Story
*This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Meet Coco, a little senior sweetheart with a big love for attention. Coco is the smaller half of this adorable bonded pair, and he wants nothing more than to be right by your side — or better yet, in your lap giving kisses. He is affectionate, snuggly, and happiest when he’s close to his people. Coco has a relaxed daily routine and enjoys several short walks a day. After a potty break, breakfast, and a walk, he’s usually ready to curl up in a soft bed or relax in his kennel with Cooper nearby. He’s not too interested in toys, but he does have the cutest habit of “digging” himself the perfect little spot before collapsing into a deep, cozy nap. Coco is crate trained, potty trained, leash trained, and knows simple commands. He does bark at other dogs at first, but he’s been improving with treats and just needs a little time to sniff and settle. Coco is wonderful with people and loves being touched, petted, and included. Coco and Cooper are truly bonded and must be adopted together. These sweet senior boys are low-key, loving companions who still enjoy getting outside for walks and fresh air. They are ready to bring double the snuggles, double the smiles, and double the love to their forever home. ---- Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your Senior dog in top shape.

Story
Hi, I'm Layla! I may be a little shy when we first meet, and I'll probably bark when new people come into the house, but give me a chance to sniff you and I'll be happy to make a new friend. Once I trust you, I'm a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being outside, going for walks, playing with toys, and even splashing around in the water. I came from a neglectful situation where I lived outside with badly matted fur, so learning to trust people took a little time. With patience, kindness, and a fresh haircut, I discovered just how good ear scratches, cozy laps, and being loved can be. I'm mostly house trained and have a funny little routine when it's potty time. I also ride wonderfully in the car and will happily sit quietly on your lap. Right now I'm completely obsessed with my Santa stuffie. I even carry it outside with me when I go potty! I also love a good chew, but I prefer to enjoy my favorite toys and treats without other dogs getting too close, so I'll need someone who understands how to manage my space around other pets. I can get anxious and vocal in a crate, so I'm hoping to find a family that will help me continue building confidence. If you're willing to give me a little patience at first, you'll discover a loyal, loving companion with plenty of personality and an adorable collection of quirks that will keep you smiling. Layla is from Texas. ---- This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian.

*This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Meet Cooper, a sweet senior boy with a gentle heart and a calm, loving personality. Cooper is happiest when he’s near his people, soaking up pets, scratches, and affection. He may not be the type to jump into your lap, but he’ll happily rub against your legs or arms to remind you that he’s ready for some love. Cooper is an easygoing, low-energy companion who enjoys a simple routine. He likes short walks throughout the day, which help keep him happy and relaxed, and then he’s perfectly content to settle into a cozy bed or hang out in his kennel with the door open. He is crate trained, potty trained, leash trained, and knows simple commands. Cooper is great with people and has a sweet, steady presence. He is bonded with his best friend, Coco, and the two love to snuggle together in their kennel or poofy beds. Cooper is looking for a home where he and Coco can spend their golden years together, surrounded by comfort, kindness, and plenty of love. ---- Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Story
At just over 10 pounds, Ivy Pearl is a tiny senior sweetheart who has mastered the art of enjoying life's simple pleasures. Part Schnauzer, part Poodle, and entirely adorable, she's looking for a peaceful home where she can spend her days napping, sunbathing, snacking, and keeping her favorite people company. When Ivy Pearl first arrived in foster care, she was a little shy and unsure. Once she settled in, though, her delightful personality emerged. If she'd like a snack, a lift onto the couch, or a little extra attention, she'll stare at you and stomp her tiny feet until you get the message. It's impossible not to smile. Ivy Pearl loves being near her people and will happily follow you from room to room, always keeping an eye on what you're doing. She's not demanding—she simply enjoys the comfort of a calm, steady presence nearby while she relaxes. A true retired lady, Ivy Pearl's favorite place is her dog bed, especially if it's sitting in a sunny spot. She takes her naps seriously and has perfected the art of blanket arranging, carefully digging and nesting until everything is just right before settling in with a contented sigh. While toys don't interest her, Ivy Pearl enjoys short walks where she can sniff to her heart's content. She walks beautifully on a leash and is happy to take life at her own pace. Ivy Pearl may bark at unfamiliar people or unusual sights at first, but it's mostly a brave little act. Give her a moment to investigate, and she'll quickly reveal the gentle, sweet dog underneath. Loud noises don't bother her at all—it's mysterious things like suitcases and people carrying large objects that earn a second look. One of her cutest quirks is her collection of sleepy little grunts, especially during bedtime potty trips. And despite having no teeth, she can inhale a bowl of wet food in record time before looking up hopefully for seconds. Mostly house-trained, crate-trained, and wonderfully easy to live with, Ivy Pearl is the perfect companion for someone who appreciates the quieter side of life. If you're looking for a sweet little shadow and an expert nap partner, Ivy Pearl is ready to claim a spot in your heart—and the sunniest spot in your home. ❤️🐾 *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* ---- Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Story
Eddie's tagline: "Seeking one active introvert willing to provide unlimited pets. Compensation: endless loyalty, cuddles, and dramatic pouting." Hi, I'm Eddie! I'm what you might call a recovering scaredy-dog. When I first arrived in foster care, every noise, movement, and surprise felt like a very big deal. My tail spent a lot of time tucked, and I was pretty sure the safest plan was to run away from anything unfamiliar. But as I've settled in, my real personality has started to shine through—and it turns out I'm a total lovebug. My favorite hobby is being as close to my person as physically possible. Ideally, you're petting me. If the pets stop unexpectedly, I'll politely remind you with a paw because clearly you've made a mistake. I love praise, I give lots of kisses, and when I'm feeling happy and comfortable, my tail wags so hard it looks like it might take off on its own. I'm an active guy who loves starting the day with a big adventure. My foster and I enjoy long morning walks, and I settle nicely afterward for naps, cuddles, and supervising your workday from directly at your feet. Right now, I get multiple walks a day, and my foster also gets me lots of puzzles and toys to stimulate my brain! I am much more content and relaxed after exercise! Speaking of toys, squeaky toys are my weakness. The softer and more destructible, the better. I also enjoy rope toys, although I'm still trying to figure out why humans keep pulling back during tug-of-war. It seems very confusing. I'm fully potty trained and quite smart, if I do say so myself. I know "sit," "down," and I sit patiently at crosswalks until I'm told "okay." I'm working on learning even more tricks. The only time I forget my manners is when I'm nervous around strangers. That's the thing you should know about me: I'm still a sensitive boy. I take time to trust new people, especially men, and sudden noises or unexpected movements can make me anxious. I do best with patient humans who understand that confidence is something we're building together. Once you're in my circle, though, you're in forever. I'll follow you from room to room, keep you company during every activity (yes, even bathroom trips), and greet you like you've been gone for years when you come home. I also have a few adorable quirks. I pout dramatically when I have to do things I don't enjoy, like baths or car rides. I beg for snacks with impressive determination. And I eat and drink so enthusiastically that my humans have to make sure I slow down a bit. If I could tell my future family one thing, it would be this: I'm the cutest Stage Five Clinger you'll ever meet. I'm looking for a patient, active introvert who doesn't mind a constant shadow, unlimited requests for pets, and a best friend who thinks the greatest place in the world is right beside you.
