This dog's adoption fee is $200. If you are still interested, please read more below. This sweet boy had to come back to ARF because his Mom needed more care herself. She moved to assisted living and was not able to take care of her beloved dog any longer. He was already an aging dog when she adopted him. Today he has many challenges. He is looking for an angel who will care for him, provide soft beds for his many naps, and loving pets for him for the time he has left. He is on blood pressure medicine for the rest of his life, his sight is extremely limited, and his hearing is going. He does get the zoomies after a bath and excited at meal time - you see the puppy emerge occasionally for quick bursts. He is fine with cats (ignores them) and gets along well with other dogs. Claude is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations and neutered. This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today! Friar is an adorable 2-year-old male Miniature Poodle mix with the sweetest brown coat and an even sweeter personality! He’s a loving little guy who adores chewing on his toys, playing ball, and snuggling up with his favorite humans. Though a bit shy at first, once you win his heart with a game of fetch, you’ll have a loyal friend for life! Friar is wonderful with kids and other dogs and loves spending time in a fenced-in backyard where he can run and play freely. He’s still learning potty training and getting used to the leash, but with patience and encouragement, he’ll gain more confidence over time. He sleeps in his crate at night (though sometimes wakes up ready to play!) and is a bit of a picky eater, but he can’t resist a good pig ear treat. Friar also has some unique features that make him extra special — he has permanent alopecia on the top of his head and is missing a few teeth, but both just add to his charm! He came to Anderson Humane from an overcrowded shelter in Louisiana and is ready to find a loving home where he can continue to blossom and share his big heart. FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60619 ESTIMATED DOB: 2013 WEIGHT: 9.5 lbs KIDS: Older DOGS: Yes CATS: Yes HISTORY: Motor came to us from a local Animal Control facility where he was turned in as a stray. ABOUT: Motor’s foster mom said he is a “pretty regular dog.” Motor is cuddly and loves attention. He is smart and quickly and easily adapts to your schedule. He is very food motivated for any training needs. His foster mom says he sometimes “doesn’t hear you” the first time you ask, but does as asked if you repeat yourself. Motor is good on leash and enjoys going for walks. He also enjoys lounging outside when the weather is nice, but isn’t a fan of very hot weather. He is a little anxious in the car and gives a quiet whine until he gets to the destination. Motor knows both sit and come. He also enjoys stuffed toys (especially if you play with him), but the rope toys with stuffies on the end only collect dust. Motor has been fine with everyone he has met both inside and outside the home, he seems to be pretty easy going with new people and doesn’t get overly excited. He seems to look to his foster mom for guidance on how to act with new people. Motor’s foster mom keeps him gated in one room of the house when no one is home, but even at 13 he has come up with some creative solutions to get under or over it. His foster mom said “I guess you can say he is really not closed off” 🤣 Motor is being fostered with a cat and other dogs and he has done well with both. Motor is not being fostered with children, but his foster thinks he will do fine with kids old enough to be respectful of a senior dog. Motor is housetrained, but like many male dogs he likes to do the occasional recreational peep, but he is agreeable to wearing belly bands to control this. Motor will bark to let you know he needs a potty break. Being a senior fellow, Motor will probably thrive in a home with a reasonable amount of routine and consistency. He will need someone with a lot of time and patience to allow him the time and space he needs to start trusting you. Salty Dog will need a secure fenced in yard where he can be safe as he is learning to trust people. He would do best in a quieter home with 2 or fewer dogs so he can get the attention he needs. Would not be good in an apartment. Salty Dog is $300 to adopt, about 22 pounds, and 5 years old. He is located in TX and not available for out of state adoption.
