is our sister rescue in AK). She gets along w/dogs and is so sweet – everyone (including entire Vet staff) say how sweet she is!  She’d be great for a senior human or a quiet person that does not want a rambunctious dog.  She’s a LAP SITTER above all, and would be such a GREAT companion for a quiet household. Good at using pee pads. METRO ATLANTA AND SURROUNDING AREAS ONLY Email passionforanimals5017@gmail.com June 2, 2023, 8:26 am

Story
A CUTE LITTLE GUY:  11 years old / 12 lbs.  Hi, my name is Amos!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and it took me time to settle in at the shelter with so many different volunteers. So now I’m in a great foster home with just a few family members and I like that better. I needed a good dental cleaning when I arrived, and I’ve received that thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization!  I got to spend time in the prison/foster training program where I learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I do pretty well with the 3 small dogs in my foster home, though I do sometimes have some guarding behaviors, so if you have a little dog already, let’s meet and see if we can be friends. / I tend to chase the cats in my foster home, so I’m not too sure about them. / I’m looking for a home without kids as I may nip very hard if I don’t like something.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a pretty friendly little guy, though I am a bit hesitant and do have a propensity to nip if I am not happy with something. I really like people and being petted, but when I’m done, I’m done.  I tend to get most upset with my leader, but I am easily redirected out of my meltdowns.  I worked on this in the prison/foster training program and my foster family will continue working with me too.  I will likely need time to settle in with my new home too.  My fosters describe me as playful and sweet. I really do want to show you my sweet side. / My energy level is 3-5.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette as well as have good leash manners. My trainer says I don’t need the ‘drop it’ command since I don’t pick anything up LOL. / My crate manners were good at Mostly Mutts. / I did well with my potty habits on the shelter schedule and am doing pretty well in my foster home.  I did wear a belly band in my foster home at times so please ask about this.  My fosters also announced “go out” as a cue for potty time. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Though slow to warm up, I do enjoy attention from my people and once I know you well, I like butt scratches and rubbing on top of my little head.  I will ask for attention.  I also did well for my bath and was especially fond of the Pup-Peroni I received at the end – lol. / I don’t like restraint or hands near my face and am doing best with harness walking (with the harness left on).  My foster family report that I am improving as I get more comfortable, so being patient with me is key.  My fosters said it helps to announce “leash” as we get ready to get my leash on so that I am prepared for that. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’ve had a dental cleaning and 6 teeth pulled, so my mouth is fresh again.  I have a history of a grade 3 heart murmur, but it’s sometimes undetected since I’m on medication. I need a heart echo twice a year to check the condition of my heart and I’m on 2 heart medications called Enalapril and Vetmedin also Furosemide which is a diuretic. I’ll need to stay on these medications for life. I have an old man lump/bump on my bottom that was checked out by the vet and is of no concern – it’s just part of my old guy charm.  I’ve been taking a low dose of generic Prozac and it has been helping with my nipping behaviors. I should be muzzled for vet visits as they stress me. I am looking for a patient and loving family to give me a wonderful furever home!  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  June 3, 2023, 9:55 am

Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
MPMR requires all adopters to have their pets up-to-date on vaccinations, to be spayed or neutered, and on heartworm prevention. Maci 5-year-old Min Pin female 11 lbs. Fully vetted Maci is quite the character. She is an independent little girl who is reminiscent of a cat. She loves spending time outdoors to the point we require her to have a home with a secure fenced yard since she can escape some fencing by way of digging. Privacy fencing is preferred. However, if you have chain link with the bottom dog-proofed, we could consider that as well. She will also be a great walking or hiking buddy if desired as she does not easily tire. She does better in low traffic environments as lots of noise makes her uneasy. A confident dog friend will help her learn the ropes faster and adjust more quickly. She makes friends with anyone who has treats and would do fine in a home with older children over the age of 8 who understand how to interact with dogs. Maci is house trained in her foster home, though as with any dog, we expect a few accidents as she adjusts to a new environment. Thankfully, she has good house manners. She has only two faults, and one of those won't be an issue for many. Maci is not at all a fan of car rides, so she should be adopted within an hour or so of her foster home. She is not suitable for someone who travels often. The other is that she is a door darter and bolter. She will need to be held, put behind a baby gate, or crated (temporarily since she isn't a fan of the crate) if people are coming and going because she is not an easy dog to catch. She also moves faster than someone can blink, so don't think she isn't paying attention to your every move even if she appears to be sleeping. Of note medically speaking is that Maci has been diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. She is currently on 0.5 MG of Budesonide a day. It costs around $30 a month from a compounding pharmacy. Without medication, Maci has shown she would not eat much unless food was of a mashed potato consistency and would often vomit undigested food 30 minutes to 10 hours after eating. Her diet is limited to grain-free food and a few select treats to keep flares from occurring. Weaning off meds was attempted but did not go well. The vet finds it highly unlikely that she will ever come off the steroid. Since starting the medication, she has blossomed into a normal dog. she dances, bounces, wiggles, and whines for food and her meds which are hidden in a bit of cheese. She is also starting to play with the other dogs more and is slowly becoming more willing to snuggle near someone. Her personality absolutely shines now that her GI system feels better. If you have any questions, please email them to mpmrgeorgia@gmail.com. If interested in adopting sweet Maci, complete an adoption application at http://tinyurl.com/mpmrapp
