Story
Jack is a sweet, sensitive ~7 year old 20lb dog rescued as a young stray. At home he's low-key - happy to nap nearby with short bursts of play. He loves squeaky toys, tug, and jumping onto any cozy spot. He's good for 8+ mile summer hikes but prefers very short walks in the winter (naked belly!). He's a regular café/bar dog and settles quietly on a mat for some time.Jack is shy and anxious at his core and does best in calm, familiar environments. Loud sounds startle him, so he's not a fit for homes with babies or very young kids. Older kids/teens are great. He's fearful of unfamiliar dogs but can warm up to a well-matched smaller or calmer dog.Important: Jack has separation anxiety and is not currently left alone. He's on anti-anxiety medication and receptive to desensitization training. We can share his ongoing plan.Neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, house-trained, knows basic commands. Ideal home: a quiet, stable, multi-adult household with consistent companionship.

Story
Meet Maxima Name: MaximaAge: 3 years, 3 monthsGender: FemaleWeight: 10 kilos / 22 lbsBreed: Miniature Pinscher MixColor: Black & BrownCoat: Short Health Spayed Vaccinated Heartworm Negative Compatibility Good with dogs: Yes Good with kids: Yes, ages 10+ Good with cats: No Leash trained: Yes Potty trained: Yes — she keeps her foster area clean and adjusts quickly to household routines Crate trained: Yes Maxima currently shares space with other dogs in her foster home and sleeps comfortably in her own dog bed in a designated area. Personality Maxima is pure joy wrapped in a sleek little body. She is intelligent, playful, and full of life. Despite everything she’s endured, she greets each day with a wagging tail and bright, hopeful eyes. She completed professional training and was one of the top students in her class — meaning she already has excellent manners and loves learning. She enjoys her daily walks, does wonderfully with other dogs, and truly thrives on human companionship. In her foster home, she spends time with a young human friend and shows just how gentle, patient, and affectionate she can be. Maxima bonds deeply with her people and is happiest when she feels included in everyday life. She would be a wonderful fit for an active family or individual who enjoys walks, playtime, and building a strong connection with their dog. Maxima’s Ideal Home At about 18 inches tall, Maxima is compact and adaptable — a great fit for apartments, condos, or homes with limited space, as long as she receives regular exercise and engagement. She would love: A family that includes her in daily activities An adopter who appreciates her training and continues reinforcing it A home with respectful children (10+) A dog sibling — or she would also thrive as the center of attention Most importantly, Maxima needs a stable, committed forever home where she will be cherished as a true family member. Maxima’s Rescue Story Maxima’s life changed overnight when her owner passed away. Instead of being given time to adjust or grieve, she was taken to a dog pound by relatives who intended to euthanize her. Thankfully, her rescuer happened to be there that same day and offered to take her instead. And just like that, her life was saved. When she first arrived in rescue, Maxima was deeply fearful. She barked at dogs and people alike, overwhelmed and unsure of the world around her. After losing her person, it’s believed she experienced mistreatment that left emotional scars. Her rehabilitation took time, patience, and the guidance of a professional trainer in Colima, Mexico. Slowly, she learned to trust again. Step by step, she discovered that she was safe. Today, Maxima is confident, loving, and ready to belong to a family again. Her journey shows incredible resilience — she simply needed someone to believe in her. Ready to Welcome Maxima? Maxima is currently waiting in Mexico for a committed trial home so she can travel to the Pacific Northwest. If you are interested in adopting, please apply at:www.northwestwagrescue.org Her adoption fee is $600. Maxima has overcome so much. Now she’s just waiting for the family who will never let her go again. ##2666357##
