Story
Hi new friends, my name is Abby. I am about 13 years young, am spayed, and am about 14-pounds. I am currently in a foster home so don't stop by MHS to meet me! Your first step is to call them at 219-872-4499. Now, onto more about me... I am the world's biggest fan of being around people and having lots of attention. I love to be held and "snuggling" should be my middle name. I am used to living in a quiet home with just a person or two. I really love it most when someone is home to be with me. When people leave me, it makes me sad. It would be the best thing ever if whoever adopts me is home the majority of the time so I can live out my golden years being content and in the company of my new best friend. I love to find soft blankets and curl up on them. It's even better if they are right next to you. Yummy treats are something I won't pass up. I take them gently and am so polite. When I really want something, I sit pretty for it. It makes the humans swoon. My previous owner also taught me how to smile! I think if there are kiddos in my new home, I'd prefer them to be old enough to understand to be respectful around me. I don't mind other doggies when we are in a neutral area, but in my home, it has always been me, so could we pretty please keep it that way regarding furry friends? I have done quite well with being mostly house-trained. In fact, I usually bark to go outside and come back in. I am so loving. My little tail wags happily when I see you and I know I can bring you so much joy. Love, Abby.

Adopt Phiol! 2 y. o., 10 pound neutered male Shih Tzu Mix · Active, friendly, social butterfly · Licking machine · Loves his raw vegetable snacks, especially broccoli · Sleeps with his human Phil, the little cutie, is looking for his forever home & looking forward to his long hair growing back. Phil came to us with his hair painfully matted all over. He had to be shaved. A playful, affectionate 2 year old, Shih Tzu mix boy, Phil likes going for walks & exploring the yard. Phil is generally a fan of people and likes to sleep with his human. He can be shy at first, but with time, treats & maybe a soft or squeaky toy, Phil shows his friendly side. Phil gets along with the dogs in his foster home. He runs & plays a little with the big & medium size guys. There are no large dogs or cats in his foster home. Phil might some time before being comfortable with a big dog; with a laid back big dog that time could be short. It seems likely that he would not present a danger to cats, but a resident cat might be annoyed by Phil’s interest. In all weather, Phil does like you to be outside with him. Phil would love a family who will regularly take him for walks and engage him in energetic play. He becomes an indoor zoomer when the outside temperature falls below 15 degrees. With his above average energy, a small dog secure fenced yard is a requirement. You can see Phil active in videos & learn more about him on his public Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555734784605, or search on "Phil of Heather’s Foster Dogs". Phil is pee pad/house trained, neutered, microchipped & up to date on his vaccinations. He will require regular professional grooming to keep him looking handsome & comfortably mat-free. So please keep this in mind when considering adopting him. Phil’s adoption fee is $500. Interested? Then go to our website, heathersfosterdogs.org. Click on Adoption Application in the menu at the top of the page to find our electronic application which serves as the basis of a conversation. Submit it & you will be contacted. No meetings will be scheduled without a reviewed application. ***Please note that we are a foster based group located in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Under normal circumstances, we serve only our geographic area.***

Story
What do I say about this bundle of joy? Kobe is approaching 2 years old (birthday May 7, 2022) and I’ve had him since he was 9 weeks old. Something about those big brown eyes drew me in, and he truly has changed my life! The poodle in him makes for an incredibly smart, intuitive dog that thrives on solving challenges. He has a calm, open-minded, funny personality. He requires mental and physical stimulation, which is why he’s great for either families with small children, couples, or people who live active lifestyles. Kobe is crate trained. Top consideration will be given to applicants with a backyard. He reads people very well and will easily pick up on your moods, preferences, and of course whether you really mean what you say or not. haha! Kobe is a fast learner, adaptable, and aims to please his master. He is extremely affectionate, yet sensitive due to his small size (he weighs 11 lbs). He is best in a home where he is the only male dog.

Bobby came to the shelter as a stray. He was badly matted and needed a spa day. He is a friendly guy who likes every adult he meets and will jump on your lap and immediately roll over for a belly rub. The perfect lap dog. He is an active guy who loves to run around in a fenced yard. He's not fond of children and can be selective with other dogs. Bobby wants to be your "little prince' in the home.

Story
Before arriving at Famous Fido Rescue, Bandit had been living his life confined to a crate. He came in with matted hair, drenched in urine and feces. This little guy felt so much relief to have a groom and leave his past behind him. Bandit really needs someone who is going to give him a lot of attention and make up for the lost time in his life. He’s a precious boy and should be made to feel so.

Story
Perry is an X- Puppy Mill Dog Needing a Patient Home That Will Help Him Blossom. Perry is an active young fella that is getting to know what life is like outside a puppymill. He has spent the first year of his life in a mill. He was released by the breeder who no longer wanted him. Perry has been with us about 4 months and during the time he has done very well adjusting to living in a home, not a cage. Puppy Mill dogs are not socialized and are afraid of many noises and sounds another dog has generally been exposed to. Each day is a new learning experience. Perry has learned his lessons well enough to begin a new life with a new family. Mill dogs MUST have fenced in yards for their potty place. This is not optional, This is for safety. They must have dog savvy families that have time and patience to earn a dog's trust. They also should be in adult homes that are very careful with doors, gates, etc,. to prevent door dashing. No one wants a lost dog, but we don't want a mill dog to take off. Perry will benefit from another respectful similar size and age dog in the family. Mill dogs understand dogs far better than people. Perry has more confidence with his mill buddy Gerry. Another dog in the family will help bring Perry out. Of course, you are welcome to adopt his mill buddy Gerry as well if you don't have a buddy for Perry yet. In time, Perry will benefit from training and might even be a candidate for agility training. Training is more than a skill set, it helps create a better bond and communication skill between human and dog which is even more important with a mill dog. What's crucial is that Perry needs a patient and caring owner who is willing to let her set him own pace. In just a couple of months in his new home, we believe Perry will begin to feel safe and fully relax into the household routine. Perry is expected to thrive in a home with either a gentle, respectful dog as well as having a family who is willing to spend a significant amount of time with him This companionship will help him feel more secure as he continues to adjust to her new environment. He MUST also have a fenced-in and gated yard as her potty place for his safety, given his shyer disposition. It's worth noting that once he does feel safe, he'll delight you with his charming poodle personality. Perry is crate trained and potty trained. That being said there is always a learning curve in a new home so please understand you will have some mishaps at first but most of the work is already done. Perry is 1 year old and fully vetted, He has been neutered, received age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and is heartworm negative, Subsequent vaccines are at the expense of his adopter His adoption donation is $800.00. He is on the hunt for his own completely committed family, Dogs can live to be 20 years old so he wants to be sure his family is all in for better or for worse! We adopt in the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits, If you would like to apply to be considered as an adoption candidate to adopt Perry please fill out an application for him adoption on our website at: https://www.rescuetailsanimalwelfare.org/info/adoption We are all volunteers with full-time jobs. We try to get back to all applicants within 72 hours. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at: RescueTailsAnimalWelfare@gmail.com.
