Story

Meet Layla – Your Toy-Loving Snuggle Expert! 🐾❤️ Layla is a sweet, lovable girl who's mastered the perfect balance of playtime and naptime. She loves carrying around her toys, entertaining herself, and then happily curling up for one of her many well-earned naps. At bedtime, she's convinced the best place to sleep is snuggled up in bed with her people—and she'll snooze peacefully through the entire night. Like many dogs, Layla gets very excited when she spots wildlife or other animals on walks. Squirrels, turkeys, cats, and dogs are simply way too interesting, so she'll bark and pull on the leash in her enthusiasm. She'll do best with someone who can confidently redirect her attention and continue working on her leash skills. Layla also has a funny little habit of scratching at the couch or comforters when she's feeling playful or energetic. Luckily, she's easily redirected to one of her favorite toys, and she's more than happy to channel that energy into playtime instead. If you're looking for a sweet companion who loves toys, enjoys cozy cuddle sessions, and is always ready for a good night's sleep by your side, Layla may be your perfect match! This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian.

Story

Winston has had a rough start on the streets and was unfortunately attacked by another stray dog. Despite this, he is a sweetheart who just wants love and cuddles. Winston is wonderful in the crate and considers it to be his safe space. He walks nicely on the leash and has come to absolutely love walks around the neighborhood. He is a bit cautious when meeting new humans, but can be won over with treats. Winston is a lounger more than a player, but he will co-exist with other calm dogs. Because of his cautious nature, Winston would do best in a home without kids or high-energy dogs. He has done great with cats in the home. Winston will need some support with basic command training, housetraining and just getting used to the home. Given his background, he can take some time to feel comfortable, but once he does you can expect a loyal companion who is always available for cuddles! Winston is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 10/10 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am-11am. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.

Story

🌸 **Meet Rosie!** 🌸 Rosie is an adorable Miniature Poodle who was released from a breeder and is ready to discover just how wonderful life as a beloved family dog can be. She may be shy at first and needs some time and patience to build trust, but once she does, she is an incredible cuddle bug! Rosie has a funny little personality that will make you laugh every day. She loves to tap your leg when she wants to get up on the couch, but then she may suddenly decide to play a game of “keep away” when you try to pick her up! She can still be avoidant about being caught, so her family will need to be patient and understanding. Once she is safely in your arms and settled beside you, though, she loves to cuddle, sit on your lap, and even sleep in bed with you. She also loves following her person around and soaking up the sunshine on the back step. Rosie is great with other dogs and has a funny, playful style. She is now leash trained and doing pretty well with potty training when kept on a consistent schedule. She is good with cats and is fine with respectful children who understand that she can get scared if she is overwhelmed. There is no aggression in her. Rosie was adopted for a few months and it getting returned as she struggled not having another dog in the home. So, she needs another dog in her next home. She tends to bond strongly with one person. **Rosie's adoption fee is $450 plus tax.** Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org
