Say Hello to Nellie! This sweet, happy girl really loves attention – one of her favorite activities is to snuggle next to you while you rub her belly or her soft ears. Until recently, Nellie’s life was repeatedly being bred to produce babies.  Her life drastically changed when Nellie came to rescue.  She didn’t trust people, had never lived in a home & didn’t even know what a treat was.  Nellie has made tremendous progress, but sometimes loud noises or quick movements can still startle her.  She is a bit shy when meeting people but is curious, so slow introductions work best. Nellie is doing good on house and crate training - following a consistent schedule will be key in mastering these skills.  Nellie is working on the sit and down commands.  She also made up her own trick – spinning!  She just loves attention and treats so I’m sure she’ll enjoy training sessions.  Nellie lives with two small resident dogs and loves playing with them.  She also looks to them for guidance and confidence, so another dog in her forever home will help continue to show her the way. Nellie loves being outside – going for walks or just romping around outside.  She needs a fenced yard so she can run around off-leash, as well as take care of her business. Nellie has started playing with toys & food puzzles.  She’s even had the zoomies a couple times.  It is wonderful to see her playing and having fun! You might find me tucked away in my cozy kennel, observing the world with cautious curiosity. While I'm not one to seek out attention, I'm learning that I'm worthy of love and affection. With a patient and kind-hearted human, I'm slowly coming out of my shell, venturing out to explore the yard and spending more time with my foster family. I may not be the playful type, but I do enjoy the occasional treat, especially if it's a delicious pup cup from Caribou! My favorite pastime? Simply observing you from the comfort of my kennel—it's where I feel safe and secure. While I'm still figuring out this big, bustling world, I've got some fears, particularly when things get too chaotic. But with a gentle hand and a calm environment, I know I'll continue to build my confidence. I'm potty trained and crate trained, preferring to do my business outside and retreat to my cozy spot when I need some downtime. A fenced yard is a must for me, as I'm still a bit fearful of new things and could easily become overwhelmed. I get along well with cats and would appreciate the company of another dog, regardless of size or gender. As for barking? You won't hear a peep from me— so far I'm as quiet as can be. She is good with other calm dogs, and cats, no young children as the excitement scares her. She is thought to be older, exact age is not known.  She is a pretty calm girl, does like to play some. Zoey would prefer not to be picked up alot, would rather lay with you on the couch on your lap and chill.  All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. She will be arriving in MN late April. Name: Harry Breeds: Shih Tzu/Poodle Mix Age: Adult Sex: Male Size: Small Harry is a super loving, fun Shih Tzu/Poodle type mix with a puppy spirit. This little guy is all about making friends, loving on everyone he meets, and having fun. He is reported to be 6 years old but he acts so much younger it’s hard to believe he’s a middle-aged guy. He came into the shelter in terrible shape—thin, matted, filthy, and with a giant mass on his face. He’s all cleaned up now, the mass removed, and he’s gaining back the weight he needs. Harry is not looking like a super model right now with a haircut that’s shaved to the skin in places from how matted he was but he will absolutely win every personality contest. He is excellent with dogs, cats, and kids. He loves nothing more than toys and tossing toys around. If he can’t find a toy, socks are his favorite things to run around with. Harry is housetrained, crates well, and minds his manners in the house. He loves to go for walks and then snuggle up with his people or in a sunny spot for a snooze. Now, it’s not like a lady to share her weight, but if I must, I’ll make the exception this one time. I am a 26 lb adult poodle, and while some other dogs are okay calling themselves a “good girl” I would say I am more of a refined lady. I mind my p’s and q’s, I wouldn’t dare cross your personal boundaries until I am invited to which I will gracefully accept your invitation. I will stand and give you a greeting hug and put my arms around you in a gentle fashion.        I am rather intelligent and am of the curious kind. If my senses are heightened by a delicious scent from the countertop, I must admit, I may explore but only when I know something is obtainable. Perhaps keeping delicious morsel treats a tad bit higher will keep my nosy nature at bay, which will likely lessen a counter surfing opportunity. Because of my intellect, I will remember where you keep treats, so, take note.        Despite my small frame, I move with elegance, like a graceful horse in stride. Though I have not been around children or felines, I am gentle and calm in spirit, so I do believe my patience will carry over if either were present in my new home. I do not mind other dogs of any size, but I love being with my person, a home without another canine could be ideal. I’m sure either will be quite alright.       I do prefer to be near my master, but will remain quietly poised in my kennel if that’s where you desire me at times, I also understand the command. While I often do not choose to speak, if prompted by another playmate, I may whine until the barking stops. Because I am a smart cookie, puzzle games are a great joy to me, along with treats and food being a delight as well.        I’m hoping my new home has a fenced yard, I don’t enjoy unnecessary sights and sounds, and an area that’s familiar would keep me in a gentler state of mind. I am working on potty training, I go outside, and I do use bathroom pads in the middle of the night, but I do need practice. I would think that with some extra attention in this area, maybe a schedule, I will likely pick up on cues in this area quickly. Perhaps allowing me to have free reign in the home when you are gone will have to be a reward that I must earn because of this reason, which is quite alright as I stated earlier, I don’t mind the kennel.       Well, look at the time, I must take my afternoon nap.
