**********Please read bio fully before responding. We appreciate your interest in one of our dogs and it would be very helpful when you respond if you share information about yourself(home/yard, work hours, other pets, kids, dog experience..) Also, we do have an application at sparrowdogs.com that we will need in order to proceed with the adoption. THANK YOU!! Yes, he is one handsome little boy, and he really knows it! Mick is a man about town, a ladies man. Well, he thinks so. He loves the female dogs in his foster home, and they tolerate him, lol. Mick is doing OK with the other male dogs in the home, but we think that he would be happier in a home as the only male. Mick is a 5 year old Chocolate poodle, he is 5 years old. He is a spunky guy, has a lot of energy and loves to play. He is very happy on our short excursions outside(brrrr) and quickly takes care of his business. We do have him in a belly band right now. Things are new to him and he wanted to mark in the house, the belly band helps with that. Being recently neutered those feelings will pass, but he will need a home committed to keeping him on the right path, and understand that it can take a little time for him to get past the marking behaviors. He is a happy go lucky little guy that will probably be best in an adult household. Mick, like many poodles, has had ear infections and has narrowing of the canal on his left side. That has been treated, but he may be more prone to infections on that side and need treatment in the future. Mick is always happy, always ready for a snuggle and some attention, He would love to find a person or two to hang around with, enjoy some long walks, explore a neighborhood together, perhaps a farmers market, or two! He may be fine with teen-ish kids, but we think he will be best in an adult household. His adoption fee is $350, please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
Snowball is a beautiful 5-month-old terrier mix puppy with a big personality and even bigger energy. This happy girl is lively, affectionate, and always ready for action. She loves to run, play, and interact with other dogs, and she truly thrives when she’s getting lots of attention from her people. Snowball enjoys being petted and often wants to be right in the middle of everything going on. Snowball is a high-energy puppy who will do best in a home where someone is around most of the day to keep her engaged, supported, and on a consistent routine. Because of her excitement level and ongoing puppy manners, a home with kids ages 8 and older only is required. She is quite vocal—especially when food or treats are involved—and is still learning polite treat-taking, as she can be a bit nippy while figuring that out. House training is coming along well: she holds it reliably in her crate with no accidents, though she does protest vocally when crated. Due to her age and small bladder, she needs potty breaks about every 3 hours and typically needs to go roughly one hour after eating. Snowball does show signs of excited or submissive urination, meaning she may dribble a small amount when overly excited or when picked up—this is common in young puppies and something she should outgrow with time and confidence. One fun fact about Snowball: she absolutely loves water! Splashing around is one of her favorite activities, and bath time is easy and stress-free as long as treats are involved. Overall, Snowball is a joyful, social, high-energy puppy who is still learning basic manners and bladder control but is making steady progress. With patience, structure, and lots of interaction, she will make a wonderful companion for an active, puppy-savvy home ready to keep up with her zest for life. If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Story
I work at a veterinary hospital. Pearl was brought in as a stray that was almost hit by a car. She is chipped however chip wasn’t registered. We took the necessary steps to reunite her with her owner but was not claimed. I brought her to the Dupage animal control to formally adopt, spay, /re-chipped in late September 2025. Based on her exam shes between 3-5 years old. She is UTD on all vaccinations. REASON FOR REHOMING: My son has a Golden retriever and lives in an in-law arrangement connected to our home. Our family gave Pearl some time to acclimate in our space before a formal introduction w/ Retriever. We since have been able to have them cohabitate in our home.. but Pearl continues to be dog reactive and O protective w/ our son & Retriever. Our son shares a yard and exit door with us there is no way of knowing exactly when he or retriever are coming or going. Pearl does like some small dogs. I’d be glad to dog sit when able.. she is a barker around other dogs.

Story
FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60619 ESTIMATED DOB: 2013 WEIGHT: 9.5 lbs KIDS: Older DOGS: Yes CATS: Yes HISTORY: Motor came to us from a local Animal Control facility where he was turned in as a stray. ABOUT: Motor’s foster mom said he is a “pretty regular dog.” Motor is cuddly and loves attention. He is smart and quickly and easily adapts to your schedule. He is very food motivated for any training needs. His foster mom says he sometimes “doesn’t hear you” the first time you ask, but does as asked if you repeat yourself. Motor is good on leash and enjoys going for walks. He also enjoys lounging outside when the weather is nice, but isn’t a fan of very hot weather. He is a little anxious in the car and gives a quiet whine until he gets to the destination. Motor knows both sit and come. He also enjoys stuffed toys (especially if you play with him), but the rope toys with stuffies on the end only collect dust. Motor has been fine with everyone he has met both inside and outside the home, he seems to be pretty easy going with new people and doesn’t get overly excited. He seems to look to his foster mom for guidance on how to act with new people. Motor’s foster mom keeps him gated in one room of the house when no one is home, but even at 13 he has come up with some creative solutions to get under or over it. His foster mom said “I guess you can say he is really not closed off” 🤣 Motor is being fostered with a cat and other dogs and he has done well with both. Motor is not being fostered with children, but his foster thinks he will do fine with kids old enough to be respectful of a senior dog. Motor is housetrained, but like many male dogs he likes to do the occasional recreational peep, but he is agreeable to wearing belly bands to control this. Motor will bark to let you know he needs a potty break. Being a senior fellow, Motor will probably thrive in a home with a reasonable amount of routine and consistency. Are you looking to add an easy going, friendly, “regular” guy to your home? You can find our adoption application on our website: www.luluslockerrescue.org. Motor knows better than to bother a cat: https://youtube.com/shorts/VY6qgxavOp8
